My Hero & Our Values
When I was assigned this assignment of picking who my hero is I had trouble with thinking of who I saw as my hero. At first no one came to mind. I couldn’t think of anyone that had similar values to mine, but then as I kept thinking I found myself writing value that were similar to Jazmin Gonzalez. She is a Gymshark model and a fitness blogger. Her values are being motivated, fitness, courage, and positivity. I seek to meet those goals by really believing in myself and knowing that I can make myself more open and a better person. My values consist of; trustworthiness, strong-minded, passionate, and thoughtful. The values that we both have in common are, strong-minded and motivated. Those two are both very similar and being strong-minded means you are set to what you what to do and that is what motivation is like. Courage and passion are something we both share, you kinda need both and she uses them when making videos and putting herself out online. …show more content…
Being motivated to me means that you are passionate about what you’re doing and wanting to keep doing it or striving for it. It is important to me to have these two similar traits because I don’t think I’ve ever really been passionate and deeply want something that I really put my mind to it make sure that I do anything I can to complete or meet the goal I’m striving for. The motivation that Jazmin has is something I want to incorporate to my daily life because I want to be motivated to go through my day happy or very determined to finish a project I have. We both are into the whole gym aspect and when you go to the gym you don’t just go to go, you have a goal set and you go to get the results you want. You need to stay motivated to get that progress and end result you want. So I definitely see myself gaining the motivation trait in my everyday

My Hero Research Paper

...A hero to me is one of not the most startling qualities, but one of qualities that can be a person or their surroundings better. Most people look up to those of the most mesmerizing or eye grasping backgrounds. But, are those people really making change. See, my whole idea of me truly looking up to someone to call them my Hero is for them to show me that wholeheartedly desire to be that person, to be the change they want to see in the world, to be that difference maker. Although in some ways Hero must come from the noble background or birth and have a epic story to tell. The simplistic definition of a hero is one of noble qualities, and that is all I take from a Hero. To be a Hero you must take from what you have not done, not what you have come from. What you do in the moment as a good person will...

My Hero Research Paper

...A hero is someone who you can look up to and rely on them in times of need. My hero is my grandmother, Priscilla Nauman, who was very important and inspiring to me and many other people throughout her lifetime. She was loved by many people, from close relatives to strangers she would meet at the store, a restaurant, or around the neighborhood. She was also a very determined person who would do anything she put her mind to. Everyone loved her and she loved everyone. If I had to describe her in three words, it they would be generous, strong, and vivacious. Generosity is the act of showing a gracious act toward others. My grandmother showed this trait by being generous to everyone around her. She would help less fortunate girls get into college by grading their scholarship essays before they gave them to colleges. She would do this just so that the girls could get into the colleges...

Research Paper On My Michigan Hero

...“My Michigan Hero.” What is a hero? Based on society a hero is; ‘a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.’ In my mind a hero is somebody who doesn’t have to be praised when they do a good deed. They are selfless, strong, brave, patient, and kind. When somebody tells me to think of a personal hero, think of my mom. All the traits listed, describe who my mom is as a person. She is a strong and brave woman who’s kind and patient. A huge trait that I think is important for a hero is to be selfless. Selflessness is putting other’s needs before yours. Assignment-Sheet Self Assessment

...Assignment Sheet Self-Assessment For my universe I decided to go with the X-Men (superheroes) universe because I really love superheroes and what they can do. Going back to the syllabus I had Logan, a.k.a. Wolverine, as the teacher of a history class about mutant history. And just for a quick overview of Logan, his personality is somewhat of a “dick” personality. So whenever there is a rude or offensive comment in the assignment sheet, which is intended. For my assignment sheet I decided to go with the class writing a paper. This is because pretty much every class that someone has taken, they have had to write some form of paper, whether it was for extra credit or for an assignment, I thought that this would be a good time for the students...

Muc Ado About Nothing

...August 2013 “Trickery or Deceit” Much Ado about Nothing, is one of Shakespeare’s, romantic comedies. I chose, Trickery or Deceit, as my title, because, sometimes in true life it’s difficult to determine the two. In this play deceit plays a major role. It first starts one week before the wedding. Hero and her friends decided that Beatrice and Benedick argue too much and did indeed share feelings for each other, And so they plotted a trick to make them fall in love, they included everyone in it, Don Pedro, Hero, Claudio pretended to say things about Beatrice loving Benedick so, that Benedict could hear. And then also pretended to speak alone in the garden, knowing of Beatrice’s presence they continued to say things of Benedick’s Love for Beatrice, which wooed the both of them and they both fell in love, but, had no idea they were being Deceived. But every ones happiness is to soon come to an end, as Don Jon plots to ruin their wedding.. He has Borachio pretend to court and make gestures at Hero, while Claudio and Don Pedro watched, when indeed it was Margaret whom he courted and had sex with. During my research of “Much Ado about Nothing”, I found that this is a perfect example of” Trickery or Deceit”, or both? My studies show that the author has an open mind and left the decision to be made by the audience. In the play Much Ado about Nothing, the word Nothing in the play’s title, pronounced in the ...

Rele Model

...Hero Essay English 9 Mr. Castellano Our next major writing assignment is to write an essay about someone you consider to be a hero. We are doing this essay now because it coincides nicely with our reading of The Odyssey. As we have discussed in class, Odysseus is the archetypal Western hero: brave, strong, clever, quick-thinking, steadfast. The list could go one. My point is that as we read about this ancient and, I believe, still relevant hero I want you to think and write about someone who is a hero to you. This should be a fun assignment. I am sure you have heard all too often that there are no more heroes today, that everyone we look up to is corrupt and will ultimately disillusion us. I whole heartedly disagree. Heroes are everywhere we look: we just need to look. (In a book I read this Summer, one of the characters says, “We find what we look for.”) Heroes can be people we know personally and people we have only heard about. Here are only a few suggestions: Jesus Christ, St. Francis, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, Jr., Barack Obama, Captain Chesley Sullenberger, your Mom or Dad, an athlete, coach, teacher, or friend. Again, the list goes on. Just thinking about and planning this essay (as well as writing it, of course) will be a good exercise in recognizing how many heroes you have – how many people strive for high ideals and live virtuous lives. They’re there: look for them. Part of this essay will include what you define as...

...Tungalag Ganbold English 314 Julie Booche April 4, 2012 Villains in Fairy Tales Research paper   All children love to listen to fairy tales. When we were young, we ask our parents to tell us stories. People are not sure why fairy tales are so interesting and why every children love them. While it is entertaining, it is also moral lesson to young children. They learn from the fairy tales about good and evil. They learn how to distinguish good and evil, wise and foolish, and moral and immortal. Children learn many lessons from the characters of fairy tales and it is very interesting to see that they love heroes in the fairy tales and do not like the bad guys in the stories. When I was thinking about the research topic, the one thing pulled my attention was why there are villains in almost all fairy tales. It is very interesting to think that all fairy tales have villains. In this paper I am going to talk about who the villains in the story are, why authors talk about villains in their stories and what readers learn from them. I will use mostly about fairy tale villains such as my favorite fairy tale’s villain, Cinderella’s stepmother. When we read the stories, we can tell who the villain in the story is. They are usually described as stepmothers, witches, monsters, sneak, thief, robber and traits. For example, in the Cinderella story, Lady Tremaine is a villain. In the article “Top 10 Most Evil Disney villains”(Antonia) the author described the Lady Tremaine as self centered...

Othello

...Othello Research Paper Othello is quite an interesting tragedy; full of deception. The Moor, also known s Othello is the undisputed “hero” of our story; but his heroics are no match for the sly antagonism of the character Iago. Iago is a bitter, crafty mind that uses his political prowess and friendly swagger to deceive his victims. Desdemona has her innocence used against her and exposed for a weakness as she is blinded by what’s right in front of her. The Moor, also known as Othello is the undisputed “hero” of our story; but his heroics are no match for the sly antagonism of the character Iago. Othello isn’t our everyday hero; seeing that there aren’t too many black heroes in the seventeenth century; especially in Venice. I feel as though Othello could have done very little as a human being to avoid his fate. When Iago began to manipulate the mind of Othello in Act 3, we finally begin to see the weakness in our “hero”. Othello being the hero and man that he is, we as an audience don’t expect him to be so weak minded in such a fixable situation. This brings thoughts to my mind about how blind love can make people in this world. Sometimes we fall so in love that we can’t see the very thing that stands in the way of our love growing. Being blinded by love doesn’t always end “happily ever after”, sometimes the worst possible thing could happen when you’re in the way of a mad ”blind” man that’s carrying a sword. So if I could ask first time readers of this story a question...

...Hui-Fen Hsu The Heroic Pattern in Life of Pi 95 The Heroic Pattern in Life of Pi Hui-Fen Hsu Applied English Department National Taichung University of Science and Technology Lecturer Abstract This paper examines the universal structure of a mythological hero’s adventure in Life of Pi. The theory is based on Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces, which illustrated and distilled heroic patterns from various cultures. The hero’s journey has three stages: separation, initiation, and return. Answering a call to adventure, the hero departs from his familiar world and ventures into a region of supernatural wonder. Miraculous forces are encountered there and a decisive victory is won. He then returns from this mysterious land, bringing an elixir to bene¿t his fellow men. Through this journey of trials, the hero transforms his former self and achieves spiritual growth. Such heroes range from monster slayers to spiritual leaders such as the Buddha and Christ. Life of Pi is a fantasy adventure novel about an Indian boy who survives a shipwreck by drifting on a lifeboat with a tiger. His adventure ¿ts Joseph Campbell’s hero archetype. Similar to the mythological hero, Pi departs from his familiar land of India, answering the call for adventure to a new country. Protected by the supernatural powers of Hinduism, Catholicism, and Islam, he penetrates the dangerous and mysterious realm of the Pacific Ocean. After experiencing harsh ordeals, he returns...

Philosophy

...Hamartia in Oedipus the King According to the Aristotelian characteristics of good tragedy, the tragic character should not fall due to either excessive virtue or excessive wickedness, but due to what Aristotle called hamartia. Hamartia may be interpreted as either a flaw in character or an error in judgement. Oedipus, the tragic character in Sophocles’ Oedipus the King, certainly makes several such mistakes; however, the pervasive pattern of his judgemental errors seems to indicate a basic character flaw that precipitates them. Oedipus’ character flaw is ego. This is made evident in the opening lines of the prologue when he states "Here I am myself--you all know me, the world knows my fame: I am Oedipus." (ll. 7-9) His conceit is the root cause of a number of related problems. Among these are recklessness, disrespect, and stubbornness. Oedipus displays an attitude of recklessness and disrespect throughout the play. When he makes his proclamation and no one confesses to the murder of Laius, Oedipus loses patience immediately and rushes into his curse. Later, he displays a short temper to Tiresias: "You, you scum of the earth . . . out with it, once and for all!," (ll. 381, 383) and "Enough! Such filth from him? Insufferable--what, still alive? Get out--faster, back where you came from--vanish!" (ll. 490-492) If an unwillingness to listen may be considered stubbornness, certainly Oedipus would take advice from no one who would tell him to drop the matter of his...
