...Maksimov Nickolai Linguistic representation of TIME in sportscasts Today popularity of sports is consistently growing. Sport has become one of the spheres of mass culture, it attracts attention of people from all around the globe. With the evolution of television, the internet and every other communication technology it provides more and more people with an opportunity to watch sports of different kinds and to feel themselves involved into action. Moreover, big money is being invested in sports. Sportsmen and sportswomen are becoming popular icons along with musicians, actors and politicians. On the whole we can say that today sport is absolutely ubiquitous and can influence almost each sphere of the social life. There is no surprise that the development of sports industry goes hand in hand with the progress of the events coverage system that allows any person (not necessarily being indulged in sports) to watch, understand and enjoy competitions. In terms of popularizing sports and making it understandable for people the work of sports commentators plays one of the primary roles. It is fair to say, that today sports reportage has shaped as a separate speech genre which requires special attention and has its own specific features and functions. Every speech genre entails the use of certain language and speech means in order to fulfil its functions; sports reportage cannot be counted as an exception. In the presented research work we tried to study the ways of...

This reminded me of my experience during my first placement as a student social worker. I held a program of inviting local Hong Kong students to hang out with children original from Pakistan but were born in Hong Kong. During that program, I failed to mention in the briefing for local students about how to avoid discrimination. Therefore, when a child went into a shop to check out some caps, one of the local students...

...There are many people who think we should get rid of the death penalty. Saving Accountability Full Enforcement (SAFE) is one of them. They think the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment. So is walking into a military facility with an automatic weapon and killing thirteen unarmed civilians, or walking into a Colorado movie theatre and killing twelve people and injuring fifty eight. So, should we get rid of that? Of course we should. But can we? I think it is cruel and unusual for someone to die who did nothing wrong. But in these particular cases, the perpetrators should be put to death immediately! Maybe the death penalty is unconstitutional, but so is mass murder. It’s shocking how in America you can commit such un-humane acts yet still be treated like a human. I don’t believe everyone who commits murder should be put to death, but there are some that should. Although murder is murder and one is not worse than the other all those should not be given the death penalty. It should be reserved mass murderers or terrorist (as we like to call them, although I don’t see the difference). If I know I’m going to die for killing twelve people, maybe I do not go in movie theatre and shoot them. But if I know I’m going to go to a prison and still receive food and water, and my family can come and visit me, it makes it easier to commit such a crime. Not only should these people be put to death, they should be put to death immediately! The families of the Fort Hood...

...Homelessness is like the flu which is easy to spread widely if people do not have the awareness as well as precautionary measures. It is the controversial issue that public is concerned about, and it happens in a lot of cities including Vancouver. Because this phenomenon still increases dramatically in the last few years, people need to know the reasons why the homelessness occurs so that they can solve this problem effectively. Homelessness is caused by addiction, housing crisis, and the personal problems. The most vital factor that affects an individual’s ability to thrive and respond people’s basic needs is the addiction. Baumeister and Nadal (2017) writes that the addiction is a strange phenomenon that people can not control themselves because their consciousness is defeated by the strong desires. In fact, when people get used to using drugs or alcohol regularly, their nervous systems are excited. They can not realize how much they...
