...Danielle Hufmann 16158396 dah369@mail.missouri.edu English 1000 I have a confession to make, one that made me feel empty-headed for many years; I used to be horrible at essays! Throughout my education career I have had a difficult time writing papers, whether it was a creative writing story or a research paper. But as I struggled through every essay in English class I was able to learn a great deal of tips to help me through every mistake I made along the way, which helped me some but still, I felt lost. I have always dreaded having to write essays in English classes because I knew it would most likely only hurt my grade, but all of that changed once I found a teacher who I could open up to and who genuinely cared about me succeeding in her class. I then went from having no confidence in any of my essays, to having a smile on my face when I received them back with an A on the front. I may have struggled when it came to how to construct an essay and how to make it flow, but by the time I finished Mrs. Wiley’s class my junior year all of that changed for me. All right so now I guess the secrets out! Although I may be a good writer now, lets start back at the beginning. As I use to sit there at my desk while the teacher was handing out the rubric for the next writing assignment my hands would start to sweat and the nerves would start to kick in. All I could do was stare at my laptop not knowing where to even start. The only thing that had ever stuck with me is to use the...

...Management Rachael Crimes Grantham University This essay is a discussion of ethics, ethical responsibility, along with stakeholders and their impact on decision making within an organization. The essay explains the importance of ethical responsibility. There are detailed examples of ethical and unethical behavior within an organization. The essay is a compilation of works by several authors. The explanation of the authors’ belief of ethical behavior was studied to complete this essay. Ethical responsibility is important in the business world. Businesses have a responsibility of being honest with employees so they can make informed decisions about career choices; a responsibility to respect customers, and a responsibility to invest in the community that the business depends upon. The biggest organizations can be destroyed; whether by a company or by one person within a company (Sims, 2003). According to Sims common ethical problems include accounting practices that hide fraud and theft from employees as well as investors. These types of violations will lead to criminal charges, loss of consumer confidence, and employee respect. In order to maintain an ethically responsible company, clear moral standards must be set from the onset of the company (Sims, 2003). The company should create and enforce a code of conduct that ensures that customers are treated fairly by employees. Sims explained that to avoid even the appearance of unethical behavior the organization should...

...Darria Nance Mrs. Hake English 111 26 April 2015 Essay 4. Restaurant Review Erio's Restaurant Review Erio's restaurant is located in Woodson Square, 4434 Woodson Rd, St. Louis, Mo. 63134. It is a small, friendly restaurant that is quiet easy to miss except for it's huge sign in the parking lot. It's the perfect place to dine if you like Italian cuisine. It sits just across from Columbia College and is convenient for the campus students and staff. It's interior is gorges with its vintage type theme in the artwork that hangs on the walls. The restaurant buzzed with excitement and energy and quickly filled with seemingly satisfied customers. The noise level was appropriate for the number of guest that were in pleasant conversation. This restaurant was a selection of ours as we were given the task of performing a restaurant review. Our party of guests was a large one of about 10-12 including our English Professor Mrs. Hake. We were accommodated by tables that were neatly joined together with decorative cloths. The waitress introduced herself and offered drinks as we awaited the arrival of the rest of our party. I couldn't help but notice how clean the restaurant was and that the aroma was that of Italian seasoning. Silverware sat at your elbows neatly wrapped besides the menu that was placed at my fingertips. There were several selections ranging from Pizza, soup, salad and sandwiches, stuffed pasta, and baked entrees. My selection was the baked mostaccioli with the...

...improvement was my rhetorical essay for The American Dream. My first attempt was not good at all, since I summarized it instead of doing what I was supposed to do. I received a seventy-five on it and, in contrast, I got a ninety-five on my second attempt. To get there, I went to the writing center twice, and redid my outline for which I got advice from Dr. Kennedy on how to improve it. Using the outline made the MEAL plan easier for me whenever I typed my body paragraphs. Unfortunately, my work schedule did not allow me to visit the writing center for my argumentative essay, but meeting with Dr. Kennedy who gave me constructive criticism helped me write a better essay. I also used the PaperRater to check for errors in my paper, and I plan on using it for this one also. I doubted my writing skills at the beginning of class, but I am sure I progressed over time with my writing...

...Lack of self-discipline Geronimo Moreno CSS101, Psychology of Motivation Mr. Allred 11/12/2012 Lack of self-discipline A lack of self-discipline can be problematic to one’s education and career. However, most people don’t understand the true meaning of self-discipline. Therefore I will write this essay to paint a clear picture of what self-discipline is, and what measures one can take in having a lot more self-discipline. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines self-discipline as; correction or regulation of oneself for the sake of improvement. Self-discipline is basically taking control of one’s conduct, usually for personal improvement. The reason a lack of self-discipline can be problematic to one’s education is because, instead of completing a required task you would rather be doing something else that is more enjoyable. For example, studying for exams or playing video games, finishing up a particular report or meeting with your friends, and exercising at the gym or watching television at home. Self-discipline is also similar to ‘self-control’ because you are basically controlling yourself to do something you don’t want to do. To become self-disciplined one must learn how to become the ‘disciple’ of themselves. To become a ‘disciple’ of your-self means to become responsible for your thoughts, actions, and maintaining self-control in doing so. A lack of self-discipline can be problematic to one’s career because, with absent leadership or bad perceptions...

...And technology can also affect in body health resistance and once you already learn to love copy and paste in the internet in the future you become lazy.” Mr. Philippe Christian John D. Zayas (2003). According to Ms. Myra Joy P. Belasio (2005). "The effects of technology to students’ study habit are its intelligence and they cannot help their parents do the household chores because of being focused to the technology especially the internet, computers and mobiles". Furthermore, Ms. Elaizza Gelyn Borres (2002) stated that “The effects of technology to students’ study habit are they usually copy and paste an article to the internet without reading what they copy from that article. Rather than scanning books to have an answer and from that you can learn many things about what you read." According to a literature by Jill Elaine Hughes (2011), “Developing good study habits is crucial for any student pursuing higher education, but it is of particular importance to working learners. Schools must provide its student with a robust support network that enables working learners to make most of their existing skills and also boost their ability to be self-disciplined, self-directed, and ultimately successful in their degree programs.” Moreover, Art Markman, Ph.D. (2012) in Ulterior Motives stated that “One of the most important tips is that students should study by testing themselves rather than just reading over the material. It is also important to study over a...

...article “ A Case for Civility,” in the February 2013 American Legion magazine, Mr. Howard states that the American political culture has become “reek with incivility.” He uses various examples of officials like former senator Richard Lugar, former president Ronald Regan, former Speaker of the House, former senator Tip O’Neil and former senator Gabrielle Gifford, as an example of cooperative forces. Mr. Howard continues that many opportunities were taken to handle the nation’s various programs and legislation in an effectively cooperative way, and the collective tragedy of when issues are out control. Mr. Howard states that with the Internet, advertising, and news media, dirty laundry grabs the public’s attention and creates a segmented society. This creates an ineffective and difficult transfer of power in our political system. To reinforce his argument, the author uses a compilation of George Washington’s views from “Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation,” which is 110 observations made by the first American president. These observations point to operating daily with more candor and contain confrontation. In Henry Howard’s article in American Legion magazine, “A Case for Civility,” has a caption that says, “Today’s partisan rancor is nothing new. However, it is getting worse, as seen on the campaign trail, talk shows and Internet. How do we bury the hatch?” Mr. Howard’s article states that in spite of many successful examples of historical...
