“We’re all different. Especially him. But there’s something kind of fantastic about that, isn't there?” -Mrs.Fox. Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr.Fox”

This quote, for the most part sums up my life in a mere three sentences. I have always felt like the odd man out, I never truly felt content or fulfilled at any given moment of my life. I always felt the need to strive for something greater, and that something is an object I cannot see or feel and I do not have the faintest inkling of what it might be. To get to know me fully and personally one must begin with the three major aspects of life: family, school, and beyond. To begin I will start with my family. I am apart of a big traditional Mexican family. I have my mom, dad, three sisters, two brothers, …show more content…
We all followed the same predictable course. If your were in school, you would drop out or never make it past high school. If you weren’t in school you were either a teen mom or in a gang. The “You can grow up to be whatever want” attitude did not exist in my neighborhood, some of us never got the pleasure to grow up. The motto was more “Do what you gotta do”. I became ashamed of my community, I was ashamed to be affiliated with them. When I came to Woodlands, I was reluctant to tell people where I live. My ideas of going to college and becoming someone great was just a dream. My dreams were ridiculous to my peers back home, they always made it clear I would never achieve this goal. For a while, I became ashamed of my family. No one in my family had ever been to college, I have only one sister who made it through high school. My oldest brother flunked out, my oldest sister dropped out, ran away and got pregnant. I did not want to be apart of this cycle. I wanted to be like the girls at Woodlands, so I started hanging out with

Independent Film Producers

...theatre companies, independent films are also distributed and produced by firms of major film studios. These independent films are commonly distinguishable by their style and content as well as the way the personal artistic vision of the filmmaker is realized (O’Meara, 2014). Generally, independent films are produced with considerably lesser film budgets compared to major studio films. Also, the marketing of these films is usually marked by limited release, though they can also have major promoting campaigns as well as wide release. They are usually screened at international, national, or local film festivals before being distributed (O’Meara, 2014). This paper presents a biographical essay of three independent film producers; Woody Allen, Wes Anderson, and Noah Baumbach Woody Allen Woody Allen is an American writer, playwright, comedian, actor, and director. He was born in 1935 in the Bronx (Girgus, 2002). However, he was raised in Brooklyn, a town in New York. Allen was the son of Nettie, a book keeper, and Martin Konigsberg, a waiter and a jewelry engraver. He had a sister named Letty and was born in 1943. Allen’s family was Ashkenazi Jewish. .Allen’s childhood was not for the most part happy. Besides having a shaky relationship with his uncompromising and temperamental mother, Allen’s parents did not cope (Girgus, 2002). He spoke Germany rather bit in his early childhood. While going to Hebrew school for a period of eight years, Allen attended public school 99 and proceeded...

La Singularidad

...NOTE: This PDF document has a handy set of “bookmarks” for it, which are accessible by pressing the Bookmarks tab on the left side of this window. ***************************************************** We are the last. The last generation to be unaugmented. The last generation to be intellectually alone. The last generation to be limited by our bodies. We are the first. The first generation to be augmented. The first generation to be intellectually together. The first generation to be limited only by our imaginations. We stand both before and after, balancing on the razor edge of the Event Horizon of the Singularity. That this sublime juxtapositional tautology has gone unnoticed until now is itself remarkable. We're so exquisitely privileged to be living in this time, to be born right on the precipice of the greatest paradigm shift in human history, the only thing that approaches the importance of that reality is finding like minds that realize the same, and being able to make some connection with them. ...New World. It is believed that the people who Columbus saw when he came to the New World were nomadic hunters from central and East Asia who followed the buffalo and deer. When the herds moved, people moved after them because they were dependent on the animals for food. It is therefore suspected that the herds led the people out of Asia by the north-east, across the Bering Strait and into North America. They crossed the sea by an ice –bridge when it was frozen over during the last Ice-Age. They did not know that they were crossing water from one continent to another. Map 1 Amerindians migration from central Asia into North America. The Amerindians settled throughout North America and were the ancestors of the many Red Indian tribes we know today, as well as the Eskimos in the far north. In general, they were nomadic but some followed settled agricultural pursuits and developed civilizations of their own like the Mayas in South America (check internet reference for profile on this group, focus on level of development, structure of society, religion). The migration continued south through Central America into South America from where the Arawaks and Caribs migrated to the West Indies. The Arawaks and the Caribs can be traced by their languages to two different cradle lands in South America where the Indians speak related languages. The ancestors of the Arawaks probably came from...
