...At first day working experience I have recently joined as M & O under the nutrition programme ICDDR’B,in this regard, I would like to brief my possible task at first working day such as In the morning, I will get up in the morning and make a plan for day long to make the work convenient and the daylong work may be as follows: To be introduced (according to instruction ) with upazila health and family planning officer and family planning officer respectively after having been introduced with the higher authority, I will also request them to introduce me with the field level staff of health and family planning. During the introduction with the field staff, I will ask them some informal question regarding their home district and total working period of that locality etc. After the informal discussion, I will try to take an idea about geographical location of that upazila and in one stage of the discussion; I may entertain them with a cup of tea which will depend on the situation. If there is an instruction to make a field visit at first day of the work, I will do that accordingly with field staff. During the field visit, I will try to conceptualize about the life style of the locality as well as the mode of work of the field staff which will help me in the long run to implement the goal of the project. After the field visit, I will try to reflect on “the total day” from the introduction part to field visit and this reflection will help me to find out some issues to...

...First week in my OJT May 25 Friday Our on-the job training in Tempura Japanese Restaurant took-off with a brief orientation with the store manager. First, the trainees were introduced to the whole staff, followed by a tour inside the store premises-from the dining area, then to the bar and finally in the kitchen. During this tour, the manager gave us a few ideas on how it works and we have our first glimpse on how the restaurant operates. After that activity, he/she gave us our first on-site post: the entrance. We’re instructed to stay there and open the door for the guests. He/She also reminded us that it’s a must to greet the incoming guests with “Yokoso , Ma’am/ Sir” while outgoing customers must hear the words “Doumo arigatou gozaimasu”. May 26 Saturday On our second day on Tempura, the staff taught us the standard position for serving. At the end of this activity, we were expected to learn the basic steps on how to serve the guests efficiently, have an adequate proficiency about the menu including the right pronunciation for each dish. A staff also made a demonstration on table-setting. In this task, the demonstrator specifically pointed-out that the table was set in a specific manner that follows a strict standard. After the activity, we were instructed to go back to our first designated post and usher the guests. May 27 Sunday After two days of warming-up on our new environment, the trainees were able to catch up on the life in Tempura. Day 3 is an exciting day because...

...can’t believe I finally received my logging journal, this entry may be a few hours early but no one has to know. Tomorrow is the big day, the fifteenth commemorative day of my birth and the first day of my five year transition to adulthood. It’s been such a long time coming! Everyone says I’m going to miss being a minor and living with my family but I don’t think so, this is going to be fun! All week I’ve been running back and forth with my parents to the young adult center, and finally all of my arrangements are in place. I’ve been assigned to the VERY BEST young adult housing unit (unit 5, the one with a POOL), I was chosen to receive agricultural training, and I even had my first nutrient analysis! I was so tired of that generic slop they feed the minors, but not any more! They...

...Your First Day on Your First Job ‘You got the job! You got the job!’ were the words that joyfully rang out from the fast stuttering mouth of my closest neighbor, Maggie. She brought the good news that her boss, Regina Dumas, had agreed to employ me as a secretary for the non-government organization ‘Agency For Rural Transformation’. I couldn’t contained myself and exclaimed ‘Yes, I did it! Finally I can work and earn my own money!’ All too soon the day came for me to head off for my first day of work. I woke at 4:30 a.m., too excited to sleep anymore but anxious to start the journey to my workplace. ‘Make sure to drink at least a cup of tea’ was the forceful sound of my mother’s voice. She was happy for me, and wanted to ensure that I had a good start before beginning the workday. By 7:00 a.m., I was fully dressed in my long sleeve blue pant suit, paired with a florescent blouse and accessorized with my black shoes and brown leather bag. I kissed my mom goodbye and waited outside the house on the verandah for the sound of the blaring horn from the hired bus to take us to the workplace, a full seventeen miles from home. For the most part, the journey from St. Andrew’s to the parish of St. George’s was a smooth and uneventful ride. I travelled through the main winding mountainous road which took me through the rain forest, with its luscious pine trees. With the windows open, the fresh morning breeze smoothly bathed my face, giving it a refreshing feeling. The scent of the...

...lost my job as a Mine Operations Coordinator, and before I was notified of being officially laid off, my job was already on edge of being around for another month. The mining project I worked for had questionable growth for within the company and interests in supplying funding for future advancement of the project became a difficult battle. With impending layoffs, miners began to work slower and were more focused on what their next career step would be rather than what was the necessary daily tasks. This in turn effected how I could properly maintain productivity and mining advancements for the project, and with the impending layoff how to properly distribute my tasks and projects to coworkers who would remain with the company after the layoffs. My understanding of who I was as an up and coming leader became a struggle with the idea that I would be unemployed very soon. I gained a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses, along with what areas I should work on. Seven Habits Profile and Findings After completing Franklin Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and associated profile, I came to understand a bit more about myself and how I evaluate business practices. The profile showed that close to “Very Good” on every category with my lowest categories were Life Balance, Put First Things First, Synergize and Sharpen the Saw. I can see why these would be my lowest categories. My previous job had me doing swing shifts between night and day on a 11 day on...

...succeed. I need extensive incentive that drives beyond just a quote, a dream, or luck. I have three long term goals that form into one big picture motivated by my wife and children and will mold me into a role model for my family, a further successful employee at my job, and sturdier financial provider for my family. These three goals consist of completing my Associates of arts with a concentration in business, a bachelors of arts in business management, and advancing my career in the oil and gas industry. First, obtaining my Associates with a concentration in business is the shortest of my long terms goals. I have broken down this degree plan into three short term goals that will ultimately help myself achieve these goals by the summer of 2015. Each course I have viewed at Patten University is broken down into 8 units. I have set a goal to finish one unit every two days. This will approximately take two and a half weeks per class. Which leads to my second short term goal of completing four classes per sixteen week term. Giving myself exactly four weeks per class. The reason for having four weeks per class, even if I complete a unit every two days, is that I have some obvious obstacles in my life that can and will slow me down at times. With these obstacles in mind I have created my third short term goal which is to complete my associates in 2...

...hot summer day at work and the sun was blinding my eyes. I remember that day like it was yesterday; it was a Wednesday, July 19, 2000. Three days of work down and two more to go. I loved my job, I was always very “hands on”, but the last few weeks at work seemed to go by slower than they had in the past. I felt like I had a cold, or maybe a touch of the flu, I just hadn’t been feeling myself lately. All I had been wanting to do every minute of the day was sleep or puke! I wasn’t sure if it was because of my cold/flu-like symptoms or maybe I’d just been working too much. The only thing I wanted to eat that tasted good, that kept my nauseousness down was grape popsicles. I think I was eating a box a day, it seemed to be the only thing that helped my stomach feel better. My employer and some of her clients were cigarette smokers, and the smell seemed to linger in the air, on their clothes, and on their hands and it made me sick to my stomach even more. Sometimes even the aroma of my favorite foods made me want to throw up! During this time in my life, I was engaged and in the planning stages of a big beautiful wedding, I was very happy with my life. So, even though I was always feeling sick, I went to work. I worked at a home daycare and the owner suggested maybe I was pregnant and that I should take a test to be sure. Of course, I thought she was nuts, I wasn’t pregnant, I was sure of it! I was just over-tired....ALOT and constantly throwing up! We got back to work and I couldn’t...

...Rygg Perales My first job The day I knew that I became a man was the day I woke up and dressed myself properly for my first job interview. That was the day that I could say that my silly childhood would be put behind me. From the collared shirt to my shining shoes, I was ready for the next chapter of my life. More nervous than anything I sat down and took my very first interview. My first interview turned out to be such a success. The manager liked the eager and energetic man that I was. I was hired and was pumped to be able to be employed in the working world as a cashier. But I knew that it was not going to be easy. Learning all the tricks and traits to being a good and hardworking employee was a challenge that I was ready to take full flight in. After my first two weeks in training my manger told me that I had all the information I needed to know to close by myself. From that day on, I was an independent employee. To work...

...forward to the first day of work at a new job there are new people to me, much to learn, and money to be made. While I 'd had other jobs prior to starting my last job, nothing could have prepared me for the type of work environment that I encountered when I walked in to begin my employment. The first day of my job at a fast food restaurant was less than pleasing; and I believe that I am not the only one who felt this way. First of all, I didn’t 't like my job because I had no much experience and no one who was working the shift that I was to be trained on was my age. Everyone was much older and more experienced than I. I knew that if I had to work with these people every day that I would hate it. There would be nothing to talk about and we would have nothing in common. They would always be telling me what to do and calling me “young one” or something like that. I was not looking forward to working with them, but to do my best because I needed money. The other thing I did not like about my new job was my manager. This guy thought he was the commander in chief of the restaurant and barked out commands at people like he was a drill sergeant. He made one lady cry needless to say, I was not looking forward to spending my days with him after watching this take place and that push me even more to do my job, not just my job but right; My thoughts where on not to be in her shoes never and wonder if I it was my best choice. __I felt lonely and help less. Somewhere that day I felt that I...

...there is no need to come into work today, we’re very slow. Enjoy your day off.” I woke up to this phone call from my manager, which got me out of bed and ready to be productive. It’s been three weeks since I’ve had a day off, between work and school. A great start to my weekend, I thought as I got dressed and headed out to Dons. I arrive and see Don and a few other familiar faces, one in specific that caught my eye. A face that I wasn’t expecting to see, made my blood pressure begin to rise. Greeting everyone with a handshake and smile, Joey doesn’t reach out his hand. He starts to raise his voice and state that he had a problem with me. Along with this rant, came a swing to my jaw in which I prepared myself for, so I went numb and...

...When I was in my primary school days, I was the top few students in my class, sometimes in the whole cohort. My classmates were envious of my results, but it didn’t last long. As I grow older, I got exposed to things like computer gaming and console gaming. I started spending more and more time on gaming then studying and lead to the plunge in my results. Had a borderline result for my PSLE result. Went to secondary school, was still addicted to gaming. But at that time, I was enthusiastic about my CCA back then, Badminton. I could say that I spend more time on the Badminton court than anywhere else. We had training thrice a week, and even sparring sessions on Saturdays. My normal weekday routine would be to go for lessons, training, back home and gaming. So I wasn’t really spending my time wisely for the gaming part. Which I seriously neglected my studies then. My results were borderline throughout my whole secondary education period, still manage to get a Polytechnic to pursue my diploma. Enrolled into Nanyang Polytechnic, taking Electronics, Computer & Communication course. The name make it seems complicated, but that’s the thing that lead me to choose this course. Made a group of close friends within the first week of school. During test and exam periods, we will get together and do some revision to help with each other and clear our doubts. We all did quite well for the first test. Then comes the Semester Exam, where I made a stupid mistake. I was working as a promoter...
