Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Vs. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 (COD) is a game based off of a military background. It is a first person shooter (FPS) type of game. This type of game is very different from another game type considered as a Massively-Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG). Some people have a preference to which type of game they prefer. COD has many fans and followers of their series over the last couple of years. Fans are very into this type of game and prefer to play games strictly related to the COD franchise. COD is very fast paced, very random, and requires little strategy to have fun with the game. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Skyrim) is what is considered to be an MMORPG. This is the exact opposite of an FPS. Skyrim is very slow paced, requires a lot of skill, and follows a plot. This leads to a much longer game play, and also an extremely large map. COD is played on smaller sized maps and follows no plot. Skyrim you have to have followed the series in order to understand the next part. This is the fifth game in the series. These games are complete opposites of each other.
Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 is a very fast paced type of action game. Players choose teams or choose to go solo and battle against each other in a war like scenario. This game has rounds that last around 10 minutes for each particular session. The game can also win when a certain score or objective is reached/ completed. When you are killed you can respawn immediately in most game types. There is no reset point and you don’t lose any progress, you simply die, come back, and pick back up where you left off. This is one of the main differences that tend to differ from FPS’s and MMORPG’s. Skyrim is very slow paced. You have such a large map and such a more realistic type of action that it is much slower than COD. This game also is not from a military background. You are still doing battle, however, you are doing is as a mage. Your goal is to destroy a dragon that eats worlds in order to save yours. This takes a lot of time considering you have to play it as though you are the character in the game. You are certain to not finish this game in a day. The difference in game experiences based on this is very apparent.
COD is a very random game. Enemies spawn randomly on the maps, the objectives are random, everything is constantly changing, and the same thing will never happen twice. There is no reason to go back and do something over again because it will not happen the same way. Different game modes have different objectives, however completing them will never happen the same way twice. Everything in the game is completely at random. This differs from an MMOPRG immensely. Skyrim follows a very strict plot. This is the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series. Without playing the previous four, you will feel somewhat lost and confused. This game has a story line that only goes one way. When you are set out to do a task and you fail, you will die, and restart the task. In COD you die and continue on. This makes the gameplay drastically different from each other.
COD also requires very little to no skill in order to have fun in this game. You also don’t have to know the previous game to have fun in this. Lack of skill doesn’t matter because you can live, die, respawn, continue on. Anyone of any age could have fun during this game and have enough going on to be entertained for hours. Skyrim requires a lot of skill. You have to play the game as if you actually are the character inside of the screen. You will have to coordinate with your friends in order to complete tasks as efficiently as possible. You have to make sure you all know each other’s strengths and weaknesses in order to be efficient and keep everyone alive. Without playing with a certain amount of skill, the game becomes a burden and not fun. When you die you have to restart everything you just did. This is one of the main differences between the two games.
As you can see there are many differences between COD and Skyrim. One is an FPS one is an MMORPG. COD is fast paced Skyrim is slow paced. COD is on very small maps; Skyrim is on a very large map. COD requires little to no skill; Skyrim requires loads of skill. COD respawns you and you continue on, Skyrim respawns you at a checkpoint where you have to restart. Both games have fans that follow their series. However, these fans almost never follow the two together. It is basically like two different types of people. The games are too different for one group of people to truly enjoy the other. These two games are complete opposites of each other. However, both types of games are very fun and unique in their own way.
