Entry 1 (24th September 2012)

It's exactly 12:01 am now, and seeing that this is my first entry, I should update a little of myself. I'm currently at Taiwan for a short vacation with my high school friends of about 10years. And they are Lee Sue Ee, Soh Pei Ling, and Chong Yee Wun. We arrived here on Saturday, 22nd September 2012, and so far it has been an hectic journey seeing that we are here on our own for the first time and we did not go through any travel agency.

Enough of updating, I just finish my STA assessment and e-mailed it to my group mates to submit later in the morning. I just hope that I did good enough despite my heavy schedule and with little initiative. Oh yes, I am now in my room while the girls are sleeping and the view is just amazingly breath-taking. How fortunate i am that I could do my assignment while looking at this sea view. The sound of the rushing waves eases my mind to relaxation and light music as my background to suit my emotion. The only thing that lack, is a partner to share this spectacular moment. Anyway, I should sleep now. Gotta be up early later for another tour around the north-east Taiwan before heading to the capital city Taipei later in the evening. I will update my entry again later whilst exploring every possibility here. Good Night !

Good afternoon, it was quite a day after waking up restlessly. Breakfast here was amazing, I mean, what more can we ask with such nature phenomenal as our spectacular view. After finishing our meal, we headed out for a walk in the street of Jiu Feng and bought somewhat souvenir for ourselves and for friends and families. I got some for my friends as well. After we were done with our souvenir shopping, it's time for us to leave this wondrous highland and head to the capital city, Taipei. So, after we manage our luggages and got into a cab, we finalised our further plans and decided to take the cab straight to the city instead of our initial plan of taking the train. Alas, here I am jolting down my morning-afternoon experience in the cab ride.

It's 9pm now and we had our dinner at the heart of Taipei. We had their local delight of "flour-rice noodle". It was indeed a slight different than our regular meal as it is a combination of sour, salty and sweet noodle sauce. After our delicious dinner, we took the subway and headed to Taipei 101, the third tallest building in the world. Needless to convey, the view was beyond spectacular as we were able to see the entire city of Taipei in its night view. But the most extraordinary experience is the method of travelling to the top and bottom, it only took roughly 35 seconds to 101th floors. And after the exhausting journey, we are now heading out back to downtown for a light supper and drink to end the night. I can't say how hungry I am since I almost fainted earlier for skipping lunch. Till tomorrow, here I wish good night and excitingly await for tomorrow's entry. Good Bye !

P/S : on our journey return to the hotel, we seem lost in the midst of the city and as we walked to search our ways back, we saw 3 men hitting and slapping a poor female and what surprised is that people around them just seem to walked away and let that poor lady to be beaten. I was so concern and wanted to call the police, but how unfortunate that I don't know the number to contact the authorities. But just minutes passes, police siren could be heard from afar and they arrest those guys and had their investigation on the spot. Seriously amazed by the efficiency of their police force here. Unlike our native police, they seem to take hours to the scene. Well, conclusion is, we manage to find our way back after asking random people the direction. Good day indeed, not so much for that lady though.

...UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN MARACAS ROYAL ROAD, MARACAS, ST. JOSEPH. Journal Entries An Assignment Presented in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Course ENGL255-04: STUDIES IN LITERATURE INSTRUCTOR: Ms. Dana Allie By Kenya Blackman 22nd January, 2015 Approval…………. Journal #1 Entry: 1 Significance of the Sunrise Have you just ever asked yourself what is the significance of the sunrise? No I have never asked either because it did not seem too relevant in my life. However, I do get up very early in the morning to get to work at six am so I see the sunrise in the car on my way to work. It brings revelation and great joy to see the sunrise I feel refreshed and it gives me a feeling as though as the God that is in heaven is so real that he gives us a sign that he is working where he is. To many people seeing the sunrise is irrelevant because the simple things in life such as nature do not amuse them. There are advantages and disadvantages of seeing the sunrise .To me some of the disadvantages are that you get tired throughout the day when you have a very long day and your eyes can sometimes burn. The advantages however, is knowing that God is real, that God is a God that shows his people that they are blessed to be waking up every single morning. You feel energized and an inner peace rather than waking late your body hurts and half the day is gone at times when you do not wake early to see the sunrise and carry out your day...

Reflective Essay On Race And Ethnicity

...In class, I was learning more about diversity. I learned about mircoaggressions, race, ethnicity, privilege, sexism, stereotypes, and much more. From these topics, discussion was held. However, I partially participated in only one of the discussions, the race/ethnicity discussion. I asked a friend to share my story because I didn’t feel comfortable doing it myself. I’ve always felt uncomfortable participating in these types of discussions. Nevertheless, from the discussions, I personally gain more awareness about these topics. I learned about how the country is affected by race, ethnicity, and stereotypes. If I could change how I participated in discussions, I wished I had participated more because I had my own thoughts and opinions that would benefit the discussions. However, I discouraged myself and chose not to share my thoughts. From journal #1 about microaggressions, I learned about how everything could be assumed as a microaggressions, even thought they weren’t meant as one. Microaggressions are everyday verbal sayings or physical actions that suggests unsympathetic insults towards other people, whether they were unintentional or intentional. During the discussion and the short...

Child Soldiers

...Background Information: The military use of children takes three distinct forms: (1) children can take direct part in hostilities as child soldiers (2) they can be used in support roles such as porters, spies, messengers, or lookouts (3) they can be used for political advantage as human shields or in propaganda. All around the world, children have been taken and were forced to become soldiers. During the 1970s, there was an agreement between international leaders that the number of child soldiers was too large. They agreed the participation of children in the army was too extensive. As child soldiers they are forced to complete various tasks. These tasks can include killing or maiming family members. This creates destruction among communities...

I also need to show more empathy and be careful of rash labels that could hinder my ability to see meanings of what is being said. My goal from this is to build relationships based on trust and understanding. The response categories can map out a pattern for me to use in listening. The text labeled these response categories as empathetic, recommendation and asking for more information(Allen,1995) My ultimate goal after this weeks assignments is to be a more empathic listener. The guidelines I identified with is to be an active listener. The active listener will demonstrate interest in what the talker in saying. The goal will be to actively listen and to create a chain of events in the communication cycle that will allow the talker to open up and share more as I actively listen. As the talker gives more valid information I will apply the response category of asking for more information by asking valid questions. This empathetic listening skill will allow for a more complete communication model. Good communication skills can also help with those emotional situation and...

Spirituality In Health Care

...This chapter directed me to understand how God has freed us from sin. The freedom that I am to understand is that of God’s love. The Biblical story for this chapter comes from John 8:1-11. This is the story of the adulterous woman and her accusers. I was asked to list her emotions when she was confronted by her accusers. I listed the following emotions: fearful, anxious, guilty, alone, wronged and denied. I have read this story on many occasions and each and every time I am “taken a back” that the older men were the first ones to step away from her or to refrain from being accusers. I have surmised that they reflected on the sins in their own lives and showed mercy towards her sins. The next journal entry I would like to speak of is related to the chapter called Under his Wings. This chapter has taught me to “rest in the Lord”, that is to trust in the Lord. This chapter reminds me of a gospel song I have heard since I was a little girl entitled” I will trust in the Lord”. This chapter also discusses the interpretation of Psalms chapter 23. The rod and staff in Psalms are protective instruments to protect the sheep from predators. In similar ways God protects us from our predators, our enemies. My journal entries continued with the understanding of Psalm 91...

Core Learning

...learning system. Being an active learner means that implement three things into your learning process: 1.) Prior leaning, 2.) Quality of processing, and 3.) Quantity of processing. CORE is an acronym for Collect, Organize, Rehearse, and Evaluate. Using these four techniques, I am automatically using the three principles of being an active learner. To help us understand being an active learner, we completed a journal entry that showed us something we've already learned by active learning. Mine was about learning how to cook in my various Home Economics classes. http://img2.targetimg2.com/collateral/TargetCom/Production%20Ready/Editorial/Short_Circuit/2013/11_November/Wk1/110313_House_CHEF_Cook_X0Y3.jpg (I put everything in a purple font so it will be easy to differentiate my journal entry from the rest of my blog) Journal Entry #3 CORE Learning Systems Chloe Maxwell 11. Journaling

...Journaling for Yourself 1. 1 Find something that can become your journal. You can use a notebook, legal pad, blank book, word processor or whatever you like for your journal. Just make sure that it contains blank pages you can write on, and that the pages are bound up so they won't scatter and get lost. Ads by Google One Man's Story  Life was good but then it started falling apart. Then dad died. www.thoughts-about-god.com 2. 2 Find a writing tool. If you chose to use a word processor in Step 1, you can skip this step. If you're using an actual book, locate a pen you like. (You can use pencil to write in your journal, but it will fade dramatically over time.) Some journal-keepers have a particular brand of pens that they prefer, or they favor a certain style (such as gel pen over ballpoint). Either way, your writing implement should feel comfortable in your hand and help you write at a pace you enjoy. 3. 3 Set up a routine. You might want to carry your journal with you wherever you go, so that you can write down your thoughts as they strike you. Or you might choose a particular time each day to sit down and clear your head. Whatever you decide, make it a habit. Journaling as part of a routine will make you more likely to stick with it. 4. 4 Chose a setting that's conducive to writing. Place yourself in an environment that makes you feel like writing, whether it's the privacy of your own room or a busy coffee shop. If you're not sure where you like to...

Journal Entries

...Tajae Gibbs Liane Tanguay English Composition 14 May 2015 Journal Entries Journal Entry #1: Should we rule society through strict displanarian order or let people organize themselves? I believe it should be through strict displanarian order. Why? Well in my opinion we need order. We need to be told what is supposed to be done and how. Another reason is because the society right now is not in order. If we was to let people organize themselves… well it would be a mess. People would be doing the complete opposite because they feel that they do not need the order. Without displanarian order this world would not be the same. I believe right now the rate for students going to college is high. If there was not displanarian order then probably a lot of kids would have dropped out of school or not even gone to school at all. I felt maybe this was my best work because I got to give my opinion on what I think about displanarian order. I got to talk about what could happen and what might not happen if displanarian order was not a choice. I had thought a lot about the question when it was given in class. Journal Entry #2: Write about the time when you felt uncomfortable Well I did not really know what to write but I did write my experience about when I went to Hawaii. I did not feel as comfortable when I was in Hawaii because all over I was seeing people who did not really speech English. I do not know what they were but I did not know that people who live in Hawaii talk different. I remember...

...Journal Entry #1 Interpersonal communication involves eye contact. For me there is nothing worse then looking down or away when you’re having a discussion with someone and especially if you’re having a serious conversation. When I was younger I had a problem with looking people in their eyes when I was being talked to but realized how bad it was when it was being done to me in a more serious matter. Another thing that could effect a conversation is a clear speaking voice. This is not only to not interpret the message clearly but to make sure things don’t have to be repeated over and over again due to the person not hearing you and running the chance of not understanding you as well. 3-5 goals I have set for myself this semester are: 1. Complete all my classes-what I mean by this is that I’m scheduled to graduate in June 2010 but up until last year I have never dropped a course which I signed up for but I have dropped one last semester and two this semester, but have picked up several to replace them. 2. Become a better parent of my six year old daughter. Everyone tells me I’m a really good parent but for me I always thing I could be doing better. I have found a free parenting class to attend and out of the tow classes I have attended I’ve learned a lot so far. 3. Don’t procrastinate. I’ve haven’t been a procrastinator but recently the last 6 months its started to grow on me. I’m unemployed at the moment and definitely should have enough time throughout the day...

Auditing and Assurance Case 1.2

...Auditing & assurance Case 1.2 1. Consider the principles, assumptions and constraints of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Define the revenue recognition principle and explain why it is important to users of financial statements. According to the revenue recognition principle, revenues are recognized when they are realized or realizable, and are earned. Thus, it does not matter when the cash is received. To break that definition down, revenues are realized when products are exchanged for cash or claims to cash. Revenues are realizable when related assets received are readily convertible to cash or claims to cash. Revenues are earned when the products are delivered or services are performed. It is important for a company to abide by this principle as it is will help investors. By not recognizing revenues when the goods or services are delivered or performed, investors are given false information. If a company is paid before they deliver a good, they have not technically earned that revenue yet. By deferring revenue in such a way, investors are provided with overstated numbers, which makes the company seem like they are performing better than they actually are. 2. Provide one example of how WorldCom violated the revenue recognition principle in this situation. WorldCom violated the revenue recognition principle when they made “top-side adjusting journal entries, often very large, that were allegedly made during the quarterly closing process in order to hit revenue...

OLI and internalization models do recognize that foreign market entry requires the bundling of MNE and complementary local assets, which they call location or country-specific advantages, but implicitly assume that those assets are freely accessible to MNEs. In contrast to both of these MNE-centric views, I explicitly consider the transactional characteristics of complementary local assets and model foreign market entry as the optimal assignment of equity between their owners and MNEs. By looking at the relative...
