How to prepare my favorite dish

I have always been someone who enjoys good food, but very particular about what I eat. So for that reason only I have become somewhat of a chef. I love to entertain and have family and friends over to test new recipes. One recipe I debut have become a family favorite and have to bring it to every family gathering. I received this recipe from one of my coworkers when I was looking for something different to do with cabbage, which I love. She told me that her family loves this recipe and its super simple to prepare. It’s called Runza, similar to a calzone, without the red sauce. To get started you will want to make sure you have all your ingredients close to you. This is what you will need. When I make this recipe I rarely measure anything out. It’s all to taste. I’ll start with the most important ingredients first, One head of cabbage, one pound of ground turkey or ground beef ( which ever you prefer), one green and red bell pepper, mozzarella cheese, one large onion, garlic cloves. You will use one teaspoon of each of these spices: salt, pepper, red pepper, red curry, Italian seasoning and chili powder to give it a little kick. I usually would make my own bread recipe but for time saving measures I just use an already made pie crust. I would get two just in case you will need to double wrap. Lastly you will need, as Rachel Ray would say, one turn in the pan of olive oil to cook your vegetables.
Let’s get cooking. Began by chopping all of your vegetables, including the onion and garlic. Heat a nonstick pan on medium heat. Once your pan has heated add the onions and garlic, cook until the onions are translucent. Add to the pan the red and green peppers and sauté until they are slightly soft with a little bit to them. Turn the heat

Slime Research Paper

...My personal favorite slime recipe results in making a thick, glossy, and very soft textured slime. This recipe contains glue, activator (one cup of water + two~three teaspoons of borax), water, lotion, conditioner, food coloring (optional), shaving foam (optional), a bowl, and a mixing tool. The first step is to add in your desired amount of glue. Then, pour in a little less of the water than the glue. Add in your lotion, and conditioner. The conditioner will give your slime a very thick texture. If you want your slime to be a tiny bit fluffy you can add in shaving foam, but I tend to stick with not putting it in. If you want to be a little more extra, you can even add in some food coloring. Lastly, pour in your activator little at a time,...

My Favorite Dessert

...Strawberry Shortcake: My favorite dessert What better way to conjure up the simplicity of youth than by memories of my favorite dessert-- strawberry shortcake. The first thought that comes to mind when I think of my favorite dessert is, my grandmother Essie Tolen many of happiest childhood memories come from the kitchen. When I became sad or depressed due to the abandonment of my mother. My grandma knew exactly what dessert to bake to put a smile on my face and comfort my heart. It is a dessert of both meager origins and uncomplicated design. In fact, the basic recipe is so perfect in its original form that few variations have been made and sustained overtime. Very much like the best memories of my childhood, strawberry shortcake is delicious in its pure, unassuming simplicity. The origin of this delicious dessert dates back at least as far as the 1500s, but the evolution of strawberry shortcake is somewhat uncertain. However, records do reveal strawberry shortcake is a European invention. The "short" of the shortcake name derives from the process of adding of shortening or butter to dough to make it tender. Strawberry shortcake parties became popular in the United States around 1850, as a celebration of the coming of summer. The strawberry fever caught up with people as the timing of introducing the dessert clicked and the demand kept increasing every year. Made of fresh ingredients in a few simple steps, it is no wonder strawberry shortcake is so popular...

English 102 - Process Description

...Magic in the Kitchen My wife has a new hobby: baking. Since I bought her Vitamix, a heavy duty blender, she is so in love with it that she bakes even twice a week. I need to say that for the person who has never done this before, she is doing really well. So I decided to watch her make my favorite cranberry walnut bread (which technically tastes like a cake so I am not sure where that "bread" word comes from). It is a Friday evening when she decides to prepare this delicious bread so we can have it for our breakfast the next morning. I am sitting by the kitchen's island quietly taking notes and ensuring her that I will make the next cranberry walnut cake on my own. It is pretty late, almost bed time but she seems full of energy. The snow is snowing heavily and I can hear the snow plough working outside. The kitchen’s island is her favorite place to prepare food and it is also the closest place to the fridge and the pantry. The kitchen cabinets are grey at the bottom and white on top. They have long and wide silver handles. The white quartz countertop shines like she has just polished it. Vitamix is right on top of the cabinet to the right from the island. It is a gigantic mixer, black and silver, with a plastic container. Then, she turns on the Pandora radio to her favorite “Gotan Project” station, pours a glass of Spanish red wine and she starts to do her magic. The first thing she does is to open the Vitamix's cookbook. She stores it along with...

...Stuff Shells for the Caribbean Families often pass down favorite recipes from generation to generation or from friend to friend. I took a moment to talk with my wife, Antalaya Israel who of which has a West Indian background (Trinidad). We spoke about her family favorite dish or at least her favorite, and to bring in that recipe to share. Surprisingly for Caribbean women, stuff shells were and still are this Trinidadian favorite dish of all times. Now I get it because being from Bermuda, I tend to lean more to Italian dishes as well but my wife is the oldest of three girls and lived with a mother from my observations, that cooked nothing but soul/Caribbean cuisines. At the end of this interview, I will encourage the reader(s) to try my wife’s recipe for stuff shells. I use my wife as a reliable source for this project because of her family’s background---Trinidadian. There’s no secret that Caribbean women love to cook, and not just love but can actually put great things together in the kitchen. Her mother and I often argue about who is the better cook but to be honest, her mother is a very good cook. From the spices she uses to presentation. As a matter of fact, she has a catering company---she being the mother. Trinidad cuisine is known for a number of dishes that has contributed to the culinary world. I believe it’s the spices that create these dishes to come to life like no other culture; roti, doubles, curries and more---Trinidad's best foods are loaded with...

Curry

...perspective is influenced by Pakistan as well… curry to him is a stew/saucy dish that contains some variety of a masala and other spices. I have a more worldy view of curry. My first taste of curry came from Germany, all though we generally do not have curry wurst as a part of our curry night. As a child we used to go to Imbiss stands to get pommes fritz with curry ketchup, to this day it is my favorite condiment. I then had the privilege of being introduced to Southern Indian Curry dishes in high school. I further grew to love the diversity of curry in my years in California in Thai and Japanese Cuisines. It was a twice a week occurrence that I was at my favorite Thai restaurant ordering yellow curry with chicken, until the chef finally gave me his recipe. But of all the curry, I love Japanese Curry the best. Strangely enough, in the American Culture it is the least known. Most people think the only thing that comes out of Japan is sushi, tempura and yaki soba. In this paper, I will discuss the origins of this interesting word called curry; whether curry is a spice or a dish. I will also discuss how curry has evolved into its own adaptations in other world cuisines, from Britain, to Indonesia, Thailand, China and Japan. I will then conclude with two recipes, Faisal’s family blend of masala and my favorite Japanese Curry dish. Curry is a generic description used throughout western culture to describe a variety of spicy dishes, especially from Indian or other Southern Asian...

...Lisa Neumann Student ID # AC0700552 English Composition II EN130 Assignment #3 Process Analysis Essay 12/18/14 Page 1 How to prepare my favorite dish: Roast Pork Authentic Puerto Rican Style My all time absolutely favorite dish is Pernil ( pronounced perr-neel), translated from Spanish is Roast Pork Shoulder. Though it is a time consuming item to make, the recipe is fairly simple and the finished product, a succulent tasty Pork Shoulder, is very much worth the wait. Below I will advise of the preparation techniques and ingredients needed to make this mouth watering dish. This recipe will serve approximately 8 people. The approximate active preparation time is 20 minutes and the approximate inactive preparation time is about 5 hours 30 minutes, plus marinating time. I've also included the nutritional value per serving in this paragraph as well. (Serving size: 1 {229g}, servings per recipe 8, calories 896, calories from fat 612, cholesterol 268 mg, sodium 633 mg, carbohydrates 1g, dietary fiber 0.1g, sugars 0g, protein 65g). A time saving tip I use and like, is to gather ALL my ingredients first, and placed them in a nearby handy location, so they are all there and ready to use. Note that all the ingredients I use are from GOYA, with the exception of the salt and pernil, which is best gotten from your local butcher. If you don't have local butcher, a supermarket bought pork shoulder will do. The ingredients are listed below: * 1 skin on, bone in pork...

Pinterest Personal Narrative

...2012 was a momentous year for me. I did not get married or get a promotion or birth a child--I created a Pinterest account. And my baking prowess has risen like a perfect soufflé. What I lack in formal culinary training I make up for in hours of procrastinating on the social media phenomena. A peek at my profile will reveal boards of baking neatly organized at my discretion (cupcakes, layer cakes, cookies, bars, frostings, pies…) Before Pinterest came into my life, I was an avid user of Epicurious.com. While searching recipes on Pinterest yields a bounty of more options, it lacks the reviews that help inform if it’s worthwhile to put on your apron and turn on the oven. But after dozens of dessert boards and thousands of pins later, I have...
