...8/19/2015 About Myself Hey, this is my homepage, so I have to say something about myself. Sometimes it is hard to introduce yourself because you know yourself so well that you do not know where to start with. Let me give a try to see what kind of image you have about me through my selfdescription. I hope that my impression about myself and your impression about me are not so different. Here it goes. I am a person who is positive about every aspect of life. There are many things I like to do, to see, and to experience. I like to read, I like to write; I like to think, I like to dream; I like to talk, I like to listen. I like to look at the clouds in the sky with a blank mind, I like to do thought experiment when I cannot sleep in the middle of the night. I like flowers in spring, rain in summer, leaves in autumn, and snow in winter. I like to sleep early, I like to get up late; I like to be alone, I like to be surrounded by people. I like country’s peace, I like metropolis’ noise; I like the beautiful west lake in Hangzhou, I like the flat cornfield in Champaign. ...very unlikely. Unless, of course, going back is your decision, but then it's likely not a very conscious decision, and so the question arises as to whether or not going back even counts as having made a decision in the first place. There are two kinds of decisions, good decisions and bad decisions. Making decisions involves gathering facts and information that supports one decisions or another. For example if your hungry and are in the kitchen, most people make a decision on checking what’s in the fridge first because that’s the most common place to find food (in most cases). According to the Princeton university researchers have found that making the wrong decisions might be the information that the brain received not the brain it self that made the wrong decision. Another words, the fault might be coming from the information your brain downloads everyday. A lot of decisions arise from errors that your brain receives or the noises it hears at the time your thinking of a decision. Making a good decision comes from different parts of your brain as well. For one, studies have showed that good decisions usually come to you when you are in a good mood. Witch makes sense because when you’re in a bad mood, your brain is under distress leading you to make judgmental calls witch; intern can cause you to make a bad decision. “Good decisions come from experience, and experience comes from bad...

...My Special Self Who am I? Who am I? I asked myself this question and now I know the answer.Simply put, I am a realistic dreamer.I think that sums it up about who I am and how I come across others. What is really amazing is how I came up with it. Many things can be used to describe me.I am humble, smart, caring, loving, and gentle.I help others whenever I can and I always do my best so that I won't ever say I just tried.I am respectable to those older than me and I love spending time wit my family. Those are just a few things to describe my character. While all of those things are great they can also be used to decribe others. When I narrowed it down I went with something that was truly me.I am a realistic dreamer.I am always honest with everyone.I don't like to lie because it is extremely senseless to me.Not telling the truth only causes you to continue to tell another after another.I stand behind the quote, "Honesty is the best policy!". I am a dreamer. It is truly apart of me.My zodiac sign is Pisces and it details that Pisceans are dreamers.Sometimes it may tend to be a good and a bad thing, but I try to positive all the time.Everything around me inspires me.I dream about my career and my life ahead often.I love to create things in my mind and watch them come to life.I write poems, I draw, and I like to sing.So when I am asked who am I, I'll be sure to say that I am a realistic...

...When I was younger, I watched cars zoomed back and forth. I saw people riding bicycles and rollerblades while they strolled along the streets. What caught my attention was the airplane that flew across the sky that disappeared over the horizon. I always wondered what it would be like to travel to another place and experience another country's culture. It would be fun to go to South America, Australia, Europe, or even China. Well, I had my opportunity in 7th grade to go to France in Europe, and what I remembered from this trip was an injury that I probably would not forget. The place I stayed in France was a house not too far from Paris. It was in the rural areas of France, but it was a lovely place. My friend, Julien, showed me around the house and introduced me to his family. They were all very kind. Everything was going smoothly and I waited for the upcoming days of excitement. One day, on a weekend, Julien gathered some friends to have a picnic and to go on a bike journey. There were a total of 6 including me, 4 guys and 2 girls. Julien lent me one of his bikes, which was not the best because the wheels kept jamming, but usable. On the way, we stopped at stores to pick up snacks and accessories. We even stopped by a shop that had all kinds of explosives and fireworks. At this point I was really excited because in the shop were small dynamites, the size of USB drives to rockets that would shoot in the sky to make pretty sparkles in the sky. I eagerly paid for several boxes...

...Today, fashion is always changing and especially with in the United States. People here are very picky and when clothes become old or are out of style, the unwanted clothes must go somewhere. In this film, it explains how and where most unwanted apparel ends up. People in the U.S. are not aware of where their donated clothes end up. Most of the secondhand clothes are donated to charity, charity then sells them to dealers, and dealers ships or sells them to the people in Africa. Secondhand shirts are a big market in Zambia, Africa and many of the people turn to this business as for income. Many of the Zambians depend on second hand clothes to survive. Although it may look like it’s a good to donate old clothes to Africa, it is getting them no where. This market has driven out all the textile manufacturers and cause many lost jobs in Africa. Africa is still an undeveloped country, because there is a huge pool of unskilled and uneducated people. The country is in debt due to corruption within the government and banks lending many to unsuccessful businesses. The secondhand clothes industry contributes to Africa’s third world debt and globalization, because it is a business that requires no skills and education, which equals to slower development. Africa is in a very difficult position due to those issues and it may take a long time for the country to progress. United States can help by regulating on dealers who are making a business out of donated clothes;...

In a time when the job market is scarce, you must be able to sell yourself to a potential employer. Employers want the best products to operate their businesses so you must make yourself the best product out there. Selling yourself is an important part of the modern job search. There are many techniques available to achieve this and this is my plan on how I will sell myself in my new career. A brand is defined as: "A name, term, sign, symbol or design, or a combination of these intended to identify the goods or services of one seller or group of sellers and differentiate them from those of competitors". Ask yourself; what kind of product am I, what brand of person will my future employer see me as. Joseph Perera from the Canadian Institute of Management said that a self-brand enables you to convince potential employers to hire you. Here are the main components of developing a self-brand: * Discovering yourself * Defining and building your brand * Developing your resources and building a network * Marketing your brand "Your personality, values, ethics, business standards, and everything that makes you who you are, are all fundamental parts of your personal...

... Plan the structure, or framework, of the essay. A limit of 250 words is very short, but it must still follow conventional essay format and have an introduction, body and conclusion. Planning before writing helps keep the essay on track, especially when written under a time constraint. Limit the topic by concentrating only on the question in the title. Underline the key words in the title to help fix the topic firmly in mind. When writing, only include examples that directly answer the question. Avoid rambling around the subject. Get straight to the point. 2 Write the introduction, or thesis statement, in one or two sentences that use around 25 words. This will state the topic of the essay and the argument that the essay will prove in the remaining words. In longer essays, there is scope to include more than one point of view or take into account and compare or discuss differing arguments on the same subject. In a 250-word essay, there is little scope to expand. Choose just one viewpoint, argument or opinion to write as the introduction. Write the body of the essay. Use short sentences that stick to the point without elaboration. Include an example that illustrates the thesis statement. One or two well-chosen examples are sufficient in a 250-word essay. For the body, write either two or three paragraphs, allowing a total word count of no more than 200 words. Allow one paragraph for each argument. 4 Write the conclusion. This summarizes the introduction and body...

...personal essay is intimacy’ (Lopate) Write the intimate life of a chosen text using the thinking and themes of any three weeks of the course. My skin controls me. It contains and constrains me, protects and projects me. It is a living coat spread out all over me without beginning or end. Seamless. Only through it can I feel and process the world. And it is through this coating that the world sees me. It is the screen on which social messages are displayed, thoughts are reflected. My skin controls me: dictating much of what I do. I guzzle water and nibble on nuts apply potions and lotions, don helmets and hats: All at the behest of my skin. Drinking too much, sleeping too little, lying too long in the sun and I am compelled to feel guilty. Connor says ‘the skin is not a part of the body’ (Connor 2002, 4) and indeed, my skin is like a domineering despot. It petulantly exposes my neglect by painting dark circles under my eyes, smudging the glow and scattering blemishes. It is the reflection of my soul, separate but inseparable from myself - my ‘body’s twin’ (Connor 2002, 5). It is this ‘twin’ (Connor 2002, 5) or my ‘immaterial, ideal, ecstatic’ (Connor 2002. 5) imagining of my skin that constitutes what Cooley described as a ‘looking glass self’. (described by Coser 1997) This concept states that ‘an individual’s self-conception result(s) from assimilating the judgments of their significant others’ (discussed by Mikala, 2012). What we see in this mirror is not our...

...Ownership directly connects with a person's sense of self because through ownership over the intangible parts of life, a person is able to develop who they want to become. The ownership over thoughts, feelings, actions, ideas, etc offers a responsibility to the individual that then relates to the individual's sense of who they are. Many psychologists state that a person has sole ownership over their feelings, thoughts and ideas. This concept illustrates the idea that ownership connects with a sense of self because when an individual owns a piece of themselves then they can become individualized and develop who they are separate from what society tells them to be. Every thought and action is one of their own as psychologists describe which,...

...Every person has its deepest roots of love; and it defines people's action. As for me, the roots of my love comes from my family. the love that my family gives me is what I call pure coz' it is immeasurable and they're giving it without asking for returns. They're always at my back when things get tough and has guided me to be the better person that I am. I also learned that I have to love myself first because if I don't have enough love for myself, I can't possibly have any to share. Another thing is that, were all happiest and have that sense of contentment when we're doing what we love. As for me , if I have some time to spare, I paint or play the flute and realizing that dong what we love that we feel most alive. Celebrate being beautifully imperfect! Another Agustinian values that I have developed is INTERIORITY. Before I have body issues and insecurities. But I realize that I need to developed my self-confidence and the first step to achieve that is to be grateful for what I am born with and that I need to embrace my uniqueness. I just need to believe in my self and that is possible. As what they said, "you are what you think you are". If we think that we are beautiful, our actions will follow our thoughts. I saw my true reflection from those people who loves me for who I am which are my family and...
