8 December 2014 New Orleans New Orleans, Louisiana was founded, during the eighteenth century, as a city of great culture. Since then, it has incorporated the many cultures of its early settlers. Each year, tourists flock to the city with the wish to experience its diversity. Due to receiving so many tourists, advertisers have to use different forms of imagery to capture specific audiences. In the case of New Orleans, visitors are exposed to various forms of promotion. Along with the use of different imageries, articles also include certain emotional appeals. When combined these imageries and appeals persuade audiences to visit certain places and festivities. For New Orleans, these advertisements are used to promote culture, the arts, and countless festivals. …show more content…
In the case of New Orleans, the images used to symbolize certain events vary greatly. When choosing an audience, it is important to consider their points of view and beliefs. Whether the presenter is trying to persuade one audience or numerous is necessary to consider. Is the advertisement geared towards an audience with traditional beliefs or modern? Is it an academic audience or everyday group of people? In the case of the advertisements below, the audiences differ in many ways. One is directed towards people interested in academics and Mardi Gras’s history. However, the second image is directed towards the modern everyday viewer. It’s been since August 29, 2005, that this city has been without a “true operational” public hospital and that is one year too long. I will include demographics of the area and citizens, a marketing analysis and a sure marketing plan to get this project from a dream to a reality. The boundaries of what is considered obscene or offensive are being tested every day during that three-minute advertising spot in our television programming. Television advertising is more and more crucial for manufacturers to reach their potential buyers and they use their time to grab the audience's attention. Shocking commercials filled with sex or alcohol that target practically any age group are widely used, even if the commercial makes almost no sense. ...What is Teen Dating Violence? Teen Dating Violence (TDV) is described as the physical, emotional, or sexual abuse that occurs within a relationship while dating. TDV can occur in person, or electronically by a current or former partner (CDC, 2014). Many adolescents and adults are unaware of the prevalence of TDV but a recent national study revealed that nearly 10% of adolescents have reported being hit, slapped, or intentionally physically hurt by someone they had claimed to be dating (CDC, 2014). About 20% of adult women who reported experiencing some form of intimate partner violence (IPV) also reported experiencing TDV between the ages of 11-17 (CDC, 2014). Also, black students experience TDV (14%) at a significantly higher rate than their white peers (8.9%) (Rothman, 2013). TDV is a very important issue to address because as teens mature mentally and emotionally, they are heavily influenced by previous relational experiences. If they do not cultivate positive, healthy relationships, TDV can be a dangerous precursor to experiencing IPV as adults. Victims of TDV are more likely to do poorly in school, binge drink, commit suicide, and engage in physical altercations (CDC, 2014). There are several risk factors involved with TDV.
