...論 叢 , 89 期 , 民 國 100 年 6 月 −153− The Dynamics Analysis and Simulation of the Macro Economic Behavior of Taiwan’s Invigorating Economy Consumption Voucher Wen-Chin Wei∗ Abstract Given the severe global economic downturn, countries are using a variety of possible economic policies to try to help their economies recover. This study adopts system dynamics from the dynamic perspective to investigate how Taiwan’s decision to issue time-limited consumption vouchers will influence macro economical behaviors. The simulation led to following primary results. First, in regard to the highest marginal propensity to consume (MPC = 0.3) and the lowest substitution rate of consumption (SR = 0.6741), the distribution of the consumption voucher will generate the biggest multiplier coefficient (0.6830) and Y (GDP). Second, as SR increases by 1%, the multiplier effect decreases by 0.44%. Third, the contribution percentages of consumption vouchers on the first, second, third, and the accumulated total of these three quarters of private consumption in 2009 ranged from 2.13-2.55, 0.25-0.30, 0.19-0.22, and 0.86-1.02 of a percentage, respectively. Meanwhile, the contribution percentage of consumption vouchers in the first, second, third and the accumulated total of these three quarters of GDP in 2009 ranged from 1.36-1.63, 0.15-0.18, 0.11-0.13, and ∗ Assistant Professor, Department of Public Finance & Taxation in National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences, Taiwan, Republic of China...

...Abstract The long-term debt of the United States is increasing to a first time thing and it is at the unmaintainable levels. The longer the United States will wait to put new policies in place, the more deficit reduction will be needed. The United States needs to establish a determined realistic goal and promise as a nation to achieve that certain goal. As my role of a legislature I need to find a way in order to stabilize the public debt to a 60% GDP. In order to come with a solution to stabilize the public debt, I will have to make tough budget choices to maintain an economic development. The budget choices that have to be made are based on the budget path, defense, domestic, social security, healthcare, other spending, revenues, and tax...

...Managing Environmental Issues Simulation SCI/362 Managing Environmental Issues Simulation The relationship between the stakeholders in Week 4’s environmental issues simulation needs to equally considered and environmental justice must be applied to protect the indigenous peoples as well as the environment. The stakeholders must choose the best path forward on the project that will be beneficial to all parties involved and not just produce the most profits. Managing Environmental Issues: Simulation Background The Environmental Issues Simulation assesses the activities of the pharmaceutical company Colney and Pitts as they plan to expand new operations in Kenya that will hopefully assist them in developing drugs to treat prostate cancer. The company is a US firm based in California and will be dealing with the government of Kenya as well as the native Kikuyu people. Colney and Pitts anticipates gathering a rare plant named Pygeum from the tribal lands of the Kikuyu people to study its properties that have been used for generations in treating various medical issues of older tribal males. The simulation states that the company will be investing $250,000 into their research into the viability of using the Pygeum plant in their modern pharmaceutical products. The company projects its earnings from this new drug to be around $220 million a year. As a precaution, the International Center for Ethno Botanical Research will be monitoring the company’s project to protect the...

...Environmental Issues Simulation [Student’s name] [Institution Affiliation] [Due date] Introduction The environmental issues simulation entails the activities of a pharmaceutical company Colney and Pitts based in California. The company is seeking to grow new and innovative operations in Aberdares Mountains of Kenya. It aims at developing prostate cancer treating drugs. An indigenous but rare plant called Pygeum has been used for centuries to treat medical issues of older males by the local Kikuyu tribe. The company has decided to invest $250,000 to research the viability of using this plant in modern pharmaceutical products. The plant can be used to develop drugs that will treat prostate cancer complications. It is highly beneficial with an estimation market size of $220 million annually. The International Center for Ethno Botanical Research (ICER) will be monitoring this project to ensure that this rare plant is not irreversibly damaged. This paper seeks to identify the stake holders involved in the process as well as analyzing their conflicting issues. Budget outline This outline is developed to show how various expenses and interests will be met. The project has been allocated $250,000. Colney and Pitts stand to make a large profit from the project and should support the other parties in their operations. ...Running head: ACHIEVING PROJECT GOALS SIMULATION Achieving project goals simulation Marty Gordon University of Phoenix Project Management MGT/437 Dr.William Dickie May 06, 2010 Achieving project goals simulation The Operation Elephants’ Ark simulation was quite a learning experience. Never being involved in a well designed and orchestrated project such as this before, I found the simulation to be a very instrumental tool in helping to understand the concept and theories behind the project management practice. It helped to realize the thorough and in-depth planning that goes into managing a project, well before the plan goes into action. Perspective of project management Understanding what the main focus of the project is and the expected desired outcome, is very important. A project that is properly staffed not only with enough resources but also appropriate, and knowledgeable resources can ensure the project is well covered. Project Transport eight elephants safely from the Zakinaka National Park, to a special conservation area located in Ungoba. The trip will involve the use of two recovery trucks, four trailer trucks (two at the Zakinaka site and two at the Ungoba site), and one airplane. Resources Hiring a team to operate a helicopter for identifying the eight elephants within the herd. This team will also be armed with tranquilizer guns to bring down the elephants. Hiring veterinarians to administer health assessment...

...be able to be open for business. Without the necessary funds they cannot purchase equipment that may be needed to perform certain test or check for broken bones. Setting up that capital is not an easy thing to accomplish unless you do your homework and choose what is best for your business. I will not only focus on the goals for the clinic, but long term budget goals as well. In health care today there are many organizations that are facing financial hardships. Health care on average revenues $1.5 trillion a year. The tasks are to bridge a working capital shortage, evaluate funding options for acquiring new equipment and evaluating funding options for capital expansion Phase 1 Capital Shortage The cost cutting that was choses was to reduce benefits and to reduce agency staff. By cutting back on how many employees you have will cut back the amount that you pay out in either salaries or by an hourly wage. By making the necessary cuts, I will keep in mind that the quality of patient care will not be affected by the changes. It is hard to pay out payroll when you do not have the funds or if you did not make your budget for the week or the month. By reducing staff it may hurt a little because, there will be longer waits between patients, and the shortage can stress out the other staffs that have to pick up the slack, but it will save you money in the end, by not cutting back on the payroll taxes that you have to cover on that employee. The loan option that was choses...

...PREFACE This simulation is a dynamic business exercise designed for students enrolled in courses that emphasize the importance of developing project management skills. Because the simulation is designed to offer instructors maximum flexibility, we have included scenarios that bring into clear focus project management challenges within a variety of professions, including new product development, process conversion, construction, event planning, and information technology development and implementation. As such, the simulation can be used in academic settings within schools of business, engineering, hospitality management, information and systems, and architecture. The simulation is designed to provide students with real-world experiences in managing the myriad variables that are routinely encountered in project management and decision making. Best and most important, the simulation environment offers students the unique opportunity to practice various components of project management – a hands-on, learning by doing approach that emphasizes active learning. The scenario and rules for the simulation can be learned in a short amount of time: perhaps two or three hours. Among the benefits for instructors are the randomization factors we have included that allow the instructor to customize the simulation each time it is used. These effects are important because they prevent past students from passing along “the key” to successfully winning the simulation. Each time you...

Information on how the vessel will be used and any risks that the project may or may not be financially viable for the company have be identified as a number of Critical Operational Issues (COIs). The COIs are the absolutes required for the project as they detail what is operationally expected of the system. Failure to meet any of the COIs can not be tolerated. Validation of the vessels suitability and effectiveness will occur during OT&E; however, there is a critical requirement for validation of the T&E resources, primarily Modeling and Simulation (M&S) systems, to ensure the results produced can provide sufficient...

...manage a crisis is doing as much planning as practical before a crisis starts in order to best position an institution and individuals who are likely to be directly affected so that they may be able to respond and mitigate crisis situations as such urgent situations arise. The management of a crisis can be done through simulations which help in exposing the students or company individuals to crisis experiences. Simulations as one of the best ways to help students develop critical thinking. Unlike the classroom setting where students learn passively, simulation allows students to think spontaneously and actively. This process helps to gain the critical thinking skills needed in their profession. Students value the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a safe and realistic setting during simulations in order to develop a systematic approach to solving problems. Problem solving can effectively be done in teams and students value the opportunity to develop teamwork skills during a simulation because they would have to work in a team to be able to solve or manage a certain crisis. This reflective essay will highlight on the 4 roles that we played during the simulation process. I will share my personal views and the experience that I had during this process. Scenario Alpha In this scenario, my group had the active role. The scenario stated that professor Alexander was at a dinner party and then he got arrested for being drunk and disorderly during his...

...RESEARCH - ANALYSIS - SOLUTIONS CCPA R e v i e w E c o n o m i c & S o c i a l Tr e n d s September 2012 Income Inequality in Canada: How does Manitoba compare? Can we do better? The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives has been documenting the rise in inequality in Canada since 2006. More recently, the Conference Board of Canada and the OECD have confirmed this trend. These organizations also report that inequality in Canada is now increasing faster than is the case in many other countries. In their highly acclaimed 2009 book The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better, Wilkinson and Pickett showed the impact of inequality on a variety of measures such as levels of crime, teenage pregnancies, life expectancy and educational achievement (to name a few). The study concluded that countries that are most equal do best. If Canada wants to measure up to more equal countries, the growing gap between rich and poor will need to be addressed. The federal government has the most important role to play in redressing the imbalance. CCPA and others have suggested how poverty and inequality can be tackled through improved policies and programs, and better redistribution of wealth through taxes and transfers at the federal level. But provincial governments also have a responsibility. A recent study in Ontario shows that province to be the most unequal. Our analysis looks at the trend in inequality across Canada with a focus on measuring progress in Manitoba...

...Force Management in the British Army As leaders in the United States Army, it is important to understand the capabilities and limitations of our strongest allies. As stated in the Quadrennial Defense Review, “Central to the security of the United States is a strong transatlantic partnership, which is underpinned by the bilateral relationships between the United States and the governments of Europe” (QDR, 2010). As the United States military undergoes sequestration, we will become increasingly more reliant on the support of our strongest allies to deter our enemies and, if necessary, project the international will to our collective enemies. In order to fully understand their system, it is important to understand their current force structure and the radical changes they are making under Army 2020, their current manpower reduction plans, their equipment capability development and material development systems, and the documentation methods. British Military as our Strongest Ally Over the last decade, the British has been our strongest ally in Afghanistan and Iraq. Currently, the United Kingdom is one of only three countries with a brigade deployed to Afghanistan (US, UK, and Germany) (NATO, 2013). They currently have 7900 personnel deployed to Afghanistan which is more than 9% of the coalition total. As Force Managers, it is important for us to have an understanding of the force structure, personnel, and equipping plans of our strongest ally in order to have an appreciation...
