Designing a new network from the ground up requires the input from many stakeholders of the project. Failure to follow a standard requirements analysis model often leads to network architectures and design that are outside of the scope of the project. For example, the resulting network may not be what the users expected, it may not support applications envisioned, and the technology the design is based on may not support certain devices. Failure to communicate during the requirements analysis process can end up with a network designer doing whatever he/she/ or they feel comfortable with. What the resulting product may become is a network based on proprietary technology of a single vendor, making the network difficult to expand or upgrade in the future. In this paper, the requirements analysis sections will be thoroughly discussed as they apply to the network design process, and how following each one to its completion improves the entire process. In addition, the specific tools for determining performance requirements and the importance of stakeholder input will also be addressed.
It is often the case that strict timelines and budgetary concerns result in shortcuts to the requirements analysis process, shortcuts that can become expensive headaches down the road. The process of analyzing requirements is composed of five sections that include gathering and listing requirements, developing service matrices, characterizing behavior, developing requirements, and mapping these requirements (McCabe, 2007). The gathering and listing requirements section is when statements about the intended product and its specifics are made. These statements describe what the product should do and how it should perform, in the case of networks it specifies how the network will function and its intended scope. Gathering requirements can be accomplished in a variety of ways to include

Required Sections for Requirements Analysis The requirements analysis has three major sections that are required. These three sections are: gather and list requirements, develop service metrics, and characterize behavior. These three sections are then analyzed to become two required sections that are develop and map requirements. The first section of the requirements analysis (gather and list requirements) has five sub-sections that make it up. These five sub-sections are: user, application, device, network and other requirements. The user requirements is broken into several different general requirements that need to be covered for the user requirements. According to Axia College Week Three Reading (2015), these general requirements are: timeliness, interactivity, reliability, presentation quality, adaptability...

A single operation that encompasses all areas required of the application would provide a more efficient system, greater accuracy, and better time management by the employees, among other additional benefits for the agency as a whole. In order to comply with Riordan’s request, a thorough investigation into current practices as well as interviews with key stakeholders, as a start, is required. These individuals would have the appropriate knowledge of the current arrangement, as well as the insight of expectations for the proposed new system. ...teams consisting of three or four members. All the members must belong to the same lab group. 1 Expected Work The teams should apply waterfall process model. They are free to use any tool or report format that may be preferred for its being very suitable for the teams specific task. For example teams may add a data flow diagram or even a flowchart to their analysis or design if they think they are necessary to get the job done. “Getting the job done” is however a strict requirement and it is expected from the team as a pay-back of the freedom that they have been granted. You will frequently find the instructors act as customers who even do not know what exactly they should expect from the project, or in general from software or computers. On the other hand the team should be motivated to discover and demonstrate what the project may do for the end users. The teams must perform all kinds of research including moving to the field and performing interviews with the experts and potential users (videos of the interviews with domain experts and potential users must be recorded and submitted in CDs), in the analysis phase of the project. Competition and confidentiality between the teams is encouraged as well as cooperation and participation within the teams. 2 Assessment of Project Your work will be...
