Having comfort and being safe is what everyone wants but when I was faced with the challenge of moving to a new school and home life seemed to take a complete 360 for the worst. All my life I've depended on my three sisters, my mother, and the people I surround myself with, but what do you do when you have to leave the setting that made you most comfortable and secure forever? At the age of fourteen, I had no idea what to do when my mother told me I was moving and had to leave the school that I grew up in and the one place that made me feel safe and also made me feel like I could truly be myself. At that time, I felt like the world was ending, I cried for days. Leaving the people you love is the hardest thing to do and that's what I was doing. …show more content…
Since I had no choice I tried to find the bright side of my situation, but that took a while. The first day of my new school was the most terrifying days I had ever had. All day, I felt butterflies in my stomach. I didn't talk to anyone, I felt alone. Entering a new setting is hard but I was determined to look for the bright side. One day on my way to school one girl who was in my English class stopped me and said “fake it till you make it” at first I was confused, I had no idea what she was saying or what that even meant. Looking back to the day I realized what she meant that even though things are rough it will get better. From that day forward instead of thinking about the things I couldn't change, I started to think about ways I could make my situation better. After a while, getting involved with school activities, seeing where I feel more comfortable. From that day forward little by little I came out of my comfort zone and I started trying new things, like joining the basketball team, sharing my opinion on school and many other things. All of this was challenging but I'm glad I had this experience and overcame
