National Honor Society Application Essay
Being nominated to be apart of the prestigious National Honor Society is a great accomplishment in itself. It is proof of my determination and dedication to my future and further education. I believe that being an active participant would further my opportunities to contribute to my school, community, and education. As a sophomore, I may not have been presented as many opportunities as other candidates but I have taken full advantage of as many leadership positions and service projects as possible. As soon as I walked into the halls of Heritage High School I created several goals for myself to accomplish before I graduate. One of the goals with highest priority was being inducted into the National Honor Society, and now this goal is closer than ever.

My parents as well as I, have set very high standards for me around everything I do. I am expected to go above and beyond and push myself to be better everyday. It is in my nature to exceed my own limits and I believe NHS would help me achieve that goal to a whole other extent. Generally speaking, students who take the time and effort to apply for NHS are those who value a higher education and care about their future. With this in mind, I know my future will be dependent on the education I received today. National Honor Society will allow me to pursue opportunities, engage in leadership roles, and further grow my character. As a NHS candidate, and hopeful member, I hold this experience in high regard. As a member should be academically sound, a good leader, and influence peers around them, I feel I fit this description entirely. Not only is this a notable honor, but if I were to be accepted I greatly look forward to developing my leadership skills, moral character, and

...I learned that leadership is not a position of authority, but rather influencing and inspiring others to work together for an easy goal. I have been thankful to receive awards and honors throughout my academic career. To start off, I am a part of the National Honors Society, which is for students with a 4.0 GPA or higher. Being in this program has taught me that when you strive hard to get something, you will be rewarded and noticed. Another achievement I made academically is being the Vice President for HOSA in my career tech class in 2022-2023. HOSA is the Health Occupations Students of America, in which I was able to get verified in Basic Life Support (BLS). This next achievement I have made is both academically and personally achieved. I was honored to be a part of a program called the Youth Leadership Development Program. This program helped me develop leadership skills, patriotism, and faith. I did over 20 service programs and helped raise thousands of dollars...

...National Junior Honor Society Application Essay Scholarship I believe that I have demonstrated scholarship throughout the experience that I have had so far at Carmel Middle School. Every quarter last year and this year, I have earned a 4.0 GPA. Doing my best in school is important to me because learning is a huge part in life and it is the beginning of the path to getting good jobs. If you do not learn then you would never grow and expand your mind. Getting good grades is also important to me because it gives me a sense of accomplishment and it is reflects my hard work. Participation and Leadership I take part in many school and community activities. At school I am a member of multiple clubs such as Next Steps Bible Club, CRU Bible Study, choir, track, and I was a member of the seventh grade volleyball team. Some of the other co-curricular activities that I enjoy participating in outside of school are guitar lessons, babysitting and confirmation through my church. One of the things that I am proud of is when I did the annual lemonade stand day. I was interviewed about the entrepreneurial lessons learned that I had learned from doing lemonade stands, and that interview was put in the paper. Also, in Carmel Dad’s Club Basketball I...

National Honor Society Character Analysis

...Emira Hoxha National Honor Society Sept. 25, 2017 Application Essay The qualities people possess and what they do with those qualities is what makes up someone's character. I have got to be honest, there have been many essays I have had to write where they asked me “Who am I”, but none have made me think as deeply as this one. How do I morally and mentally line up with the world? People have told me that I am reliable, observant, and hard-working, but finding moments where these characteristics were shown were difficult. There was a moment during a very stressful time at my workplace where we had many orders coming in. The organization for said orders was nonexistent. They were all noted down in different places depending on who took what...

A Good Example of Writing Essay

...AN EXAMPLE OF HOW TO WRITE AN ESSAY What is the difference between a low-context culture and a high-context culture? Give an example of a country that is an example of each type, and provide evidence for your answer. ANSWER E. Hall has suggested the concept of high and low context as a way of understanding different cultural orientations. In a low-context culture, messages are explicit; words carry most of the information in communication. In a high-context culture, less information is contained in the verbal part of a message. Much more information resides in the context of communication, including the background, associations, and basic values of the communicators. In general, high-context cultures function with much less legal paperwork than is deemed essential in low-context cultures. Japan, Saudi Arabia, and other high-context cultures place a great deal of emphasis on a person's values and position or place in society. In such cultures, a business loan is more likely to be based on who you are than on formal analysis of pro forma financial documents. In a lowcontext culture such as the United States, Switzerland, or Germany, deals are made with much less information about the character, the back-ground, and the values of the participants. Much more reliance is placed on the words and numbers in the loan application. In a high-context culture, a person's word is his or her bond. There is less need to anticipate contingencies and provide for external legal sanctions because...

...These pages were downloaded from Writing Personal Statements Online, available at https://www.e-education.psu.edu/writingpersonalstatementsonline/ Short Personal Statement by a Geology Student Growing up in Canada with a life-long fascination for Canadian geography, I have always been interested in returning to the country. Although my family moved to the US before I entered high school, I have always kept my eyes turned north, especially in recent years as I began to read journal articles about research conducted on John Evans Glacier, located about 80° N latitude. Graduating next semester with a B.S. in computer science and engineering and a minor in geographic information systems, I am interested in attending the University of Alberta for graduate study. Geographic information systems (GIS) is a field especially suited to investigating spatial patterns, modeling diverse scenarios, and overlaying spatial data. This semester, in my advanced GIS course, Spatial Data Structures and Algorithms, I am part of a team developing a temporal database and program for tracing historical trading data. My computer science skills have also been put to use in two summer internship projects, where I acquired proficiency with using LIDAR (light detection and ranging) technology, now favored by NASA in its current 10-year study of Greenland and changes in the ice cap extent. Through my coursework and project experience, I have also accrued skills...

...would have fashioned their forward-looking communications in a manner that acknowledged the difference between Chinese and Thai culture and approached them from two different standpoints. By segmenting one country from the other they will have the opportunity to facilitate constructive negotiations that are culturally aligned with their intended audience. This would also encourage them to not group all Asian cultures together and repeat mistakes that they have made by using an ethnocentric approach to their prior dealings. Justification for the different approaches can be found in the research conducted by Geert Hofstede. Hofstede, a pioneer in the research of cross-cultural dynamics, developed a system for assessing and differentiating national and group cultures. He delineated these variables into five the following distinct categories Power...

Gender Equality Is Undebatable

...Introduction The concept of gender has become a debatable issue in the contemporary society and an important dimension in the design and analysis of social and economic development policies. These development concerns have brought about gender issues at the forefront of national and international agenda. During the 1990's, the gender issue continued to follow the historical trend by being one of the most popular themes of debates. The Human Development Report, (1995) posits that the number of women is greater than or equal to that of men, in today's society, yet females are still considered as a minority segment of the population. As a measure to redress gender inequalities, approaches by feminist movements, such as Women in Development (WID), were crafted but not much was achieved. Later, it was Women and Development (WAD) and lastly Gender and Development (GAD). It seems deep-rooted gender inequality still exists globally, despite substantial national and international measures that have been taken towards gender equality. This essay deliberates on the assertion that, “Gender equality is debatable: what is undebatable is the attempt to make it universally applicable.” The writer agrees to a greater extent that gender equality is a controversial issue basing on the multiplicity of societies that it is applied to. The fact that there is no universal culture, universal religion or universal ideology makes the whole issue arguable, ence, the need to degenderise gender...

...Running Head: SERVANT LEADERSHIP Servant Leadership BUSI 502 – Servant Leadership Professor Kahlib Fischer Rachel Murray Liberty University October 9, 2010 Abstract In the process of interviewing a servant leader, this paper investigates the defining behavior of servant leadership from a practical and philosophical standpoint. There are practical behavioral characteristics that can be uniformly integrated into the business infrastructure that is founded upon Biblical principles yet not used as a pool to proselytize. Through research and group discussion boards, this paper analyzes the institutional applications and the interpersonal relationships necessary to be an effective servant leader within any level of management and work environment. It is through the process of comparing and contrasting the interviewees’ statements that servant leadership is better understood. Servant Leadership Literature Review History is consumed with pictures and historical facts that have defined the ‘Great Leaders’ of the human race. When one investigates the qualities that have placed men and women into the limelight as heroes who successfully lead people, organizations and nations, there are characteristics and styles that have brought them into a place where many would follow them. However, there have been leaders of gangs, mobs, and cults that have the same characteristics...
