ACKNOWLEDEMENT

I wish to extend my deepest and sincerest gratitude to the following for their invaluable help which this training could not have been completed:
First, to our Almighty God, for His unconditional love and for all the blessing He is showering upon me each day of my life. With love and gratitude, I thank Him for guiding me during my training and for making this On-the-Job Training a possible one. For the provision and wisdom He has bestowed upon me, for keeping me and my love ones always safe, for giving me enough knowledge and ability to perform each task that was assigned to me and for the challenges He has given me that made me stronger than ever. I thank Him for His comfort during the times that I am about to give up. By His grace, I was able to finish this training without any conflict. Most of all, I thank Him for His Word that keeps on reminding me that “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.” (KJV) (Phil. 4:13)
To my dear parents, for their unending love and support, for providing all my needs financially and morally, and for their encouragement at the course of our undertakings.
To the NEECO I employees for their warm welcome to me. To my Training Supervisor for the endeavour to assist me for completion of my training. I am very grateful for having them as part of my On-the-Job Training. For all their advices and for everything that they taught me during my stay with them and most of all, for the memories we’ve shared – the happy moments, the sorrowful ones, the rush hours, the brainstorming and nerve-wracking days and for everything that they did that contributed to my growth as a human being. I thank them so much.
To my friends and co-trainees, for the happiness and for being there to support me and to comfort me whenever I have difficulties during my training. I thank them for the friendship and teamwork and for being my companions whom I can share my laughter and sorrows with.

INTRODUCTION

On the job training or OJT is one method by which students is given a chance to apply the theories and computations that they have learned from the school. It also helps the students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Colleges and universities require their students to undergo such training within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum. For the students, an OJT or internship program provides opportunities to go through the actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipment and documents. In effect, the workplace becomes a development venue for a student trainee to learn more about his chosen field and practice what he has learn from academy. On the other hand, an effective OJT program also benefits the companies who accept trainees. First OJT or intern provides additional manpower for a lesser labor cost than a regular employee. Most of them are all eager to learn the ropes so chances are high that they will cooperate. Employers can use this internship strategy as a method in recruiting new employees. Since the trainer or the supervisor can follow the trainees’ progress, he can gauge based on performance, behaviour and attitude if the trainee will make a good recruit after the completion of his internship.
OJT’s can bring fresh ideas into the organization. Given the opportunity to speak their minds freely and without fear, they may be able to contribute significantly in brainstorming sessions or research and eventually help improve the organizations productivity.

While training the interns, employers are in fact also teaching their employees to process of guiding the trainees stretches their patience, develops teaching skills and makes them more sensitive to the needs and mind set of the younger generation.
The course of supervision also teaches them how to share what they know and be receptive to questions. Hence, the internship also becomes an avenue in training for future managers of the company.
Accommodating on-the-job trainees can truly be beneficial not only to the trainees but also to the companies that provide opportunities for this type of learning. There is wisdom in the front lines.
Such training can be an investment that will be valuable to the company later on. This is also why trainees’ should take their internship seriously as it can become a powerful tool and possibly even source of recommendation when they take that big lift from being students to career professionals.

COMPANY HISTORY AND INFORMATION

HISTORY
It was on October 18, 1973 when Southern Nueva Ecija Electric Cooperative formerly known as (SONEECO) energized ten towns namely Penaranda, General Tinio, Sta. Rosa, Jaen, San Antonio, Gapan and San Isidro. Unofficially that is, Gapan Electric Cooperation, serving then the municipalities of Gapan and San Isidro became the nucleus of the cooperative when the management of the said cooperation was taken over by NEA headed by Engr. Amado T. Corea on October 24, 1973 and the Napocor re-energized the electric system of the two towns namely, Gapan and San Isidro, then it was immediately followed by organization of District Electrification Committees and the Board of directors followed.

On November 24, 1973, after the month long hectic preparation, the incorporation and registration of SONEECO ensued and the historic event was held at the Bulwagang Plaridel, PRRM, San Leonardo Nueva Ecija. The occasion was witnessed by provincial and municipal officials. The incorporators were rev. Msgr. Jesus B. Estonillo, representing San Leonardo, Dr. Tomas Borja, representative of Gapan, Mr. Eduardo G. Esquivel, representing Jaen, Engr. Rodrigo Villanueva, representing San Isidro, Mr. Felipe I. Dayao, Sr. representative of Sta. Rosa, Mr. Isidro Manuel, representing Gen. Tinio, and Mr. Joaquin Padilla, representative of Penaranda.

Then, on January 4, 1974 the official take over the electric system in the eight (8) towns covered by the coop took place. Thereafter, on February 2, 1974, the loan agreement in the amount of P13, 276,000.00 was signed including the officials turnover of the private electric system. All these events took place inside the PRRM compound in San Leonardo. The National Electrification Administrator, Alfredo Juinio, came as the guest speaker.

On September 1, 1975, the electric system of Cabiao was absorbed by the coop. CAROLUS of Quezon followed last march 1, 1976.

Rehabilitation of electric lines commonly known as the installation of backbone system by the EUREKA Engineering firm was affected. The cost on installation reaches the tune of P848, 847.25. The backbone system will mean improve voltage and A-1 reliability. Moreover, we have met the high standards set forth by the National Electrification Administration, the implementing arm of President Ferdinand E. Marcos in rural electrification.

Likewise, we have acquired, earlier a seven (7) hectare lot at Bo. Malapit, San Isidro, Nueva Ecija at cost of P349, 770.00 where the permanent headquarter was erected and blessed on December 18, 1977 with Deputy Administrator Bobby de Ocampo and wife as guest.

NEECO I also set aside as loan of P450, 000.00 to the Nueva Ecija Furniture and industries, Inc. which is now in full operation in Penaranda, Nueva Ecija. NEFUR manufactures assorted quality furniture. The industry somehow eases the unemployment problem in the community.

A local manager was appointed to replace Engr. Correa. He was the late Cesar G. Lamson who died unexpectedly in June 1978. From then, a number of NEA Managers were assigned to manage the cooperative. Engr. Hernando Esguerra took over the management after the death OGM Lamson. Rehabilitation projects and installation of the backbone system to the remotest barangays were affected.

In September, 1981, the area being served by NEECO I was divided and was taken over by NEECO II leaving only five (5) towns to the cooperative. In 1986, the National Power Corporation sent Mr. FloroFresnosa, but the Board of Directors refused to accept him. He stayed at NEECO I for only one month and on the first quarter of 1987, Engr. Esguerra was replaced by another NEA man in the person of Atty. Rodolfo Felicio. Frequent power disconnection by NAPOCOR. In 1988, NEA assigned Johnny Irabon to replace Atty. Rodolfo Felicio. In October, 1989, Mr. Irabon was replced by Mr. EvangelitoEstaca, also from NEA. It was during Mr. Estaca’s term when union problems were resolved resulting to the rehabilitation of the cooperative.

Despite employees protest, on January 20, 1990, Mr. Estaca was recalled and replaced by Engr. Alberto Guiang also from NEA. Simultaneously, Engr. Guiang was also assigned to manage NEECO II. On September 8, 1990. Engr. Patricio dela Pena was assigned as Project Supervisor/Acting General Manager replacing Engr. Guiang. It was also during Engr. Dela Pena’s term when NEA dissolved the Board of directors to give way to Engr. Dela Pena’s management strategies.

On February 1, 1993, NEA decided again to replace Engr. Dela Pena, assigning a CPA in the person of Mr. Efren I. Bati. However, elections were held to form again another set of Board of Directors Mr. Bati’s term resolved several management disputes resulting to coop’s ability to settle part of its overdue amortization to NEA. However, Mr. Bati’s management style resulted to clashes with the Board of Directors and on August 19, 1994, the Board without NEA’S approval decided to replace him with a coop Department Manager in the person of Mr. Danilo F. Tan. This act of the Board caused division among coop employees for Mr. Tan terminated eight (8) employees and appointed employees who were not qualified to replace them. Because of the chaotic condition of the coop, NEA decided to advertise for a local manager to the cooperative and on January 2, 1995, NEA appointed Mr. Gil Salazar as local manager.

Mr. Salazar’s management did not resolved issues resulting from Mr. Tan’s previous appointment. On November 24, 1995, the board assigned Mr. Gregorio T. Velarde, a coop Division Manger to act as Office-in-Charge and at the same time suspending Mr. Gil Salalzar. On December 1995 NEA but a group of coop employees who were also responsible for the ouster of Mr. Bati illegally took-over the management and coop premises of the cooperative on January 28, 1996. The Board, the employees were also divided into two (2) groups supporting two (2) Officers-in-Charge, Engr. Orlando Trinidad and Gregorio Velarde.

For its inability to enter the coop compound, Mr. Velarde’s group temporarily held its office in the town proper of San Isidro. On April 22, 1996, Mr. Velarde’s group was able to take over the coop compound. Losses to coop properties, cash, bank deposit and very morale of coop employees were resulted of all these management problems. Forty (40) employees who supported Engr. Trinidad’s illegal management were dismissed.

It was very slow road to rehabilitation and because the coop is now facing foreclosure by NEA on May 2, 1997, NEA replaced Mr. Velarde by assigning another NEA man in the person of Engr. Jose H. Seguban, Jr. as Project Manager. He is assisted by three (3) major functional activities namely Member Services Department (MSD), Finance Services Department (FSD), and Technical Services Department (TSD). As complement to these major functional activities, six (6) sub-offices in Gapan-A, Gapan-B, San Isidro, Cabiao, Jaen and San Antonio are maintained as extensions of the EC Main Office to serve its member-consumers in the far-flung areas.

The organization has a total work force of 230 as o December 31, 1997. As of the same date there were about 45,046 existing number of consumers. Actual ratio of customer per employee is 275:1 which is 32% higher than the established minimum national average level of at last 170 customers per employee hired. This level is expected as soon as the EC’s operational status improves.

Engr. Seguban was again replaced by Engr. Ferdinand Pamintuan as Actg. General Manager of the cooperative effective February 2, 1999. Who is also a NEA Manager? During his term we had the Consumer Relation and Values Enhancement Seminar on April 27-30 1999, for the employees to develop their personality especially on dealing with member-customer. Some changes occurred the average system loss for en (10) moths is 35.408, and employees’ attitude improved. However, on October 6, 1999, he was recalled and replaced and by Mr. John Catral, a NEA man with finance background.

For his program, Mr. Catral started first a dialogue with local government officials of NEECO I coverage area, with the Congresswoman of 4th District of Nueva Ecija, Julita L. Villareal and NEA Officials on December 28, 1999. To date, the MSD is doing similar dialogue within the Municipal and Barangay levels. Support from the religious sector was also sought by management. The dialogue resulted to the assignment of a MANAGEMENT TASK FORCE from

NEA. On February 1, 2000, the Task Force arrived to assist the operations and support the Acting General Manager, John Catral. The Task Force was composed of Decoroso Padilla as Institutional Assist, Mr. Alexander M. Conde as Financial Assist, and Engr. Faustino A, Betaizar, Engr. Wilfredo C. Bucsit, and Engr. Bienvenido S. Marasigan as Technical Assist.
Mr. Catral’s management style did not adapt well to the cooperative. System loss continued to hamper coop operations even further resulting to power disconnection. Despite support from local government officials, operations did not improved resulting to the recall of the whole team due to starting employees’ unrest.
As a solution, NEA again sent on May 2, 2000 an institutional man who is also concurrently assigned as Project Supervisor of NEA Management Team in Cabanatuan City, Mr. Inocencio M. David, Jr. he has worked herders to NMT and immediately rehabilitated it. Now he initiated programs for NEECO I’s recovery. Employees moved, consumers cooperated, LGU’s supported and within a month, system loss was recovered from 36 to 26% for the month of July, 2000.
On March, 2001, NEA organized a Multi-Sectoral Executive Council (MSEC) composed of representatives from the different Sectors of Society in the coop’s coverage area to assist management in the implementation of NEA’s programs of rehabilitation for NEECO I.

On July 16, 2007, NEA has finally chosen and appointed a new Local General Manager, Mr. Rogelio B. Marzan to manage the affairs of the cooperative, likewise giving three (3) NEA Assists another (1) month before final recall to NEA. However, on February 6, 2009, Mr Marzan filed his irrevocable resignation designating Mr. Orlando S. Tolentino as Officer-in-Charge. The designation was confirmed by the MSEC and NEA as Team Leader of the Management Committee (MANCOM) initially for a period of one (1) month buy was extended until such time that a local general manager is hired. On April 8, 2008, Engr. Bonifacio A. Patiag was appointed by NEA as the coop’s new General Manager.

In totality, since the coop’s founding management was entrusted to SEVENTEEN (17) NEA personnel and three (3) short term local managers and a new general manager effective April 8, 2008.

KNOWLEDGE GAINED AND SKILLS DEVELOPED “Learning by doing”, this is the on-the-job training mainly strives for. This, as well, is the preeminent thing the students have taken advantage of from the company they applied in of which is the Nueva Ecija Electric Cooperative 1, which never failed the students’ belief that there is where they could gain the necessary learning from an OJT.

The NEECO 1 personnel, particularly the manager taught me more than just about the technical skills but furthermore in developing the appropriate attitude in providing service to the clients. The manager has demonstrated some example of ways how to deal with different type of costumer behaviors. The manager, also, shared his inspiring previous experiences in the jobs to serve as guides in taking the students’ path to success in their prospective quests. The technicians of the company are very benevolent in sharing their knowledge and skills to the students. They have that positive belief that accepting OJTs is having a responsibility of molding them into better beings as they came out from the working area.

Examinations were given formally and informally to measure the students skills and knowledge. A good way for them to identify the students doors of improvements and points of appreciations. They allowed the trainees to experience the real life works in a job like assisting clients concerns should it be in the company itself or even outside. Allowing the trainees to interact with the clients is one way of their tests too, which improves the trainees’ confidence.

The company’s personnel have divulged the trainees that the secret to a happy job is maintaining the spirit of family in the working area between the personnel themselves and with the clients. They always share even the simplest fun they discover in the internet if they know it will bring big happiness for every one having something to laugh about. Each of the personnel possesses their naturally different sense of humor which keeps the working area away from getting boring despite the fact of their very little number.

On the other hand, the personnel observe professionalism and respect to each other and to every client, all the time even though they maintain drollness in communicating.

All of these and the learning of the students from the school combined probably made them absolutely maturely different persons that have increased their self-esteems to brace them in taking chances ahead.

An experience within this company is unexpected at first place you will be shy to them cause of attitude, but I didn’t understand why they good to me and why they trust me to do that job. At the end of this training I realized that I can do that why they gave it to me. They were so kind to everyone especially to me, if I compare it with other company or department I say I’m happy with them cause of happiness and comfort to be with them.

I expected in this company is, they gave me a tasked about in encoding, listing, photocopying, computing and balancing some statements. I thank to all of them they gave me a trust to that job or task, and I expected to learn in this company are, I develop myself more in balancing using calculators, fast typing or encoding and good writing and most of all in fields of NEECO I in different departments or areas.

Some minor problems I encountered in this company like wrong/error encoding and computing some bills and balancing of daily collection report and attending of flag ceremony every Monday cause of some late.

I cope within this problem I say sorry for the wrong direction of tasks but they still trust me to do that job and I’m proud to myself that sometimes, the big task gave it to me with trust.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
CONCLUSION
The trainee concluded that having an On the Job Training helped the students to gained more confidence and skills. The said training developed the professional skills of the trainee. It also helped the trainee to prove and apply the theories that they learned from school.
RECOMMENDATION
The company created a good service to their customer/clients and gave the best training for the students. The students must have a good company that would give them a good training program and would enhance their knowledge and capabilities. The school must have a good coordination with some companies that offer an On the Job Training in their company. The school should provide more budgets given to the OJT coordinators to have the best monitoring of their students trainee. They should monitor the impacts of the training to the student trainee. In some cases, having the training during their fourth year of school affect the rhythm of their schooling because the training and some of their subjects complicit each other. It is better for the management/coordinator if they will give the training during summer or if not make sure that the training will not affect the subjects of the students, specially the majors.

...Narrative report for Delivery Room duty. “Life is one precious thing that everyone can cherish. Some might waste it but when they see how our mothers gave all there effort just to bring each and everyone of us in this world, they might be fighting with their conscience.” This is what I learned from this rotation. My life brought me to this life changing experiences. My mommy is the only person I talk about my life, my problems, my achievements, and she fills up the emptiness I felt when I was down. In any instances, she never brought me down. I’m including this to my narrative, because even though she never really did felt the hard thing about “bearing down a child” because she was a post-cesarian section patient for me and my brothers, but she felt the pain in labor which is the hardest of them all as a patient told me. In my duty here in the delivery room made me reflect about the life my mommy, luckily gave me. So I decided not to waste it and cherish all the sacrifices and pain she felt when she was giving birth to me. And when I delivered my first ever baby, I texted my mommy right away saying, “Hey Mommy, I Love You! Thank you for this wonderstrucking life. I’ll be home soon.” Our clinical exposure here at Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center made us stressed, tired but we can tell ourselves that after this rotation. ...IV NARRATIVE REPORT 1. Weekly Narrative Report a. First Week: November 24-28, 2014 “New challenges were started, new experiences were encountered, and new learnings were met—all these things came in the first week of my practice teaching experience.” As I was assigned in Vicente B. Ylagan National High School (VBYNHS), I discovered that practice teaching was a very crucial part of a student-teacher’s life. In the very first day of our practice teaching, 24th day of November 2014, together with my colleagues, daily schedule and subjects were given to us and we were assigned to our cooperating teachers. Based on my schedule’s list, I have a one-hour class period in the morning, from 8:20 to 9:20 for English class and two-hour class from 1:00 to 2:00 and another 3:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon for both MAPEH class. It was a big relief to have my minor subject-MAPEH because there were no computations anyway, but having its four components was not as easy as pie. And, the cooperating teachers that were given to me were Sir Jaypee Jimenez for my English subject and Sir Eleno Bandayrel for my MAPEH. Besides, on that day, we also met the professional teachers on that institution, few new colleagues and students with unfamiliar faces, and my major and minor class-9-Onyx and 9-Jade. Aside from that, we had figured out their classrooms, canteen and offices as well. As the time went on, I took the road of difficulties in each day: travel going to school and going back home...

To identify the main characteristic of grounded theory. 2. ------------------------------------------------- To critically evaluate the methodology of grounded theory. Grounded Theory Grounded theory was developed in 1960’s by two sociologist, (Glaser and Strauss, 1967) one of whom (Strauss) had strong theoretical training in symbolic interaction. One of their earliest studies was grounded theory on dying in hospitals in which the prime controllable variable was characterized as “awareness context”. Definition of Grounded theory Glaser and Strauss(1967) • GT is the discovery of theory from data systematically obtained from social research. • The strategy used in this discovery process is method of constant comparative analysis. • The purpose of GT is to explain the data (concepts) (Strauss and Corbin 1990) • GT is inductively derived from the study of the phenomenon it represents (instead of starting out with a theory and proving it) • Data, analysis and theory are constantly interacting (having a “dialogue” with each other not isolated but are parts of a conversation) • The purpose of using GT method is to develop a theory from the data being examined (theory fits what is seen in the data) Grounded theory is a type of qualitative research...
