Tesco is the UK's biggest food retailer offering a variety of services for food and non-food products to include insurance, entertainment, electrical goods and many more. Tesco is the biggest private sector employer in the UK and offers a competitive package of pay and benefits for all jobs, whether as assistants or managers in stores and depots. More specialised roles such as finance and HR, are based at its head offices based in Hertfordshire.

Bsix college is a sixth form college located in Upper Clapton, London in the United Kingdom. It officially opened in September 2002, giving students in Hackney the opportunity to study at a college close to where they live. It provides student courses for the right appropriate level. It provides a-level courses such as chemistry, maths and business.

Tesco has a hierarchical structure because it has a lot of layers and a lot of people reporting into more than one person before that information get to the boss. A hierarchical structure has many levels. Each level is controlled by one person. A hierarchical company tends to be a very big company just like Tesco is. In a hierarchy instructions are generally passed down from one person to another until it gets to the bottom of the hierarchical structure. If there was a problem in a hierarchical structure it would move up through the structure again from one person to another until it gets to where it is supported to be. Strengths of a Hierarchical structure are that there is a close control of workers. Workers in Tesco will know exactly what they have to do so they don't wait around until they are told. This sort of structure allows the workers in Tesco to know precisely what they have to do so they don't hang around until they are told. There is clear authority and responsibility within the organisation that makes sure that everybody knows what they are undertaking and know that there will be cost if the tasks are not finished on time.

Tesco is a British multinational grocery and general merchandise seller company which has its headquarters in England. Like all other companies, even Tesco follows a certain hierarchical structure according to which the business positions and responsibilities are divided into many parts so that proper and smooth working can take place and that the workplace is always well coordinated. The ones at the top of the business pyramid have the maximum responsibilities and power

Advantages of Hierarchical structure:
In a hierarchical structure, members know to whom they report and who reports to them. This means that communication gets channelled along defined and predictable paths, which allows those higher in the organisation to direct questions to the appropriate parties. It also means that individuals tend to know who does and does not possess the authority to assign or change tasks. A clear chain of command also generates clearly defined sets of responsibilities. Military structures rely heavily on this division and assignment of responsibility and authority to maintain discipline.

Most people want to advance in their careers. Hierarchical structures offer very clear, if not always easy, advancement paths. In business organisations, for example, advancement frequently means replacing a departing or advancing superior. Alternatively, it can mean moving from one company to another to take a better position in a similarly structured organisation. In either case, those seeking advancement know the next step.
Larger organisations must manage a variety of diverse tasks, ranging from human resources and accounting to marketing and purchasing. The hierarchical structure divides these areas of concern into various department configurations that specialise. Specialisation allows organisations to concentrate particular skill sets and resources to achieve maximum efficiency.

Disadvantages of Hierarchical structure:
Hierarchical structures tend to adapt slowly to changing needs. Governmental organisations, for example, frequently come under fire for maintaining layers of bureaucracy that inhibit change. Organizations that cannot adapt to new market demands or advancing technologies in pace with or ahead of other organisations often end up marginalised. This problem affects enough organisations that an entire field of study, called change management, has developed.
The success of an organisation often depends on the quality of internal communication within it. As hierarchical organizational structures tend to channel communication vertically, interdepartmental or inter-agency communication suffers. Departmental specialisation can lead to communication barriers when no shared jargon exists that allow members of different departments to communicate on the same level. In worst-case scenarios, departments purposefully withhold information from each other.

Dee’s mini market

Dees mini market is Convenience Store located Palmers Green N13 4SE. it is a sole trader and supplies goods and services .A sole trader also known as a sole proprietorship or simply proprietorship - is a type of business entity which is owned and run by one individual and where there is no legal distinction between the owner and the business. Dee’s mini market both supplies a good and a service such as food and other necessities. Dees minimarket is a small business which currently employees 3 to 4 workers. It’s not very big and doesn't have other shops located in the same place. Dee’s minimarket is a small business and doesn’t have other business located anywhere else in the UK. There annual turnover is 6900 thousand pounds for this year.
Small businesses are small enough that all the decisions can be made by one or two people. Dees mini market is a flat structure as less employees are employed which makes decision to be solved quickly and easily. The functional areas used is marketing and sales because marketing is the process of identifying, anticipating and then meeting the needs and requirements of consumers in order to make a profit. In contrast, selling involves persuading customers that your products or services provide the benefits that they are looking for.
They ask customers to tell them what improvements they would like to see to existing products and what new products they would like developing. They test market a range of possible products on customers. As a result of the marketing process they are able to come up with the most suitable products

This involves advertising and promotion to communicate product benefits. he sales force is effectively selling the benefits of the new products. These benefits were developed as a result of market and product research. Marketing and sales therefore go hand in hand.
Marketing is all about finding out what the customer wants. Selling is all about showing the customer that you can please them by providing them with the products that they want.

A principal is someone who is the leader of a college. He or she is responsible for managing the major administrative tasks and supervising all students and teachers. Here are some examples: * The hiring of staff members * Communicating with parents and faculty when necessary * Creating policies (such as dress code) * Planning academic calendars for the school * Handling of student recruitment and admissions into the school * Disciplining students when needed * Supervising students, staff and other faculty members * Designing creative new programs and restructuring old ones * Handling of the schools budget * Maintaining secure funding for the school * Making both daily decisions as well as long-term decisions
