Despite recent global economic downturns starting from 2008, luxury goods have maintained their popularity as some of the most popular products in the world, while the sales of other goods have fallen significantly. In fact, the sales of luxury goods have increased in many cases. The aim of this paper is to identify the causes to this phenomenon, and go more in-depth into the consumer psychology of buying luxury goods. Recent statistics concerning the modern economy were examined, particularly the sales of luxury goods and their consistency in sales. After, the sales of luxury goods were studied from the perspective of consumer psychology. Luxury goods are not bought for the same reasons that normal or inferior goods are, as they do not adhere to the conventional wisdom of economical decision making. Instead, consumer decision making plays a huge role in the sales of luxury goods, particularly status consumption, and the motivations for status consumption were identified according to different types of motivations. The proposed scheme calculates the relative importance (or weights) of the text blocks to a video by analyzing the distances of the text blocks to the video. This distance, called the layout distance, indicates a degree of relevance of text block to video, and could be estimated by analyzing the layout structure of Web pages. Since the Web pages with several videos such as Web pages posting UCC videos have a special layout structure, this layout analysis helps to precisely estimate the relevance of text block to the video. This weight of text block is used to compute the final weights of keywords extracted from that text block by analyzing their HTML tags and other well-known techniques such as TF/IDF. Some experiments with 1,087 Web pages that have total 2,462 videos show that the precision of the proposed extraction scheme is 17% higher than ImageRover[1]. Based on prior research, the six antecedents of customer satisfaction – ease of use, design, speed, security, information content, and customer support service – are proposed, and the effects of experience on the relationships between these and customer satisfaction are analyzed using a structural multi-group (a high-experience group and a low-experience group) model. The results show that design, speed, security, information content, and customer support service have a significant influence on customer satisfaction in the high-experience group or the low-experience group, but ease of use does not have a significant influence on customer satisfaction in either of the groups.
