...Debra K. Godfrey National Security Agencies June 1, 2015 BIS/221 University of Phoenix Memorandum To: Mark Bentcover CC: Classmates of BIS/221 From: Debra K. Godfrey Date: 6/1/2015 Re: Surveillance by national security agencies Wiki leak is an organization that deals with journalistic activities involving the publishing of information considered secret with unknown sources. Recently documents came up known as the Snowden documents showing how staff working for wiki leaks have been victims of surveillance by both the United states as well as British national security agencies. This was a very serious document that show how agencies of the government go to the extents of tapping communication channels for those working at wiki leaks together with those who support it. It has been a very crucial aspect that puts into spotlight the ethics surrounding the whole situation. This surveillance is not backed by warrants and this makes it illegal for the agencies to perform such activities. It is a form of violation of privacy and it also violates people’s right to express themselves as well as do their activities at their own privacy. It creates a sense of being watched. Just think when you are under surveillance you are being watched, making it possible for people to get the following information: 1. Name 2. Birthdate 3. Social Security Number 4. Address 5. The council started under President Truman, and the Council’s function is to advise and assist the President on national security and foreign policies. The Council is also the President’s principal arm for coordinating these policies among various government agencies. National Security is based on four basic strategies to preserve security. The defense and deterrence rank first and second, followed by détente diplomacy and disarmament. These four strategies are used whether in combination or alone. Technology has always influenced their strategy. When technology changes, what the country does to protect themselves changes too. This will entail what the U.S. goals are and what we stand for. Third, I will look at how the United States strengthens alliances to defeat global terrorism and work to prevent attacks against our friends and us. ...CONCEPTS OF NATIONAL INCOME The total net value of all goods and services produced within a nation over a specified period of time, representing the sum of wages, profits, rents, interest, and pension payments to residents of the nation. The important concepts of national income are: 1. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) 2. Gross National Product (GNP) 3. Net National Product (NNP) at Market Prices 4. Net National Product (NNP) at Factor Cost or National Income 5. Personal Income 6. Disposable Income Let us explain these concepts of National Income in detail. 1. Gross Domestic Product (GDP): Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the total market value of all final goods and services currently produced within the domestic territory of a country in a year. Four things must be noted regarding this definition. First, it measures the market value of annual output of goods and services currently produced. This implies that GDP is a monetary measure. Secondly, for calculating GDP accurately, all goods and services produced in any given year must be counted only once so as to avoid double counting. So, GDP should include the value of only final goods and services and ignores the transactions involving intermediate goods. Thirdly, GDP includes only currently produced goods and services in a year. Market transactions involving goods produced in the previous periods such as old houses, old cars, factories built earlier are not included in GDP of the current year. Lastly, GDP refers...

...Compulsory National Service Compulsory national service has been a major debate topic for the past few years now. This means mandatory service would be required for all Americans graduating from high school today. There are pros and cons on both sides of the argument that hold weight and make valid points, but after doing the research and viewing both sides I have to agree that the pros outweigh the cons. Compulsory service will get our country back on its feet, and can bring unity to this wonderful country we call home, for that reason we need to act now and require a two year stint of national service. ...HUMAN AND NATIONAL SECURITY: ENMESHING CONCEPTUALIZATION OF SECURITY PARADIGM IN EMERGING SECURITY DYNAMICS Introduction and Background In the realm of international relations and political science, there has been the recurring debate on the human versus national security. Theorists and scholars, like Goucha and Crowley (2008, 57) enrolled into the ethos of realism take the state-oriented view of the security and places the dominance of national security over human security; whereas, those who take the idealistic view of the entire episode take the human security as the primary level of security to be protected by the state (Mathew, 2010, 78). The idea of human security gained eminence in security studies with developments taken place in the aftermath of the post-Cold War era. The Cold War put the security apparatuses and concepts over all other dominant themes of national and pubic life and couched them into strategic and national cultures all over the world. Now as the world is moving into new era of globalization, economic expansion and post-industrial revolution, the focus has also been shifted from national security to other facets of global world like climate change, AIDS/HIV and poverty. In this work, the contrasting debate between national security and human security will be presented in an argumentative style. For this purpose, the concept of human security will be derived from UNHP Report of 1994 whereas the concept of national security will be couched in its classical...
