Introduction

The banking industry in Bangladesh is one characterized by the strict regulations and monitoring from the central governing body, by Bangladesh bank. The chief concern is that currently there are far too many banks for the market to sustain. As a result, the market will only accommodate only those banks that can transpire as the most competitive and profitable ones in the future.

Currently the major financial institutions under the banking system include:

Bangladesh Bank Leasing companies

Commercial banks Finance companies

Islamic banks

Generally, the commercial banks and finance companies provide a copious of banking products or services to provide to the needs of their customers. However, in Bangladeshi banking industry characterized by the tight banking rules and regulations set by Bangladesh bank. All banks and financial institutions are highly governed and controlled under the Banking Companies Act-1993. According to banking act now-a-days all local banks have to maintain a 3% of Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR), 16% of Secondary Liquidity Requirement (SLR). Banking products and financial services seems to be growing day by day because of tuff competition.

About National Credit and Commerce Bank Ltd.

National Credit and Commerce Bank Ltd., popularly known as NCC Bank Ltd. Started banking operations on 17 May 1993 with an authorized capital of Tk 750 million divided into 7.5 million ordinary shares of Tk 100 each and paid up capital of Tk 195 million. The paid up capital was enhanced to Tk 390 million in 2000. NCCBL is the restructured form of the first investment company in the country, the National Credit Limited (NCL), which started business with a paid up capital of Tk 50 million and survived 8 years before its normal operations were suspended.
