In the early 1800’s Slavery was a major practice in the South; but opposition started to grow when one man had the desire to end it. On October 2, 1800, Nathaniel Turner was born into slavery in Southampton County, Virginia; as Nathaniel grew up, he spent most of his time laboring in the fields. In his early years, Nathaniel had a special gift of being able to learn very quickly; he was a very smart kid. Nathaniel had a special gift to where he could describe events that had happened before he was born.
