This poems imagery, metaphors etc. successful create and illustrate an interesting story for this poem. The author’s choice of words is interesting when describing the image of summer. This sentence “The plump good-natured children play in the blue pool: roll and plop, plop and roll;” sticks to me the most with imagery. It points out that kids are like plump shaped; meaning the kids have a rounded form assuming that they are out of shape since she is referring to them “as otters”. In an overall look at this poem it has strong words that helps me paint a picture; another example of that would be “Not beautiful, but suddenly limned with light; their elliptical wet flesh in a flash reflects it” this sentence uses words like, “limned” (depiction) of the light helps to see the “elliptical” (round) wet “flesh”, assuming its mentioning the obese kids earlier having fun in the summer weather. And finally the last sentence in the poem relating to summer: “and it greens the green grass, greens the hanging leaf; greens Adam and Eden, greens little Eve.” Mentioning green grass and the Adam and Eden reference creates and depicts a beautiful vivid picture about the feel. Page This poem transformed an everyday situation such as a simple motel pool into a unique event which makes you think about different situations. Its starts off by saying “the plump good-natured children play in the blue pool” this line makes you think that the author is describing what little children experience in the summer seasons, the children are having their first encounter from the previous winter season where the fat on their bodies protected them from the freezing environment. The image of plump children are usually looked at as very young, not yet the age of puberty so they still have baby fat. The symbol that these plump children represent is innocence and purity. The poem continues into describing how there children are playing in the wet dirt on the exterior of the pool. The dirt is getting wet by the blue pool waters so the children are now slipping and sliding in the dirt which gives the appearance of oiled skin. “slide and tumble, oiled, in the slippery sun.” When water is touched it moves into wave patterns which is the image. the symbol of “churning the water; or-seamstresses-cut and sew with jack-knives its satins invisibly” is described by the movements a child's curious hand makes as its swirled around through the water. It makes sense because, dealing with the countless hordes of women does tend to make one sweaty. So the creators of Axe have created a product that the modern day chick magnet can’t do without. The extended uncut ad has a guy waking up face down on his front lawn. He then proceeds to groggily get up and hit the shower, seemingly not remembering a thing about the night before. And then, all of a sudden, after using Axe Shower Gel, he has a flashback to a pool party. After waking from the pool party, he heads to the shower, gets cleaned up and is ready for more excitement. This time around, he ends up at what looks like a wanna be honky tonk, where of course the hottest girl in the place has her eye on him alone.
