It’s Your Choice A soccer players needs two main equipment; shin guards and soccer cleats. Soccer cleats come in many different brands and styles. My personal favorite brand of cleats are the Nike mercurial, but there are still a lot of different styles of mercurial cleats. I will be comparing three different types of Nike mercurial cleats, Nike mercurial vapor 9 (IX), Nike mercurial vapor 10 (X), and Nike mercurial superfly. I will be basing my evaluation on the price of the cleat, if it is a low top or high top cleat, light weight or heavy weight, and style of the spikes. AG is specific to newer turf surfaces and the top brands have proven extremely effective in producing excellent traction. Not to be used on FG.
• HG – Hard ground is the ideal option for players who play on dry surfaces, or surfaces where grass has been worn away and the ground is barer. This configuration features a low profile with many conical studs to help keep you balanced. Can also be used effectively on FG surfaces (soccercleats101). This is pretty much based on the filed you will most likely play on. I played on a Firm Ground, so I chose FG as my style of spikes. Any of these types of cleat design can be made to be put onto your set of cleats, the mercurial vapor 9, the mercurial vapor 10, or even the mercurial superfly.
My overall choice of cleat out of the three I have compared would have to be the mercurial vapor 10. The vapor 10 was in my price range of about $150. The vapor 10 weighed the least at 6.4 ounces.
