Going back to school has its challenges. When we were young, going to school was just a part of our life. School fit into our daily routines and it was just accepted. Everything we had to do was planned for us; all we had to do was show-up. Even getting to school was planned for us.
Whether it was riding a school bus, or your parents driving or walking you to school, it wasn't an issue to think about. Our parents would make sure we had all our required requirements in-place and ready to go so, when we arrived at school we were ready and prepared. When we had questions, or did not understand the material/assignments our parents or even our brothers and sisters whichever the case maybe would tutor us. In some cases, they may have even done our assignments with us watching …show more content…
We were slowly being introduced to the team work concepts.
Working together with small groups of people friends on school projects and homework assignments taught us how to work well together. It was very easy to realize how far behind one could get if you did not work together with others. Good study habits were the key to making the grades but, the last thing anyone wanted to do when you got home from school after an eight- hour day was to study or do any home work. There were many ways to break-up the day-to-day routines of school and study since; most of us did not have jobs to worry about or anything else for the matter. Sports and after school events, took the place of jobs. I guess that's where the foundation of team work was started. School was generally a fun place to attend for everyone. It was a place in which, to be with our friends and hang-out together. But now my thoughts about going back to school seemed to be a mind-boggling dream of mine. I imagined the stress I would endure trying to make time for my school work, take care of a household, and two kids under the age of four years. After giving up on the thought of going back to college for a few years,

Personal Narrative: Moving Back To School

...Have you ever had your life completely fall out of place? Well I have, It all started in 3rd grade when my parents decided to move. Of course I was a third grader so I can't say no to my parents, but still I have an opinion too. It was the orientation of the school year, the police sirens were wailing, and I guess it was a ideal day for moving! Anyhow back to the story, In the morning I got up and put on my school uniform I know a uniform manifest right? After I got that hideous uniform on I ate cereal, and put my homework in my backpack. I got into my mom’s car and left for school. When I got to school, I put my backpack in my locker. I was sad as a cloud on a rainy fall day, I knew I would lose touch with my friends. As a third grader,...

...Benefits of Moving the School Day Later The topic of taking a school day and moving the start time and end time later has been debated federally and locally in the past few years. Scientists argue that adolescents need anywhere around 9 hours a sleep per night. But many students run of a cycle of going to bed at 11 p.m., and having to wake up at 6:30 a.m. or earlier depending on the circumstances. When students get this recommended sleep, they have shown due to scientific research to be much more productive in class. But moving the school day back has many contraries. Schools would need to raise 6.7 million dollars and would require on average 80 new buses. It would also push back many after school activities to even 7 p.m. Nerveless, I feel that the productive overpower the contraries and moving the school day back can increase productivity in school based on research. To get the recommended 9 hours, students would need to go to bed at 9:30 pm. While this sounds nice, scientist’s dean this sleep time as “Socially, that’s not realistic. Academically that’s not realistic. And even biologically, that’s not realistic.” Adolescents follow a unique sleep clock that makes it harder for a teen to relax and sleep earlier. From shortly after puberty until well into the college years, laboratory experiments have shown that the body’s internal clock is set on a sleep block of 11 P.M. to 8 A.M. or later. Some doctors even say that “..It is almost abusive to them.” Them meaning us students...

Personal Narrative: Moving Away

...It was summer of 2011 I was probably riding my bike or swimming with friends when my mom called me to come inside because it was getting late and it was time to eat dinner. My mom had the kids sit down and we talked about Maryland then my mom mentioned moving and my stomach had dropped. At that point I was thinking about my friends and family I would be leaving, and the fact that I had just finished signing up for my first year of tackle football a few weeks before. After a few days of being silent, upset, sad, and angry all at once while ignoring my parents I had decided there was nothing I could do to stop my family from moving even after hours on hours of begging. Personal Narrative: Goldsboro

...Ever since I was two years old, when my father joined the military, we’ve been moving around to different military bases. We were stationary in some places longer than others, but never really settled down permanently. I was use to the moving routine, of packing my room up, going to a new school, and restarting everything over. The longest time I have stayed in one city was seven years, and that was Goldsboro, North Carolina. A city surrounded by other major cities that people love to go to, shop around, and explore. There wasn’t to many exciting things going in the small city of Goldsboro, compared to the surrounding cities. My family would have to drive miles to get to a decent mall, and they only had one common food lion ( grocery store) in the area near by. It was time to see new scenery and moving day was coming up right around the corner. I was mentally preparing my mind to face change, and consider thinking on the brighter side of the situation. I’ve been the new kid before, but this time I wasn’t moving to another high school; I was moving to another state. The fear of becoming an outsider was becoming my reality. This was new to...

My Big Decision

...automobile accident I was faced with, what seemed to be a very big decision. This very big decision was whether or not to move back to Cleveland after living on my own for five years. I pondered this choice for a very long time and in the process many thoughts crossed my mind. I had a considerable amount of concerns while pondering this thought such as where I would live, where would I work, and if I was ready to start my life all over again in a new but familiar place. Since my automobile accident, moving back to Cleveland was the biggest decision I was faced with making yet. I contemplated it for about six months before making a definitive choice. My biggest concern in moving back home was where was I going to live? Five years ago, when I moved out of my parent’s house, for college, I told myself that I would never move back. I told myself that I would never move back not because I didn’t love or care for my parents but because I felt that going to college was a step toward becoming an adult and moving back home would be anything other than a step forward in life. I weighed the pros and cons of moving back home and in doing so, I came up with more pros than I did cons. I figured that living closer to my family was more important that living close to friends because in my five years away, friends had come and gone. In making the decision to move back home the next step was figuring out where I was going to...

Narrative Essay About Moving School

...Chapter Two On the move My elementary school life was not enjoyable. I was always moving because of things like getting evicted. I had attended all but one elementary school here, that being Jefferson. I had even went to one in Arkansas. I didn't even go to that one for two months before I moved back here. Let's begin at kindergarten. I didn't go to it too often. My parents didn't care enough to make me go. I think I showed up for about 80 days out of the school year. I didn't bother me at all, I just say it as a free daycare. The days I did go was ok. I didn't like the whole learning idea. I somehow didn't get held back. This is the only grade I had stayed in one school. I did move houses a few times but never had to move schools. First...

...During the May of 7th grade my family made the decision that we would be moving all the way across the country to Oregon. This seemed crazy. I had lived in Bedford, New York for as long as I could remember. I had good friends, a good school, and a pretty good life. There really wasn't any reason to leave. The day I told my friends I would be moving, they were both upset and completely surprised. All of them had no idea why I would leave. Neither did I. We tried to come up with different ways to convince my parents to stay in Bedford. I lectured them on how my life there was absolutely great, and I didn't need to just leave it all of a sudden. Unfortunately this didn't help. Even after our long discussions, my parents...

Moving To US: A Case Study

...most significant risk I have ever taken revolves around my family's decision to move to the US. The story began after my family won a set of green cards from a lottery held by the USCIS in 2012. Enticed by the higher quality of education available, my parents decided for the entire family to visit the states in January 2013 to see if permanently moving was possible. For a month, my siblings and I attended a public school, while my parents tried to look for jobs. Unfortunately, language barrier was a big problem that prevented my parents from getting decent positions despite of their degrees. We went back to Indonesia, thinking that moving to the US permanently was impossible considering my parents couldn't endure hard labor work. We never rethought about moving back to the US.
