In the movie Mosquita y Marí, it goes a great representation of Latinas living in in an urban setting like Huntington Park. Through the storyline we see that the two main characters Mosquita and Marí have two different lifestyles, and personalities. When meeting each other they create a bond like no other. As going more into the movie, the two girls go through obstacles that the only both can understand which were the roles as young Latina females, questioning their own sexuality, and even Mosquita trying to find her own identity drowned in her parent's dreams.
Both girls are young teenage girls with different lives but trying to grow up in Huntington Park. Throughout the storyline they are both trying to fight out their way of the local norms. Mari, young troublesome girl just moved into the it and trying to support her mother after her father's passing. Was not into school and was rebellious. But as to Mosquita she is shy and quiet following the guidelines her parents gibe her. Trying to get out of those circumstances she lives in. Only focus to have is on education and not let the surroundings affect her from being "successful". But as she is trying to please her parents she seems to not be able to even find herself.…show more content… Even getting good grades, within herself she felt like something was missing. Soon after meeting Marí she felt something with her and was drawn to her, even herself doesn't know about. After hanging out with Mari she knows sees what she was missing out on which was fun and not trying to please others, but to please herself. Soon after finding this out her parent's dreams weren't in her thoughts but in the back of her thoughts. She found her dream and happiness which was with her friend
