Subject : Appliance for erasmus program in New-Zealand

Dear Sir, Madam

My name is Clothilde Dieuzaide, I'm a French student of 20 years old, I am currently studying at the University "Jean Jaures" of Toulouse and I intend to apply for the Erasmus exchange program with the University of Auckland as part of my studies.
After completing one year of studies about economy, I changed my course to L.E.A. I realised that my interest lies more with foreign languages rather than economy only. In L.E.A I study Law, economy and three languages (English, Spanish and Italian) however, English is still my major subject.

As I have always planned to spend some time abroad during my studies, I chose the Erasmus program because I am particularly interested in spending a year at an English-speaking university. I think this is a unique chance to combine my university studies with first-hand experience of life in an English-speaking country.

In my opinion living on campus at another university in a foreign country is an extraordinary opportunity which can only be experienced during the time of studies. After, I will still be able to go abroad, but I won't have time to study at another university anymore because of work.

The University of Auckland is my first choice for my stay due to the variety of courses it offers. Alongside improving my spoken and written English, I also hope to gain insight into the various aspects of culture and history of New-Zealand.

I have always been fascinated by New-Zealand. Unfortunately, I have not had an opportunity to visit this country yet. The Erasmus program would be a unique chance to fulfill this ambition and experience life in Oceania and learn more about the culture through university courses.

I have an excellent command of the English language

...Motivation letter “The value of a college education is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think” – Albert Einstein, 1921 First of all, I selected IMRE program because of its primary focus on business administration with specialized topics in environment and resource management. The programme covers the courses, such as Business Management, International and resource economics and Multicultural communication, that interest me the most. As a future business leader I must be an expert in these fields, capable of analyzing and solving any practical problems I may face. I am certain that numerous management tasks and projects as well as case assignments I will take part in during this programme will help me overcome various engagements I will encounter throughout my future career as a manager. My current goal is to start and develop my own business. After doing some research into Russian post-secondary programmes, I realised that this country cannot offer me the education I need to achieve this goal. The level of specialisation here is quite poor and teaching methods are mostly oriented on theoretical knowledge which I believe is nearly useless when it comes to real-life work. Subsequent to earning master's degree in international business I would like to work for an international company as a manager and investigate and learn different aspects of global organizations as it will affect my long term career plans in this area. And, International...

Child Development

...CHILD DEVELOPMENT ESSAY Sensitive Mothering is essential to the social and emotional development of the child. Discuss this statement in the context of relevant development theory. • Explain what is meant by the term Sensitive Mothering. Explain why sensitive mothering is important in building a positive emotional base. • Link this explanation to Bowlby’s attachment theory and Ainsworth’s studies. You will need to show an understanding of the internal working model of attachment and how sensitive mothering impacts the quality of attachment. • Links also need to be made to Erikson’s relevant psychological stages of personality development, emphasizing the importance of a supportive social environment. • Consider research that determines how early attachment impacts social and emotional development of three to five year olds and adults. Bowlby (1969 cited in Nicholls & Kirkland, 1996, p.55) states that an important element in the development of secure attachment is maternal sensitivity. This is necessary in order to engender an infant’s confidence in a mother's   accessibility and responsiveness. Ainsworth et al (1978 cited in Barnes, 1995, p.14) opine that maternal sensitivity predicts the extent of attachment between mother and infant.   “Mothers who are more sensitive, responsive, accessible and cooperative during their child’s first year are likely to have a child who develops a secure attachment”. Ainsworth et al, (1978 cited in Barnes, 1995...

Potts • Steef L. van de Velde T his paper introduces a new neighborhood search technique, called dynasearch, that uses dynamic programming to search an exponential size neighborhood in polynomial time. While traditional local search algorithms make a single move at each iteration, dynasearch allows a series of moves to be performed. The aim is for the lookahead capabilities of dynasearch to prevent the search from being attracted to poor local optima. We evaluate dynasearch by applying it to the problem of scheduling jobs on a single machine to minimize the total weighted tardiness of the jobs. Dynasearch is more effective than traditional first-improve or best-improve descent in our computational tests. Furthermore, this superiority is much greater for starting solutions close to previous local minima. Computational results also show that an iterated dynasearch algorithm in which descents are performed a few random moves away from previous...

...Michael Trusov, Randolph E. Bucklin, & Koen Pauwels Effects of Word-of-Mouth Versus Traditional Marketing: Findings from an Internet Social Networking Site The authors study the effect of word-of-mouth (WOM) marketing on member growth at an Internet social networking site and compare it with traditional marketing vehicles. Because social network sites record the electronic invitations from existing members, outbound WOM can be precisely tracked. Along with traditional marketing, WOM can then be linked to the number of new members subsequently joining the site (sign-ups). Because of the endogeneity among WOM, new sign-ups, and traditional marketing activity, the authors employ a vector autoregression (VAR) modeling approach. Estimates from the VAR model show that WOM referrals have substantially longer carryover effects than traditional marketing actions and produce substantially higher response elasticities. Based on revenue from advertising impressions served to a new member, the monetary value of a WOM referral can be calculated; this yields an upper-bound estimate for the financial incentives the firm might offer to stimulate WOM. Keywords: word-of-mouth marketing, Internet, social networks, vector autoregression Michael Trusov is Assistant Professor of Marketing, Robert H.
