Image Paper – Class C

Based upon the class, readings, and personal experience related to Class C, you are to write a paper centered around a developing image. This paper is due at the end of our next class session. Your image should be on some aspect of emerging or young adult development relevant to the week’s reading and class exercises and take one of the following forms:

· Image development – use this option if you have no prior image of the adult development concept or concepts in question.
· Image refinement – to be used if you had a prior image that has been refined by the reading and class exercises.
· Image reversal – to be used if your image has changed from one position to another [such as “viewing aging in negative light to viewing aging in a positive light]
· Image busting – to be used if one’s formerly confident image has been challenged but one does not have anything to replace it with. Rather, one has several questions and things one needs to examine more fully. Some possible images for Class C might include:
· Myth v. reality in emerging and/or young adult development
· Nature of young adult cognition
· Erikson’s concepts of identity and intimacy and how are they related to one another?
· Cultural and/or gender issues in emerging adulthood and/or young adult development
Once one has selected an appropriate image, the task is to draw upon supporting material from three sources as related to that image. These three sources are the assigned readings, information from class discussions and exercises, and relevant personal experience (personal, family, friends, work-related). Your paper should also have a conclusion.

Criteria for evaluation include:
· timely submission,
· paper mechanics (spelling, grammar, formatting, neatness, referencing, length),
· inclusion of specific qualifying material from three sources – assigned readings, class exercises, lectures, discussions, and relevant personal, family and/or work-related experience.
· critical thinking (well reasoned; arguments well-supported),
· qualification of remarks (well-chosen illustrations and examples to back up instances of image change),
· integration of material from above stated sources (organized, coherent--not choppy, fragmented),
· sound conclusion (provides a clear summary of one’s chosen image that effectively and concisely summarizes the argument advanced in the paper).

Paper may be written using any major style [APA, MLA, etc.] For references to text, one is permitted simply to use parenthetical citations such as [Text, p. 217] or [Text, pp. 213-220] Outside sources must be fully documented and included in a works cited section at the end of your paper.

... G5: 2nd essay My Fall Term at Duquesne My fall term at Duquesne has been most challenging term in my stay at US. I faced a lot of difficulties at the beginning of this term despite this is not my first term at Duquesne, so things went not as I expected. It is such feelings which make life interesting as we always have new problems and challenges to deal with but also have some interesting events going on. As soon this semester started I tried to do my best to develop my skills and to incorporate to this new culture. I faced two main difficulties which made me more stronger than before In facing problem. One difficulties that I faced at the beginning of this semester is some misunderstanding in the registration of my classes. The head of ESL program told me that I did not register for the Grammar and Graduate Research Paper. I was shocked because I already registered for these two classes before I went to Saudi Arabia in the Summer. they told me that there were no more spaces for me. I faced a bad treatment which made me angry and so depressed. They may have missed my file, so they did not register me. Fortunately, they overcame the problem, and they opened another grammar section. Another thing which I did not like they put me in the Term Paper class instead of the Graduate Research Paper which made me sad, but recently I realized it is better for me. Another difficulties that I faced is when I took my first academic class, I felt uncomfortable...

...The minds of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle Submitted to: Sr. Dennis San Gregorio Reported by: Legaspi, Mary Rose T. 1bsed SOCRATES BIOGRAPHY OF SOCRATES SOCRATES, the celebrated Greek philosopher and moralist, was born at Athens in the year 469 B.C. His father, Sophroniskus, was a sculptor and he followed the same profession in the early part of his life. His family was respectable in descent, but humble in point of means. He had the usual education of the Athenian citizen, which included not only a knowledge of the mother tongue, and readings in the Greek poets, but also the elements of arithmetic, geometry and astronomy as then known. Excepting in connection with his philosophical career, few circumstances of his life are known. He served as a hoplite, or heavy-armed foot-soldier, at the siege of Potidaea, at the battle of Deliurn, and at Amphipolis, and his bravery and endurance were greatly extolled by his friends. PLATO BIOGRAPHY OF PLATO Plato was born around the year 428 BCE in Athens. His father died while Plato was young, and his mother remarried to Pyrilampes, in whose house Plato would grow up. Plato's birth name was Aristocles, and he gained the nickname Platon, meaning broad, because of his broad build. His family had a history in politics, and Plato was destined to a life in keeping with this history. He studied at a gymnasium owned by Dionysios, and at the palaistra of Ariston of Argos. When he was young he studied music and poetry. According...

...Justin Williams Research Review 17 June 2012 “The role of affect in attitude formation: A Classical conditioning approach” After review “The role of affect in attitude formation: A Classical conditioning approach” I came to the conclusion that Evaluative conditioning (EC) refers to the formation or change of an attitude towards an object following that object’s pairing with positively or negatively valenced stimuli. We provide evidence that EC can occur through an implicit misattribution mechanism in which an evaluative response evoked by a valenced stimulus is incorrectly and implicitly attributed to another stimulus, forming or changing an attitude towards this other stimulus. Five studies measured or manipulated variables related to the potential for the misattribution of an evaluation, or “source confusability.” Greater EC was observed when participants’ eye gaze shifted frequently between a valenced and neutral stimulus (Studies 1 & 2), when the two stimuli appeared in close spatial proximity (Study 3), and when the neutral stimulus was made more perceptually salient than the valenced stimulus due to its larger size (Study 4). In other words, conditions conducive to source confusability increased EC. Study 5 provided evidence for multiple mechanisms of EC by comparing the effects of mildly evocative valenced stimuli (those evoking responses that might more easily be misattributed to another object) to more strongly evocative stimuli. Social psychological theory...

This will make for higher taxes, and cuts in government spending. D.) Worse case scenario, benefits will be also be cut. I sequenced my paragraphs as such to show my audience the severity of Social Security benefit decline in the near future. Most people are not aware of how Social Security even works. I had chosen this topic because I do not agree with the idea, that there is no need for retirement plans because Social Security pays for itself. That thought process is false. I am here to disprove that claim and show my audience that is imperative to have a retirement plan as soon as you are employed. The earlier the better and having more than one is ideal. I plan to be able to educate my audience as well. I will be researching the best retirement plans. Showing my audience how and where to invest is key in persuading them to believe what I am saying and eventually gain their trust. This will be somewhat...

I think our team needs to come up with objectives that are clear and consistent throughout to improve our team performance. There was one member that the assessment considered him a thinker but lacks communication and there was myself who like to communicate but lacks thinking about the solution as a whole. But I will stress that our team as a whole communicates very well on paper and that’s the biggest huddle and a strong part with this team. It’s my opinion that we should set ground rules and negotiates a Team Charter at the beginning of our project; we should set up the team for success. We could ensure that everyone understands why the project needs to be carried out, knows what the objectives and measures of success are and knows who is doing what, with what resources. Since our differences are pretty close in scope, we should be able to trust one another and empower the team to their part on any given task. This will motivate the team and bring us together. ...a more modernized world, people began to dictate what a male should do, and what a female should do. With this, gender stereotyping has developed itself into an “ideally-structured” way of life through which most humans struggle to attain self-worth and identity transparency. We’ve come a long way into seeing men as a figure of dominance and strength while women as a stature of humility and meekness, which later on raised the bar too high for women to equal themselves with men. As such, one might sense my great defiance towards men overpowering the women force. Aside from the fact that I, myself, am a female, I strongly believe, that we, women should be leveled with men. We’ve wasted centuries seeing girls merely as part of the household while boys are able to excel in their respective fields. We struggled with the naivety we, ourselves made back in the past years and this until now, had crawled its way up, for me to even notice it inside the Ateneo campus. Yes, my stay here in Ateneo has somehow proven that women are deemed not as men’s equals, and this is something I hate about being a woman. Firstly, it seems so easy for men to just project their true selves in public without any inhibitions while we, women have to act like preppy Disney princesses who would always look after their images to society. A group of college jocks, for example, would walk through the SEC walk, blasting the place with their oh-man-that-was-so-f*cking-awesome kind of conversations. They...

With this many customers comes a large responsibility to maintain competitive costs and services. Supplying electricity, including customer and business revenue, is a costly venture. To stay viable and competitive, extensive research into alternative forms of energy is essential. First Energy spends much of their time and expenses into this research and it explains itself further in the following paragraphs. First energy commits itself to abiding by the rules, regulations, laws, and environmental policies in effect (First Energy, 2010). As pollution laws become stricter and fines increase for higher than allowed pollution levels, First energy must find efficient and cheaper ways to supply electrical energy. ...taking this course was some Cesarean births are not necessary but are used because they are more convenient for the medical staff. Before I acquired this course, I thought if I drank the same amount of alcohol as male that our alcohol level would be moderately the same. Turns out I was incorrect. According to the textbook, research shows that when a male and a female with the same body weight consume the same amount of alcohol, the woman will have the significantly higher blood alcohol level. This means that I could drink 2 ounces of whiskey and I will have a higher blood alcohol level than a male who weighed the same as me and also consumed the same amount of the same whiskey. This showed me that I had to be more careful about limiting my alcohol consumption. I also learnt that women tend to have more direct effects when it comes to alcohol. In other words if you are a female and you consume a great deal of alcohol; chances are that you are at a higher risk of developing liver disease, ulcers, brain damage, high blood pressure, etc. Another element we discussed in class was childbirth, I recently discovered Cesarean births which are also known as C-sections are necessary if a vaginal delivery would be too risky but the rates of C-sections have increased because they are more convenient for the medical staff. We previously watched a video in class about alternative approaches to childbirth and natural birth came up. This type of approach helps redistribute power so that...
