NFL and St. Jude: 5K Series

ALSAC/St. Jude and the NFL are currently in the process of negotiating and building the tenets of a successful, long-term partnership. To do this one of the key opportunities that they identified was to become the national beneficiary of the NFL's 5K series. These new event series will match well with the NFL's health and wellness efforts used in the league's Play 60, which is aimed at kids. This opportunity for a national charity partnership with St. Jude was well-received by the NFL. However, given the league’s Community Relations philosophy and structure, there are some potentially surmountable challenges to overcome.

To do this there are items you have to consider. You need to consider the NFL not as a league but as NFL Play 60. There are also opportunities to go to any cities in the US not just selected cities. Each player in this event with have specific objectives to reach. For example, NFL Play 60 will need to be expanded by the NFL. Another example is with the competitor group, which they have to create a differentiated 5K series that millwork with all of the NFL teams.

I feel like this will be very profitable with these groups working together. Each group has a established themselves in their industry and everyone knows who they are. St Jude have been up and running for 50 years, and has changed the way children are treated. They look after children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. They do not receive any money for the partners but provide the funds for them. NFL Play 60 is another established group. They like St Jude's look after children. However, they like to focus on children with obesity. They have not been around as long as St Jude's but combined NFL Play 60 will be able to expand and reach more children in need.

With these joined up, I believe that they will be able to make a major impact. This impact will not only be will illnesses now, but also obesity. They will be able to reach out and help other kids in need.

...America’s economy is strongly impacted by the NFL. The National Football League has given countless citizens jobs, including those that play professional football. It also provides amazing leaps socially in society along with the entertainment factor. Even though America’s society thoroughly enjoys watching professional football games, people hardly realize the impacts the National Football League has on the country. When the National Football league was beginning to morph into something huge, there was a great deal of other political, social, and economic situations taking place. Politically during the establishment of the NFL, amendments were being passed and conventions were being held. The president that held office during this time was Grover Cleveland. The Platt Amendment was being passed along with the happening of the Anglo-Boer War in the commencement of the new football league. Another political matter that was taking place was the reelection of President McKinley, nominated by the Republican Party. They used “Prosperity at Home, Prestige Abroad” as a platform, while “the full dinner pail” was their slogan. Socially, the United States was very minute before the NFL. There was not nearly as much gambling or entertainment before football went professional. There were no video games that represented any of the players on the field, nor were there any television channels that broadcasted the games. For the duration of the time that the NFL was created, the United States was economically...

...crowded pizza market Papa John’s has always stressed a higher-end product by touting their ingredients that results in a superior pizza. The company’s strengths include the aforementioned quality ingredients, as well as an internal commitment to their employees by offering industry leading training programs aimed at providing the same consistent service to their customers. They also have an innovative marketing plan that reaches across the United States, specifically targeted for each location where the store has a location. They have also begun partnership with the National Football League and Pepsi to increase their presence during the 2013 football season through in-game promotions and social media activations (Papa John's Tops NFL Alliance With NFL Network 'Thursday Night Football' Campaign , 2013). The biggest strategy advantage Papa John’s has over their competition is the small amount of capital needed to invest in store location. Each space is designed for only carry out orders cutting overhead that may exist in a larger building. The smaller space also allows for an efficient process while making their product. Their weaknesses include a lack of locations to compete with the larger players in the industry. While they have added more menu items in recent years, Papa John’s menu lacks some of the additional offerings available at national pizza companies, as well as local and...

Organizational Structure

...Organizational Structure MGT 230 John Jones James Baliey October 6, 2015 The NFL in its entirety is a very complex organization with each team consisting of its own organizational structure. Each team of the NFL is a franchise, the bought a license from the NFL in order to play under the rules and regulations of the league. Each team then gains the perks of being broadcast through the networks contracted by the NFL. The league is also split into two conferences, each with four different divisions based on region: north, south, east, and west. The two conferences stem from a merger of the NFL and AFL that was announced in 1966. . The Constitution and Bylaws of the NFL, as they are today, were set in place in 1970 after the AFL and NFL merged. However, these rules can be amended each year at an annual meeting with a three-fourths vote from the member clubs, or teams. The highest executive in the NFL is the Commissioner, and has the most power within the league. The Commissioner, currently Roger Goodell, has oversight over the entire league as the principal executive officer. Rather than a board of directors, Goodell has final authority in the way the league functions. The voting requirements and procedures for the selection of or successor to the office of Commissioner are determined by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members, or teams, of the league. The group which casts the vote is known as the Executive Committee consisting of one individual to represent each...

...Should people playing a sport for an hour get paid millions of dollars? NFL players are paid $1.9 million, while military is only paid $80,000 a year. NFL players get paid more than the military; in fact NFL players get paid an astounding amount to simply protect a ball. I believe military should be paid more than NFL players because they protect people and a whole country by putting their lives on the line. To begin with, NFL players are paid millions of dollars because they’re expected to compete, win and be outstanding public figures to people. Also, NFL players get paid with ticket and sales from the merchandise purchases that football fans make. As you can see NFL players make more than the military. Admittedly, NFL players get...

The Objective Excercise

...myself. I’ve set high standards. Standards for which I have always held myself accountable for. My thought process doesn’t allow me to focus on current or past situations, but instead how I will evolve into the Man which I aspire to be. What time is it? 6:00 p.m. on September 4, 2013. Its possibly the best time of the year, football season. The weekends couldn’t get any better than this. A legitimate reason to keep myself indoors. As the sun begins to go down, I start to prep myself for my daily routine as I get ready to head out to the gym, no better way to cap off a long tiring day. Where am I? My home in Miami Gardens, FL, my fortress of solitude. Sitting in front of my TV, catching highlights and newscast from Sports Center and the NFL Network. Anytime now, I should find myself heading out the front door as I get ready to make my way to the gym. What surrounds me? Walls which should have been painted months ago. My high school diploma and my Associates Degree from Miami Dade, a constant reminder that there is still work to be done. I think I somewhat become infatuated and addicted to those things. Right under that, there’s a box of condoms which I keep next to my bed. Somehow, those things have saved me a lot of money and headaches over the years. What are the given circumstances? Well I just started up my own Personal Training Company. The last few months, I’ve been dealing with building the company, while also making time to focus on my Modeling career. Photo-shoots...

Visual Age

...advertisements, being examples of these, are visually satisfying reality altering objects that are finding their way into households across the globe more and more each day via internet and cable television. The reason for this I believe is the diversity of the game developers today. They are targeting audiences of all ages, races, genders, and so much more when they produce and create their games. Electronic Arts is an American game publisher and developer that has perfected over 30 years the art by creating a thriving company basing all of its games off the targeted audience, providing immersing gameplay, as well as the means to get the games out and into the world. This will be my criteria for the 3 game advertisements; Battlefield 3, Madden NFL 25, and Create developed by EA that I will be evaluating. Battlefield 3; a first person shooter produced by Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment also known as “DICE” portrays large scale military firefights and battles, electrifying story mode gameplay, all the while being enhanced by the technological leaps in graphic design. All three of these things can meet the criteria of targeted audiences and the immersing gameplay. Just by watching the very brief launch trailer for the game it is clear that the target audience is young adult males, even more respectfully retired and active duty military. As a former active duty service member, I understand that veterans sometimes feel that rush of adrenaline by firing an M240 Bravo machine gun...

Time Warner and Comcast Merger

...Comcast and Time Warner Merger One of the largest and most controversial proposed mergers in recent history is the acquisition of Time Warner Cable by Comcast. This proposed acquisition was structured through a friendly agreement between Time Warner Cable and Comcast. Comcast, the initiator of this merger, is set to acquire Time Warner Cable’s eleven million managed service subscribers, Time Warner’s other equity holdings in areas such as Sterling Enterprises and DukeNet Communications, along with it’s local programming and news stations. Through this Comcast will acquire all of Time Warner’s 284.9 million outstanding shares for an equity stake in Comcast amounting to 45.2 billion dollars at the current market value (Comcast 1). In order to address competitive market failure concerns associated with the proposed acquisition, Comcast structured a mutual agreement with competing firm Charter Communications under which Comcast will divest 1.4 million existing Time Warner Cable customers to Charter for cash, along with a trade of 1.6 million customers between Charter and Comcast in order to promote and greater enhance the geographic market presence of both firms (Kang 2). ...In connection and individually, how has technology, fantasy sports and social media changed NFL fandom within 10 years? There have been so many advances in technology that the NFL has gained the largest potential through these advances capturing the largest media audience of the biggest three team sports in USA. Technology has helped spread the popularity of the sport by making it possible for the fans to enjoy things such as the NFL draft, fantasy football, and Madden NFL video games. Sky cams, radio transmitters in the helmet’s, and stats analysis online are just some of the few things that are taken for granted. Power of Packaging

...Bobby Lynch Professor LaPointe English Composition I 14 February 2016 New, Again: The Power of Packaging and its Effect on Consumer Expectations The package containing the video game Madden NFL ’16 contains a single striking image on the front and a plethora of words and pictures on the back. The front contains an action shot of wide receiver Odell Beckham Junior making a one-handed grab, set against the backdrop of a full stadium almost drowned out by the bright lights illuminating it. It has the EA Sports logo in almost the dead center, covering part of Beckham’s body, under which the title is printed across the image in shiny silver lettering. The NFL logo appears four times in this one image; twice on patches on the uniform of Odell Beckham, once in the title of the game, and a final time on a holographic sticker stuck to the front of the game. In the top left corner there is a small image advertising a new game mode called Draft Champions. It contains the Draft Champions logo with the words “All-New Fantasy Mode” surrounding it. On the bottom left is the ESRB rating, E for everyone. All of this is within the parameters of the box, which contains green trim and says Xbox One at the top. The back is much busier, with three separate action shots of football players in various positions. The largest image is a cornerback in a celebratory pose, under which it says, “Your Draft. Your Fantasy.” It then goes on to describe the all new Draft Champions mode, highlighting...

The Bad Habit

...Habit The early years of my life consisted of not being very productive. Many of the kids around my age were reading books or even studying for big test during the school year. I, however, was focusing on mastering video games or doing physical activities such as play a pickup game of football or basketball. This is why I sometimes struggle with understanding a book or taking a test. When I was around the age of 10, a new video game came out, making me very excited. All I could think about was how great it would be to have it. The game was a football game called Madden NFL 2006, and not a day went by without me thinking about playing it. My mother was very supportive of me throughout my childhood years and often asked me what I wanted for my birthdays and Christmas. When the question came out, “What would you like for your birthday”, I knew exactly what to say. Without hesitating I told her Madden NFL 2006. Looking back now I should have asked for a more interesting product, such as a dirt bike, but being ridiculous, I choose this game instead. Once I received it, I couldn’t wait to play it, not even the birthday cake or the homemade ice cream my aunt made could stop me. Taking the plastic off of the case was the biggest problem; I mean it was like the producers wanted you to struggle before you experienced the greatness. After I had taken the plastic off, I slipped the game in the system and explored through the many new features of the game. Everything from playing...

Since the early 2000’s the internet has emerged and is becoming integrated with everything we use, as an industry software companies, including EA, have evolved multiplayer gaming into online entities that carry their own experiences past the story line assigned with each game. Nfl Hbs Case Study

...NFL Case Study 1. Discuss the factors that have resulted in the NFL becoming “America’s Game” and the most popular sport in the country? The fundamental reason for NFL becoming “America’s Game” and the most popular sport in the country is because the NFL was able to market the sport as an entertainment business. Leveraging television and the fact that American football was only played in America, the NFL was able to create a “holiday” feel that was unique and that American’s took pride in, as a result paid more attention to the sport. Another contributing factor was to control the quality of the product. Making sure that each team had the resources to perform professionally and one team could not gain absolute advantage was crucial to maintaining a competitive parity. To do this the NFL implemented controlling cost and revenue sharing, in which the lowest earning team could compete with the highest earning team. 2. Explain the dynamics behind the competitive balance in the NFL versus other U.S. based properties as well as other leagues globally. The NFL has two methods of maintaining parity. Amongst the teams, the NFL uses revenue sharing in three ways: “1. National Revenue Sharing: All national revenue was pooled and split evenly between the teams at the end of the year. 2: Gate Revenue Sharing: Visiting team share was pooled and split evenly. Supplemental revenue sharing: focusing on teams’ local income, teams with higher local revenues transferred a significant...
