In the second part of the Land of Open Graves the author pushes further his promise to personify the US-Mexico borders crossers and makes the reader acquainted with the real people with their real life experiences. Most importantly, he puts emphasis on the specific anthological approach of doing the fieldwork, the method heavily based on personal interviews and their analysis. This approach creates an interesting contrast with a more biological and sociological analysis of necroviolence in the previous part of the book and speaks about the variety of methods that can be utilized during the fieldwork. In the beginning of the chapter, De Leon provided detailed description of his interactions with Memo and Lucho, firstly to make the environment
