The goals of this website should be demonstrated in several forms. When I sat down with relatives to talk about the goals of this one of the first questions that I ask is why you think the site should have any goals. Often, there’s a moment of uncomfortable silence before someone replies, because everyone genially thinks that IT is tremendously hard. A couple of the answers that I got were that asking for certain web addresses maybe a disadvantage. In addition, some courses build a website for branding purposes, or to provide information to potential clients, thinking that one-way communication is a return on investment, and therefore a valid goal. Another one of the goals that a user may see is that using a website is merely to provide information is like using an airplane to drive around town without ever leaving the ground, you’re missing the real opportunity to help your business take-off by creating opportunities to follow up with qualified prospects. Measurable objectives are the specific measures we use to determine whether or not we are successful in achieving the goal. The objectives are instructions about what we want the student to be able to do. Use verbs and include specific conditions that describe to what degree the students will be able to demonstrate mastery of the task for the website that any user would love to see.
Some educators call these learning outcomes; others call them measurable objectives; and yet others call them behavioral objectives because they describe observable behavior rather than knowledge. After all, a website is a corporate resource, and like any other resource it must provide a return on investment, or some kind of conversion. That return should be immediate and measurable, meaning that the bottom line for any website is how specifically has the website grown my online business today, this week, this month, and on.
