I am a hardworker. Being a hard worker is someone who puts complete effort into a specific task. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always tried my best at school in fear of disappointing my parents. But, now as a more mature individual, my initiative to work hard is more for the reward from self satisfaction. I work hard in order to experience a feeling of relief when …show more content…
To me, sports are a way to relieve stress from my school day and is a way to make friends. However, sports are also a way to experience competition and teamwork that one will encounter in life. I played varsity tennis for two years and this year decided to join the girls varsity golf team. Prior to golf, I’ve always had played lacrosse in the spring and was even going to play college lacrosse but, I realized that sport wasn’t for me. Everyone in my life convinced me that my own future would be playing four years of lacrosse in college. I let everyone in my life make that decision for me. I guess that was because I didn’t understand at the time how much that decision meant. I didn’t realize that college athletes have to devote their lives to their sport and always be under an immense amount of pressure to excel. I wasn’t unsure about myself performing up to task, but more about the emotional aspect of the sport. I felt like the sport overall, didn’t make me happy and caused me to feel stressed due to the pressure to excel in front of other. Waking up early for three hour practices and going to tournaments all throughout the summer made me think, what am I getting out of this? Does this really make me happy? Before I contemplated why I played the sport, I was perfectly content with going along with it because I was told to do so. I was too naive to realize that I was letting others dictate my life decisions. I think a big turning point for me was sophomore year of J.V. lacrosse. I was a team captain then. I personally was ecstatic to start the season being a role model but, as the season progressed it hurt to realize the majority of girls on the team just didn’t care. They didn’t care about if we won or lost; they didn’t care about showing up to practice; they didn’t care to get the assigned equipment. I really tried to be a role model by setting a good example and by trying to be a supportive figure and my determined attitude

National Honor Society Analysis

...In the past year, I have heard about the National Honor Society every so often but not much in depth until I encountered Jocelyn Sosa Ramirez, an independent, selfless girl who has achieved plenty. I am aware that she is the president of NHS and encouraged me to apply. By mentioning the previous information, in my opinion, the purpose of the National Honor Society is to portray leadership skills while serving others and becoming a more successful student. In addition, I feel that the leadership criteria plays a big role. As of the years 2016-2017, I am going to be involved in organizations such as HOSA and RGV LEAD but if I am selected to be in this group, I will make it one of my top priorities to be involved 100% of the time when necessary....

...I Keaton Wilson want to say that is an honor to be considered for induction into the Chester P. Luick Chapter of National Honor Society. I demonstrate leadership qualities by encouraging people to go out for sports and activities they haven’t tried. I try to motivate others to strive to do their best and never give up. I am reliable because if I say I will be somewhere to do something I will. At work I do what I am told when I am told to do it. I strive to do my best whether it be in sports or in school. When in classes that teachers ask for volunteers, I volunteer. In school activities such as sports when someone is down on themselves I try to motivate them or if they made a mistake in a game that affected the team I tell them you're good, get them on the next play....

...I believe that I best exemplify the service pillar of the National Honor Society. Service has always been a fundamental part of who I am as a person, and I have consistently sought out opportunities to give back to my community and make a positive impact on those around me. One example of my commitment to service is my involvement in a local soup kitchen. Every Saturday morning, I volunteer at the soup kitchen to help prepare and serve meals to those in need. I have been doing this for over two years now, and it has been a deeply rewarding experience. I have formed relationships with many of the regulars who come in for a hot meal, and it has been humbling to see the difference that a simple act of kindness can make in someone's day. Through this experience, I have learned the importance of empathy and compassion, and I have developed a deeper appreciation for...

...I believe I would be a very good fit into the National Honors Society because of my attributes that help me excel in the four pillars, Scholarship, Character, Service, and Leadership. Taking pride in schoolwork has allowed me to exceed the requirements for Scholarship. Service is not just a certain number of hours that should be felt as obligatory to reach but something we should strive to go above and beyond. Doing more than just the minimum, unless necessary, is something I strive to do every day. Beyond trying to accumulate sufficient hours, services to society is something to take pride in as it often times helps people with fewer advantages as I might have. The character of a person can often times have an effect on people, and not just...

National Honor Society Leadership Analysis

...Leadership, character, service, and scholarship. Those are the four pillars of the National Honors Society, and as such, they are the basis for Brandon’s own chapter. The National Honors Society looks for each of these traits in its chapter members, and in a way, most applicants reflect most if not all of the four. Leadership is commonly defined as something belonging to managing people, but management and leadership are not the same thing. While someone who merely ordered and kept track would be considered a manager of sorts, they would not be a leader, because though leaders do what was mentioned prior, they go above and beyond that. While I was a part of the MDOT Bridge Competition in my freshman year, I was the “leader” of our team, Stay-On-Top....

...whatever I can to help guide them through it step by step. My grades are my top priority at school because when it comes down to it that is what I will be judged on, not to mention my character. Character is everything. As stated in the dictionary, it is said that character is a “complex of mental and ethical traits“, that those traits, or qualities, are “distinctive to an individual” and that they are “built into an individual’s life.” It is those character qualities, those character traits that determine a person’s response in any given situation. I set goals and put in the time and effort to accomplish them. I believe that NHS does great things overall, and that I can play a part in furthering the impression that is made here. The National Honor Society is known for recognizing students with outstanding grades and commendable characters and I believe that I have both. In conclusion, I hope to be able to use my power to aid in the uplifting of others and prove myself to be a good example and mentor for those who seek help. As I participate in activities where I am the leader, such as a teacher aid, I make sure that I work with my peers and...

I strongly believe that this organization does great things in society, and that I can play a part in furthering its com. They emphasize having a positive effect on the community and creating a positive citizenry for the future. Leadership is a quality that I have attempted to develop, in both school and in extracurricular activities. I have been a part of Girl Scouts for the majority of my life. It has been a community that has provided me with the tools and encouragement to grow as a person and has consistently challenged my abilities. Over the past summer I had the opportunity to go to Camp CEO. This camp focused on giving us guidance when it comes to our future, in college and in careers. ...The National Honor Society, in my opinion, is a great honor nonetheless. Simply having the pleasure of applying with the hope of being able to join is a huge honor. The NHS is something students hear about but don’t quite understand. Most students join simply because their friends are doing it, and don’t want to be left behind, but not me. I have never believed I was meant to be a part of something as much as I am sure I belong in the NHS. The National Honor Society exists in order to separate the kids who are ahead of the rest in their class. Not only is the NHS in place to acknowledge those in front, but also to push those who have the potential make it. ...community, done without compensation and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit. Community service is a very important factor when it comes to bettering your society. Through my own experiences and my years in the National Honor Society I have observed and come to support my beliefs of how important Service is. What I have learned about my community is, to give back to those who give or simply just to do something nice for someone else without being told/paid to do. Community service to me is what I would do to help my peers and community enjoy themselves at the cost of making them as well as my self, feel good that someone went out of their way to make their experience(s) fun and enjoyable. I am pleased to say everyone in this room carries the willingness to make a better community. I have gotten to know a better me in how I act towards different people and what I say to them. To me I think this shows an incredible charisma in how a person can change and make a difference so quickly The value and importance of community service in our society shows greatness within the National Honor Society. Without community service in our society many people would not know the meaning, usefulness, or importance of charity.
