Question: A switch is a Layer 2 device and so forwards frames based on the MAC addresses of source and destination devices. Why are we assigning an IP address to a switch?

The IP address 10.1.1.2 and the core router has the IP address 10.1.1.5. Any packets sourced from the switch destined for networks outside the 10.1.1.0 network are sent to the default gateway.

The loopback path

In this lab we learned how to connections to other routers by using the cdp neighbor command. We learned how to put a description on the connections to help identify them. I learned how to setup security on the switch port to allow only 1 connection at a time to telnet into the connection. I feel that the more I continuously work on the lab the commands will look more normal to me. I feel that all of this will benefit me in my career.

In this lab I learned how to setup a terminal history size. I also learned how to telnet into a switch and how to use ctrl>shift>6 and then x to log out of the switch. I learned that if you press enter twice then you can log back into the switch with the asterisk next to it. I was able to learn the show sessions command to see you the sessions that you have last had. I feel that this class will better help me understand networking and how to properly handle a networking role.
