I love my Dodge Ram pick-up truck. It’s over ten years old and we’ve been together now for half of that time. Five years ago I began my search for a vehicle and I knew it was going to be a long day so I dragged my mother along with me for the company. I planned on driving to car lots around the state because I knew exactly what I wanted. It was to be a black on black pick-up truck. I even had a couple of make and models in mind such as a Dodge Ram or GMC Sierra. So, this wasn’t going to be leisurely looking, this was a quest. While driving from one car lot to another all of a sudden something caught my eye off to the side of the road. It caught my attention so quickly as if it threw its shine from its glistening coat right into my eyes. I had planned on driving right by that car lot, figuring that they never had anything like what I was searching for. I immediately turned around and drove back. I couldn’t believe my eyes as I drew near. It was perfect.
Sitting on top of a hill facing me was the most beautiful truck I’ve ever seen. It felt like it was sitting there just for me. The way the extra-large and wide grill protruded from the front of the truck made it mean looking. The dense head lights on either side of it looked like two wicked eyes. It was tough looking. The black paint looked as if it was still wet. The truck was massive and beefy. It was wider than tall sitting on four sturdy plump tires. The treads were deep and thick. I opened the driver’s door to peek inside, hoping the inside would be as breath-taking as the outside and to my surprise it was.
The outside of this truck was so tough looking but the inside so gentle. Everything on the inside was black. The truck was so tall, I had to step up on the foot bar and grab onto the over-head handle to pull myself up. The seats were the blackest of black leather. As I sat down I sunk into the soft plush leather. The seat wrapped around me like a glove, like a mother hugging their child. The dash board was flawless and reflective like it just got cleaned. Even though the truck was older, it smelled like new. The carpet was plush like the center piece of a luxurious living room. The inside was generous in size and the back seat was just as spacious as the front. It was perfection and I put a down payment without delay.
Since then, I attempted to add to perfection by installing an after- market muffler to make it sound as nasty as it looks. It’s now the favorite part of my truck. I still smile every time I turn the key. It’s so loud and forceful when it starts that the truck pulls side to side a couple times. The intense roar sounds like its saying “look at me now and get out of my way” and has even set off sensitive car alarms when starting up.
My truck is now over ten years old and lost a lot of its sparkle. Once flawless paint is now damaged and wearing off in many areas. Underneath my truck is all rusted from water, salt, and age. The rust has now traveled up the sides and around my doors. My two friendly side rails that help me into my truck are now sadly just one. One became so rusted it fell off when going over a small bump. Luckily it was the passenger side rail. I’ve replaced lights and expensive parts, made various repairs and put on many miles. It’s not the most fuel efficient vehicle as I should probably get a second job to fill it up, but it drives. It drives me wherever I want to go and has never failed me. Every time I turn the key it’s ready to roll.
I love my pick-up truck.

Personal Narrative: My First Truck

...I had a hard time to face when I had to get my first truck. My grandpa had one and it was a decent condition and already knew what it had been through and how it runs and works. It was only a standard cab and it couldn't pull as much but the better thing was that it was older and more rare. Before I had turned sixteen I had to figure out what I wanted. So I started looking at trucks online and I found one I wanted. It was newer though and that was the only other reason I didn’t like it. It was an extended cab which meant more room or if i wanted to take more people I could. also it could pull more. It was a clean truck over all. But the thing was I was going to have to buy this one which the one my grandpa already had was going to be given...

Bad Drivers Research Paper

...first got my license I was on top of the world. I was handed the keys of my very first car and that's when it all began. My parents instilled a lot of trust in me when it came to being behind the wheel. Within the next two years I had given them many reasons to not trust me. Examples such as; hitting Mr. Pages truck within a week of having my own car, ramming into a pole with my dads truck, and lastly getting pulled over going 91 are all wonderful reasons of why I am the worst driver in the world. I blame my lack of driving skills on my "focussing issues". I was I new driver, with a new car so I obviously thought I was pretty cool. I was wrong! I had just got done washing my 2012 Malibu, just in time to go show it off at practice. I rolled down all the windows and opened up the sun roof. I put my sunglasses on and cranked the music. I thought I was pretty awesome. Once again, I was completely wrong. I drove into that parking lot like I owed the place, which was my first mistake. Second mistake, I was driving way too fast and thought I would be able to fit in between Mr. Pages truck and someone else's car. Me and my shiny new car pulled into that spot at a vertical angle, ramming right into the front of Mr. Page's truck. I wasn't so...

...morning to reach this unfamiliar auto dealership. Her trips to "civilization" are limited, and she has the wide-eyed look of a tourist, combined with the happy expression of someone who has finally reached her destination. REACTION SHOT on Tony, as he sees her come in. He stands at his desk, smiling. Tony Long trip? Betty Honey, you don't know the half of it. A three-hour drive in the valley, and what's it like out there? One hundred degrees. Nice and cold in here though . . . Tony Air conditioning. Betty Yeah. I guess so. Well anyway, I made it. ANOTHER ANGLE-as Betty reaches into a large, patchwork-quilt handbag and takes out a newspaper, turned to the auto ads. Betty Might as well get down to business. I know what I want. This pickup truck you got advertised, the one here for eleven thousand, three hundred, and ninety-nine dollars.ANOTHER ANGLE-as Tony goes forward and looks at the newspaper ad, at the same time introducing himself. Tony Tony Sulka. Betty Betty Algur. From up near Vacaville. Tony Well come on over and sit down. Vacaville . . . that means "cow town," doesn't it? Betty Six hundred of them on our ranch, the last time I counted. Tony How about a cup of coffee? He leads her over to his desk and sits her down, but remains standing himself. Betty Okay. More than two hundred miles. Drove it all in an old Ford pickup, with the original engine and every one of the original rattles. I called over the phone, and the man said he'd give me three thousand dollars in trade...

...Best Personal Leadership Story My best leadership story came last summer while I was employed with Staples in a small town known as Brownwood, Texas. Our store consisted of a general manager, three supervisors, and five sales associates. Since I was just working for that summer, I was one of the five sales associates. One day while I was working the customer service desk, our general manager and the supervisor that were on the clock, assisted with a fundraiser event Staples sponsored. Even though I worked the least amount of time out of all the sales associates while at the same time, my boss decided to place me in charge over them. They were gone for no more than 20 minutes and chaos broke out in the store. We had about 50 customers within 20 minutes and at the same time we had our freight truck show up about 14 hours early. Already understaffed, I had to come up with a way for the customers to be happy with our service but at the same time unload the truck in a reasonable amount of time. I was able to calm down the chaos by placing people around the store in the most efficient spot while I unloaded the whole truck with the truck driver. We were able to work at the highest efficiency possible, which allowed for the customers to leave happy and with the right products they came in looking for. A week after that day, my boss received a total number of 11 complements either by email, phone or people visiting the store again. Some of the complements ranged from: “That son did a...

Mexico

...Mexico! I am a freshman attending the University of Arizona in Tucson and the second semester is coming to a close in a couple short weeks. I must have done something good because I had recently been granted permission from my parents to bring my pickup truck to campus to use for the remainder of the year. My parents had previously been against me driving anything that wasn't powered by my own “Chevro-legs". I am driving South on the SR-85 in my blue 1995 regular cab Chevrolet with my roommate Chris and good friend Sean sitting beside me on the cloth bench-style seat. We’re loaded with a cooler full of snacks, beer and water, a sleeping bag per person, and around $300 between us. We reach Why Arizona and I pull into a Mobile gas station to fill up on American gas for the weekend; I think we bought Mexican insurance here too, but not worth describing. I remember the gas prices fairly reasonable still in the summer of the 2003; so gas ran me probably thirty five bucks for my eighteen gallon fuel tank. Mexican insurance was twenty dollars a day and we paid for coverage for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Fully loaded and ready to get rolling with this entirely spontaneous vacation that was only happening because the previous night I learned that my seventeen year old brother was going to be in Rocky Point for his first time that weekend. Upon hearing this news, I gathered up Sean and Chris the next morning and they took very, very, very little convincing that it was time...

...directions indicated on any sign so erected. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 182 (2). ASK FOR THE POLICE OFFICER’S DISCLOSURE On Feb 11, 2013 at approximately 10:30 pm, I was heading east towards Ajax exiting the off ramp at Westney Road, travelling about 30-35 km/hour due to the poor weather conditions. There was a mid-size transport truck to the right of my van as I proceeded to the light. As I approached the intersection, very soon after the first pedestrian crossing line the light turned amber. Both myself and the truck continued to turn left, the truck driver crossed the intersection before me because I slowed down while turning. That night it was freezing rain and there was snow on the ground. Just a few days earlier there was one of biggest winter storm to hit the city in five years, on February 11, 2013 we were still feeling the after affects of the storm. I made what I knew to be a safe turn into the intersection. I was stopped by the police officer and when asked “do you know why you were stopped” I answered no. The officer explained that I went through an amber light and the only reason he stopped me instead of the truck was because the truck had crossed the intersection before me. I explained to him that I did not turn on a...

Why A Mexican Taco Truck Analysis

...Why A Taco Truck? The idea to start Willie Ray’s was birthed from the lack of representation of authentic Mexican taco food trucks with a west coast feel located in the south. While attending college in Georgia, I craved a piece of my Mexican culture and community from the west coast. Living in Los Angeles anyone could grab an authentic Mexican taco anywhere for a low price that was fulfilling. Similar to most out-of-state college students not being able to afford the luxury of eating out or grabbing a quick bite to eat; let alone travel across town to a half way decent restaurant located within the city, most students wished for a taste of a signature food item from back home for comfort. That little piece of comfort is like a piece of heaven....

My dad has always liked diesel trucks, so of course I will because he’s always had a diesel since I was born and he’s taught me the basics of them. The big part of the big thing I want to work on about diesel trucks is building the engines to where they can have insane amounts of power and torque without it breaking something inside the truck.
