Essay About My Writing Experience

...My Writing experience: The Good The Bad and The Ugly I can recall a time when I had to write a paper for English Composition I. I was attending Ivy Tech Community College at that time. The professor asked the class to write a paper about our major, my major was Early Childhood Education. This experience I had at Ivy Tech was not my first when it came to writing a formal essay, but it was just as nerve wrecking as the first time. When I began writing formal essay papers, in high school, it was not easy for me. In the first part of this essay, I review my experience with writing in my childhood, then I will be talking about my terrifying writing experience in high school, and finally the years that have passed since I have not written any formal essays. In the second part of the paper, I describe my experience with Microsoft word, my experience with using MLA formatting style, and my experience using documentation in research papers. In my childhood, I have been state to state and attended...

Essay About My Writing Process

...with the thought in my head that I was quiter proficient at writing essays. In high school I winged most of my essays and still received high grades, but I was taught in this class that just writing the essay wasn’t all that I needed to do. In the beginning of the class with essay 1 I just wrote it in one sequence, never stopping to try and reorganizing it. My organization skills were off balance and I had trouble with mistaking my corrections for revising. As I made my way to essay 2 and received an 81% I realized that writing in sequential order and not paying attention to the organization of my essay wasn’t going to cut it. I took the criticism on essay 2 and applied it to my essay 3. I wrote essay 3 from start to finish like I normally did because writing out of order still confuses my train of thought. After I finished writing it though, I took it to peer review and really tried to gain something out of it. By participating in the peer review, I got to get constructive feedback that actually helped me revise my essay once I revisited it. Peer review was a positive experience that truly helped me. By the time I finished essay 3, my writing process had become more thorough,...

However, before I start exploring my horizons, which is going to be filled with new opportunities and memories to be made, it’s best to reflect on my experience in AP Language and Composition with Mrs.Miles throughout junior year. ...US, education system based on thinking, and thinking is showed with writing. Especially, in university, every student has to write an essay. I learned this situation when I decided to come in the US for education. Before I come to the US, I had to take a preparation course for English in Turkey. That’s why my writing history started like that spontaneously. I really don’t like to write as my personality; however, this is a necessity for enhancing the ability to write an essay. Particularly, academic writing is the most important part of the studying in university, and my earlier writing experience is related just academic writing which is some type of essay such as, process essay, cause and effect essay and compare-contrast essay. One of the types of essay that I wrote first is process essay. That was really important experience because I had never written this type of essay. A process essay explains a process by either defining it, explaining the steps for completing the process oneself or by showing how a thing works. My process topic was “Things to Do in Case of Hurricane”. I explained the processes such as before the hurricane, during the hurricane and after the hurricane. The second type of the essay that I dealt is the cause and effect essay. That was one of the useful types of the essay because everybody can learn...

Qualities Of An Argumentative Writer

... I felt a lot more comfortable writing this essay than the first essay; although this was still an analytical paper, it definitely had some argumentative aspects in it. Writing in general is not my strong suit, but I feel that I really improved my sentence flow and my ability to incorporate quote in my essay. One of the parts of my essay that I am particularly happy with is my introductory paragraph. For me, the introductions and conclusions are the hardest parts of an essay; you have to introduce the topic and explain your stance, but you also don’t want to say too much so you won’t end up being repetitive throughout your essay. I feel like my introduction provides just enough information to interest the...

Writing Compoaition

...Experiences as a writer. I have many experiences in writing throughout my twenty five years of life. These experiences were more like stepping stones within my life’s journey. There are three experiences in particular that stand out to me more than any other of the thousands of experiences I have had in a whole. These stepping stones range from my childhood, my time served during deployments, and my time of service in the army. One of my very first distinct experiences in writing started in my childhood. Being born and raised in a Hispanic country it was very challenging to learn the English language. My mother pushed me very hard and taught me English through writing. Thinking in Spanish and writing in English not only helped my writing but also helped me adopt my new language. As years went by my writing matured and I became proficient in the English language. My proficiencies in writing English became detrimental in reference to my childhood studies. My studies as a child were not the typical studies of an average student. I was raised in a Christian curriculum home school setting. My parents used to host bible studies in our home and sometimes my dad would make me write the study for the class he was going to give. That time of my life was very challenging but my dad always pointed me in the right direction. Once I became fluent in writing in English, It became my main source of communication when corresponding to my loved ones from Iraq during my deployment. Never thought...

Procratination

...VMy Writing While Growing Up I grew up in a family of writers. My parents are both writers. My dad was an editor-in-chief at a major internet magazine while I was growing up. While I was a young child, both my parents owned and contributed to a programming magazine. I was always encouraged to write as a child. My parents would always help me edit and change my writings in school. Even my brother has always been a writer. He was always telling stories growing up. When he was in middle school he even wrote a book. Growing up in a supportive family of writers has given me a negative outlook on writing which has made me the writer I am today. Since I can remember, I have always been told I am a good writer yet for some reason I have always fought the writing process. English was one of my worst subjects in high school. Yes, it is my native language, but the reading part is not my problem. Writing the essays was my biggest challenge. Starting an essay has always been the hardest part for me. I was taught to always start at the beginning and finish with the end. Later people told me I could write the beginning last, but I was stubborn. I had to write it first. This hindered me. I would usually wait until the last minute because I did not know where to begin. Procrastinating has always been my fall back when writing. Even now, I am writing this essay on Sunday at 2:30pm the day it’s due. My parents would never push me to write, they would ask the usual parental question of, “Did...

Literacy Narrative: The Book Thief By Markus Zusak

...Writing the literacy narrative was a very interesting experience. Not only did I learn more about how to implement sociological factors and bring in a second lens, but I also got the opportunity to write about a single event in detail. I would say that throughout the course of writing this narrative, I have enjoyed employing the five vivid senses the most. This holds true because I prefer writing in ways that have the capacity to evoke realistic feelings, much like Markus Zusak, the author of The Book Thief. Since this was the first time I have really written a narrative about an event related to reading and/or writing, it was difficult for me to even choose what to write about. Hence, I believe that the biggest challenge that came my way...

More importantly in order to excel at any craft it takes practice and critique to make anyone an established writer. As an economics major and accounting minor, formal papers, essays and exerts are expected of me to write. These types of papers include research working papers that illustrate results based around a thesis. Through my college career I’ve had a lot of experience writing working papers , as well as evaluation papers based off of sample working papers I’ve read and expressed my stance. In this essay I will illustrate what experiences I’ve had in the past with writing and highlight any strengths and weaknesses I’ve experienced in each area. In many of my economic courses a lot of our topics of discussion were based on theory and evidence to support a writer’s research. For instance my instructor Alexander Padilla challenged his classes to read many working papers and write what our thoughts and educated opinions concerning the publications were. A lot of times he challenged our intellect by discussing more controversial subjects which initially were not in my comfort zone but highlighted many social phenomena’s our society faces today. For instance we read an article published...

English Vocabulary Analysis

...Writing an essay is not as much about the end product as it is the journey to get there. You may possess the most expansive vocabulary, but the one variable that shows through your writing is time. Time is the one factor that shows improvement, effort, and persistence. Without time, the journey would not exist. Step one in the journey is throwing ideas on to paper. Throwing refers to the chaos of that first step. In my case, the throwing of ideas was evident in the lack of cohesion and argument. This action of throwing is only able to happen if the topic is of meaning to the writer. The topic I chose, the benefits of immersion programs to help learn a language, is something I am very passionate about. I've been lucky enough to experience it...

English Comp Final

...Final Project- My Writing Portfolio English Comp. 101 Prof. Cody June 27, 2015 I have decided to enter writing assignments 1, 2, and 5 into my writing portfolio as a part of my final project. I chose these three specific essays because each essay relates to me in a unique way regarding my life experiences. I feel that I capture my audience’s attention in such a personal way that they desire to hear more. My personal writing comes from a vantage point about a particular subject in an expressive aim. The content of my writings are equipped for people who are more advanced in life; compared to those who haven’t had experience to support a family, finances, or particular employment. My writings apply to the expressive aim of writing and have comparable lacks. In my future writing processes, I plan to sum up my essays with less redundancy and more content. I learned to touch on the major points of my writings without presenting new information into my conclusions. While reviewing my essays, I realized that I continued to repeat the same errors but made the effort to not double speak when creating my words and thoughts. Given the corrections, I was able to make improvements to my writings so that they will have a continuous, but steady flow avoiding lessening the value of the subject at hand. Throughout the review process of my writing assignment 1, I was able to learn how to conduct APA Style within in my essays. Although my professor gave...
