...would be a german shepherd or a golden retriever. Most of the bites would have been related to food or stepping on the dog, but in the last 25 years thing has changed dramatically. He continues on saying, when there was a dog bite not from a pitbull it would usually seen as a warning bite, but when it was a pitbull there was massive wounds and flesh was torn and most of the time it was more than one dog (Billmire). This is showing that this time the pit bulls bites were not just a warning that it was its intention to hurt that person. Instead of them seeing just one bite they would see multiple bites and flesh being ripped off. In conclusion of Billmire’s report, he proceeded with saying, “There are plenty of breeds available that peacefully coexist with human society. There is no need for pit bulls” (Billmire). He is saying that we have so many other dogs that wouldn’t hurt us, so why are we keeping pit bulls around? People think that pitbulls are a illrealivent dog and that we don’t need pitbulls just because they are know as the “bad” dog. Pit bulls are need for many other breeds of dogs if we get rid of pit bull they won't be the only breed to...

...was like my personal, life sized doll. As he grew and because active in sports and my mom had to go to school, sports, and work meetings, he became mine to take care of even more. Sitting at all of the games, cheering, yelling, helping I began to feel like a soccer mom. I loved every second of it. Taking care of him and helping my mom out as much as possible taught me a new appreciation of life. It also gave me many motherly instincts. Balancing a baby on one hip while I cook is a complete piece of cake. Taking care of him made me have to grow up and mature quicker than many other kids. I was already very mature for my age, but go and add taking care of a kid made it ten times worse. I found myself hanging around adults more than kids my own age. Looking back now I would not change one thing about it. I am able to see things from a high, more realistic view on life. Emmett was and still is a crazy kid. He makes sure you are on the edge of your seat at all times. I remember this one time where I went into the bathroom and he was there, butt naked, standing in the toilet. I was so furious at him. He was old enough to know better, but yet here he was in toilet water. I spanked his butt and threw him in the shower as quick as I could. Needless to say, he spent a few minutes in the time out chair after his shower. When our mom came back from a long needed night with friends, I had told her the news. She could not stop laughing. She had to have laughed for a good five minutes. By that...

...such as hearing or seeing. Another good thing to do is consider the different needs of the caregivers and the families. While planning, you should always remember the child’s welfare and safety! Now there are a lot of maintenance and upkeep that needs to be done in a daycare facility. Cleaning is an essential part. Some cleaning should be done daily, some should be done weekly and some monthly. Daily cleaning involves the floors, rugs, bathroom, handles, and tables. The floors and rugs should be vacuumed every day. Tables and counters should be cleaned daily, due to the fact they get used throughout the day. Handles that anyone has touched, should be disinfected. Another thing that I clean daily in my daycare room, is the mats I use for nap time. You should always clean them because you never know who will have them the next day. Maintenance on items should be done as soon as possible, always let your boss know when you find something wrong. Now the cleaning could be done by the staff or by a cleaning company. I do know at my daycare, we clean it. Now when it comes to location and space of a daycare, it is best to follow state regulations while choosing where you would like your facility. Security is important to have at a daycare. When it comes to security, try and have cameras in every room there is for you to be able to watch what is going on in the rooms. At the entrance I would a...

...10. From page 438 on topic of “Positive Psychology” Sleep When we get tired our bodies are almost in a drunken state. Our eyes began to open and shut, our head bobs up and down and we feel as though we can’t go anymore. This is definitely a sign that it’s time to get some rest. Sleep is a way our bodies rejuvenate itself after a long day or night. After reading this section on “Sleep”, I now have a better understanding of what my body goes through. I could never understand why some times when I would take long naps, I would feel more tired than before I went to sleep or why some nights I would wake up in the middle of the night and be super energized. Our bodies go through a cycle of four continuous stages and depending on what stage we are in, when we wake up, may determine how our body feels. I also found out that taking a 20 -30 minute nap or “cat nap” as some may call it, is better than taking a nap for a hour or longer. Waking up in Stage 3 or 4 is your deepest sleep, where your body is at its most relaxed state and the blood has flowed away from the brain and the muscles and immune system began to repair itself. So if you are suddenly awakened, you may feel groggy for a minute until your blood has been recirculated, hence the lightheadedness. I wasn’t too convinced about these sleep theories. I believe that most human beings understand why we need sleep in our daily...

...don't need to drink to have fun." Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they've invented the lighter? Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became all too apparent to me and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase "Regards" again. Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft. There is a great need for sarcasm font. Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the hell was going on when I first saw it. I think everyone has a movie that they love so much; it actually becomes...

...I’ve been bullied for years. It sucks, but I’ve gotten used to it. I’m 5’1 and 130 pounds. It’s like a never-ending circle. Each day I get the rudest comments. “You’re a fat cow!” or “Why do you even bother waking up?” Sometimes I ask myself the same questions. Why do I wake up? I don’t really know the answer though. I wake up, go to school, come home and repeat. I have no friends at all. Even the weird kids hate me. It’s not that I’m mean, because I’m not, I’m just too shy to talk to anyone. I can’t even look at the teacher without thinking they’re judging me. Each day when I walk home I pass a little wishing well. I’ve never wished for anything. I don’t really believe in it. Today I was feeling really down, so why not? I pulled a penny from my pocket. I waited for a few minutes. I didn’t know what to wish for. I finally...

...I sat on the couch, finally able to relax. Ma just fell asleep and lately when she goes to sleep, one of two things happen: She sleeps for hours and hours, sometimes a full day. I love it especially when this happens because not only do i get a fairly long break from the crazy woman that is my mother, when she wakes up, its like shes a different person. Kind, caring, loving, energetic, you know how moms are supposed to be. Or she doesn't actually sleep but is in a state of half consciousness, and any and all little sounds will wake her up and will make her very upset. Just yesterday she went to sleep and came out roughly an hour later, screaming at me, kicking and throwing things around because i had the fan in the living room on and she could...

...transportation. The airplane ride was a grueling 12 hours, but worth it. When we arrived in the bustling airport the view out the floor –to-ceiling windows was beautiful. You could see almost all of the places we were going to go. Exiting the building, we took a cab. It smelled of stale Febreze. The cab driver wore a black cap and had a low voice. He weaved in and out of traffic, and we watched in marvel because of how narrow the streets were and that we were on the opposite side of the street. Our hotel was more or less like an apartment complex. The place had two bedrooms, a living area, and the smallest kitchen I’ve ever seen. The bathroom was luxurious and it took a while to understand the functions of each button on the toilet. After a quick nap we ventured out. First stop we took was to the home of Britain’s King and Queen, Buckingham Palace. There was a large fountain to the side of tall black fence that provided protection to the castle behind. Guards wearing large black furry hats and bright red coats stood still on each side of the entrance. The residence itself was stunning. The architecture was 1800’s-esque with large pillars and many windows. The second place we went was St. Paul’s Cathedral. Like most Christian churches it is laid out in the shape of a cross. As you enter the main part stretches out in front of you under the high, domed ceiling. The floor is tiled in a black and white checkerboard pattern. Within the cathedral are carvings, monuments,...

...Dear sleep, I’m sorry I hated you when I was a kid, but now I can’t get enough of you. Please come back. Sincerely, me. This is just so me and every 4th year students and maybe even you. I have this story of mine that I would like to share. When I was in 2nd year high school, Ale and I were making a project in English – the Pop Up book. Ow, curse that project. We did the project before the day of the deadline. To really finish the book, I stayed at Ale’s house. We didn’t sleep because of that project. That night, we’ve just listened to Papa Jack’s love advices. When the morning comes, we looked haggard. We went to school together. We all looked so wasted up. That day is the day that I’ve been waiting for. Why? Because Divine, Paye, Kate along with the Konta Gapi teachers are going to perform that night. They’re going to perform the Ati Mr .and Ms. El Nido. I’ve always watched them from the start of their practice till the end that’s why I’m so excited. Dismissal. I’ve watched them practice for the last time. When I got home, I’ve told myself that I’m just going to take a nap for 20 minutes. But when I wake up, it’s already past 11 pm. I don’t even know how I end up on my bed. I looked at my phone and I wonder why I have so many text and calls from my friends. And I realized that I’ve missed the night that I’ve been waiting for. That night I cursed T. Jode’s project even the subject. But not the teacher, believe me. This story has something to do with sleep. We all know what...

...Driverless cars – is it safe to take the human out of the loop? From the beginning of the world humans always wanted to make their life easier. They produced more and more complicated tools for hunting, then for harvesting and other branches of human activity – these tools allowed them to make their job without using their bare hands. Time was passing, humanity was evolving newer technologies, people knew more and more about the world and laws that rule it. But one thing that every human-being wanted the most was faster way of travelling. The first step was inviting wheel. Later humans built carts, coaches and many other vehicles propelled with animal’s or person’s strength. But still it was too slow and too less automatic for people. The change came in 1769, when Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot presented his steam vehicle. Then everything started to evolve faster – and we step to nowadays, where we have many different types of cars, even the ones fueled by water or electricity. In our century, where artificial intelligence isn’t a Sci-Fi subject only but also reality, people started to think about using it in car’s safety and driving system’s development. One of the results is Google’s self-driving car, which is travelling in states of Nevada, Florida and California, where autonomous vehicles are already legalized. This technology is evolving all the time and maybe there will come the day where whole world will be able to use such kind of cars. But there comes the question – is it safe...

...I’m walking home from school listening to my music when I see something out of the corner of my eye. I quickly look to my left and I don’t see anything. I write it off as seeing my hair. I walk up the steps of the front porch and pull out my keys. I go to put them into the door lock when I hear my brother and his friends. I turn around and see them come around the bend. I decide to embarrass him in front of his friends. “Hey little brother,” I shout “are your friends going to stay? Because if they are you have chores to do before you can hang out.” I know that they would go hang out somewhere else not wanting to get pulled into work. I was right they told Mendale goodbye and ran off somewhere, most likely to the drugstore or skatepark. He...

...and was also very crowded. In fact it was so crowd Kozol’s fourth grade class did not even have a class room to work in. They had to share the auditorium with another fourth grade class, the school choir, and the kids rehearsing for the Christmas play. Needless to say their environment was not one meant for studying. Later that year Kozol moved to a new fourth grade class. The problem with this class was that they haven’t had a steady teacher since they were in kindergarten. Kozol was their thirteenth teacher that year alone. He realized that their knowledge was not where it was supposed to be, reading at a second grade level, and at a first grade level in math. It really became a noticeable issue after their first test. He really wanted to find a way to spark the children’s interest in school, so he decided to read them his favorite poetry. He noticed that the kids were really drawn to a poem by Langston Huges called Dreams Deferred. When the school became aware of what Kozol was teaching the children, he was immediately fired. When asked why, the school said because some of the poems he was reading were on the “do not teach” list because it was too difficult and went against the curriculum. After some time out of work Kozol was asked to work at a suburban school just outside of Boston. The change he experienced was drastic. He now had twenty one students in a spacious class room, and a principal who really loved her job. After teaching in there for several years, Kozol decided...
