My Trip To Cedar Point Essay

Everyone tries to understand their purpose in the world, a special place can help to uncover the mystery of what that is. My family has a tradition to go to Sandusky, Ohio each year to visit the amazing amusement park, Cedar Point. The ride there was like waiting for the first snowfall. We drove across the bumpy highways and looking to our left and right saw enormous fields full of bright yellow and green plants. Our conversations consisted of everyone in the car while we all laughed and smiled the whole ride. The excitement of going to Cedar Point was so transmitted that you could see it on everyone’s faces. These times can show a lot about you, even to yourself which can help you in your life forever. I always remember waking up with my friend Connor who would spend the night the day before the trip so that we were all together before we left. The amazing thing about our trip is that we get excited before we even step foot onto the paved jungle of rollercoasters. You truly can feel the excitement and learn what makes …show more content…
As you get closer you see the genuine size of each tree in the jungle of coasters. The road takes you right next to a towering ride called the Millenium Force. It truly makes you want to get out of the car and just hop onto the ride. Our family always stays at a hotel called The Hotel Breakers. The walls are all painted as if the building was fifty years old. In the hotel there is this feeling of warmth and humidity by the lake that brings an exciting feeling to knowing of the fun you will have. We race up the hotel halls talking about which rides we are going on first. In the hotel room you see beautiful views of the lake and of the rides. We make a game plan of when and where everyone will meet and then My sister, Sophie, Connor, and I sprint into the park like wild gazelles starting a

My Name Is

...My name is Keith Curry, so I have been told for the last 27 years. I’m here at Henry Ford Community Collage pursuing an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy to be followed by, if not proceeded by, a Bachelor’s degree in the field of Medical Management from our neighbor U of M Dearborn. Both of these degrees will be crowned with the completion of a Master’s program in the field of Physician’s Assistant. As a child it was never a dream of mine to be a doctor or any kind of assistant of one. So what brought me here? Let’s see if we can figure it out together shall we. School was never really my thing. I mean I have the aptitude for it but just never cared for it. In my teens I always wrote it off as one of those old clichés. You know the ones I’m referring to. “Preacher’s kids are the worst”, “Doctor’s kids do the most drugs”, and of course my favorite “Teacher’s kids are the ones most likely to hate school”. Well, like you I fall into that teacher’s kid category. My mom recently retired from the Detroit Public School system after 21 years of service as an elementary school teacher, 3 years as an assistant principle, and 11 years as a principle. I guess you can say my mother prepped me for collage life early. I can remember sitting in the back of lecture halls at Wayne State doing my homework while she was in class working on her Masters. The “Wedding Cake” building was my second home as I sat in on many a meeting with her professor’s and counselors. I promised myself I...

Lebanon the Israel Hamas Hezbollah Conflict

...Lebanon The Israel Hamas Hezbollah Conflict The United States and the Israel-Hezbollah War Prof. Jeremy Pressman Although American soldiers were not involved in the fighting in Lebanon and Israel this past summer, the United States was nonetheless a central player in the war. U.S. policy was defined by staunch American support for Israel and repeated calls by U.S. officials to use the crisis as a means to get at the root causes of violence in the region. What were the American objectives in this war? Does a preliminary assessment suggest that Washington took steps toward achieving them? How does U.S. policy on the Arab-Israeli conflict look moving forward? American Objectives in the Israel-Hezbollah War Two global foreign policy commitments informed the United States view of the Israel-Hezbollah confrontation this past summer; the war on terror and the democratization of the Middle East. Since September 11, 2001, the American war on terror has been defined to include several different international actors. In his speech of September 20, 2001, President George W. Bush stated that the war would “not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated,” and that “any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.” In addition, he warned, terrorists could not be accommodated but instead must be met by force. This approach has most directly been applied to al-Qaeda and its satellites...

This is one of them. In late afternoon, in the autumn of 1989, I'm at my desk, looking at a blinking cursor on the computer screen before me, and the telephone rings. On the other end of the wire is a former Iowan named Michael Johnson. He lives in Florida now. A friend from Iowa has sent him one of my books. Michael Johnson has read it; his sister, Carolyn, has read it; and they have a story in which they think I might be interested. He is circumspect, refusing to say anything about the story, except that he and Carolyn are willing to travel to Iowa to talk with me about it. That they are prepared to make such an effort intrigues me, in spite of my skepticism about such offers. So I agree to meet with them in Des Moines the following week. At a Holiday Inn near the airport, the introductions are made, awkwardness gradually declines, and the two of them sit across from me, evening coming...

Living History

...___________________________ LIVING HISTORY Hillary Rodham Clinton Simon & Schuster New York • London • Toronto • Sydney • Singapore To my parents, my husband, my daughter and all the good souls around the world whose inspiration, prayers, support and love blessed my heart and sustained me in the years of living history. AUTHOR’S NOTE In 1959, I wrote my autobiography for an assignment in sixth grade. In twenty-nine pages, most half-filled with earnest scrawl, I described my parents, brothers, pets, house, hobbies, school, sports and plans for the future. Forty-two years later, I began writing another memoir, this one about the eight years I spent in the White House living history with Bill Clinton. I quickly realized that I couldn’t explain my life as First Lady without going back to the beginning―how I became the woman I was that first day I walked into the White House on January 20, 1993, to take on a new role and experiences that would test and transform me in unexpected ways. By the time I crossed the threshold of the White House, I had been shaped by my family upbringing, education, religious faith and all that I had learned before―as the daughter of a staunch conservative father and a more liberal mother, a student activist, an advocate for children, a lawyer, Bill’s wife and Chelsea’s mom. For each chapter, there were more ideas I wanted to discuss than space allowed; more people to include than could be named; more places visited than could be described...

Occasionally an outsider moved to this town, in the northern tier of the state, but the flow is almost always in the other direction, away from, not into. And the few that do come to stay aren’t from California, a place that to this day, decades after it had long faded, is believed to be an incubator for radical lifestyles and subversive politics.   4   Arthur  Dobrin     Or perhaps her name—Ailanthus—a strange one, where here, if you are named after flora it is Rose or Violet or another sweet smelling flower that could be grown in the garden.
