Nebuchadnezzar II was known as the strong, aggressive king of the Babylonian people. Nebuchadnezzar is the eldest son of Nabopolassar, but Nebuchadnezzar’s mother has never been identified by the means of any historian. Nebuchadnezzar’s father ruled before him, but when Nabopolassar grew older and felt like the time was right to hand things off to his very capable son, he did. He passed the honor onto Nebuchadnezzar II. Nebuchadnezzar II began to rule in 605 BC, and he continued to improve Babylon by improving military power, temples, ziggurats, and other features along the lines of that until such time as 562 BC. Nebuchadnezzar unfortunately passed away in 562 BC, but the cause is still unclear to many people. Nebuchadnezzar was exceptional

Babylon and the Old Empire

...Research Paper The Babylonian Empire and the Old Testament Submitted to Dr. Curtis Fitzgerald, Ph.D, In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the completion of the course OBST 520 LUO (Summer 2014) Old Testament Orientation II Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary Marcus Banks-Bey_L2444950 June 29, 2014 Thesis Statement This research paper will discuss, and review the history of the Babylion Empire, its rulers, and the Empire’s influential relationship upon some of the major events which developed within Old Testament literature. Introduction Through my research, it is my intent to identify significant points within the history of the Babylion Empire, including its origins, development, expansion, eventual decline, and why it became a focal point of many of the major events of the Old Testament. From the Great Empire of Akkad, Babylon became a major seat of learning, culture, and technology. More than simply a city-state of defiance, and sinful practices, Babylon’s influence, very often viewed through a negative scholarly lens, shaped the history of Asia Minor, Northern Africa, and the world when approached from a biblical standpoint. As such, Babylon remains a critical, powerful nation in relation to its nation-state of Israel, and Old Testament history. Nimrod The Cushite The first nation-state identified within contemporary Biblical literature is the land that is “Ethiopia”, as mentioned...

We will carefully examine each of these problems in hopes of uncovering the truth. There are two major questions to be answered in this paper. Are the historical problems actually problems or just misunderstandings and do these affect the message we received from the book of Daniel? BACKGROUND AND MESSAGE: It is...

Prehistory (meaning "before history", or "before knowledge acquired by investigation", from the Latin word for "before," præ, and historia) is the span of time before recorded history or the invention of writing systems. Prehistory refers to the period of human existence before the availability of those written records with which recorded history begins. More broadly, it can refer to all the time preceding human existence and the invention. The term "prehistory" can refer to the vast span of time since the beginning of the Universe, but more often it refers to the period since life appeared on Earth, or even more specifically to the time since human-like beings appeared.[4][5] In dividing up human prehistory, prehistorians typically use the three-age system, whereas scholars...

The Kingdom of God

...A STUDY ON THE KINGDOM OF GOD A PROJECT SUBMITTED TO DR. JOEL AJAYI IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COURSE OBST 592 OLD TESTAMENT ORIENTATION II BY JAMES D. PERKINS Student ID: 3437129 jdperkins3@liberty.edu LOUISVILLE, KY 5 OCTOBER, 2012 08 Fall 08 Fall Introduction The angel Gabriel visited the Virgin Mary and heralded one of the most debated and controversial eschatological statements in all of Scripture. "With breathtaking brevity, in one vast, glorious, revelation Gabriel succinctly summarized the entire ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ". There was nothing theologically new in the angel's announcement for much of it had been the subject of the Old Testament prophets, yet there is little agreement among scholars regarding its fulfillment. Gabriel, having come from the presence and glory of God (Luke 1:19), no doubt relayed the words of God in precise detail: "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end" (Luke 1:30-33 ESV). These words would have rung with Messianic overtones to any Jewish person living at that time, and Mary probably understood this to mean the inauguration of the anticipated Jewish...

The Story Behind the Palms

...Farm Lessons One Step Poems Prayer USA Historical The Story Behind The Psalms by Dr. Jack Hyles PREFACE There are three books in the Bible from which I read every day—the Psalms, the Proverbs and the book of Acts. I read the Psalms for love, the Proverbs for wisdom and the book of Acts for power. These three things—love, wisdom and power have for years been on the top of my prayer list. One day while meditating on one of the Psalms, I found myself wondering where the author was when he wrote it, what the circumstances were surrounding its writing and what exactly prompted the author to compose such a masterpiece. I fled to the library of my memory and the refuge of my commentaries until my temporary search became long research. This venture was so enjoyable that I traveled the historical path of another Psalm, then another, then another, which soon led to a series of Bible studies at the First Baptist Church of Hammond on the conditions and circumstances surrounding the writing of each of the Psalms. It makes our study richer as we stand beside the author as he writes and as we feel his heartbeat, watch his tears, enjoy his laughter and join in his praise. May the author beg scholastic mercy of the reader. The following words were not penned to be examined by the microscope of the scholar but rather to be enjoyed by the study of the saint. With lovingkindness, a prayerful spirit and a desire to bless, let me lead you into the Psalms, the songbook of Israel...
