...Non-Profit Community Book Fair Alberto Torres COMM 215 December 12, 2011 Dr.Patterson Non-Profit Community Book Fair Due to the recent decline of the economy, creative thinking needs to be used in order to fund a non-profit, community book festival for Chicago, Illinois. According to CNN Health, (2010), about 21 percent of children in the United States will be living below the poverty line in 2010 because of job losses, through declines in real income and other aspects of family economic well-being. These decreasing family economic indicators will likely impact children's abilities in reading and math, and the deterioration which will likely impact their future. Chicago, with a population of nearly three million people, would be an ideal local to hold a non-profit, community book festival, City of Chicago (2010), Creative thinking, therefore, will become increasingly important to provide reading material for those who would otherwise go without. This could be accomplished through several means including a literacy children's fair, incorporating large and small businesses, and engaging diverse cultures in the Chicago area. Chicago is the third largest city in the United States, after New York City and Los Angeles, with an official population of 2,896,016, as of the 2000 US Census. Chicago has been a center for commerce in the United States for most of its modern history. Today Chicago is considered to be a Prime Accountancy, Advertising and Legal Service Centers...

...How to Fund a Non-Profit Community Book Festival Glennie Hillebrandt, Aaron Hutchison, Star Prerez COMM/215 April 13, 2015 Gary Tandy How to Fund a Non-Profit Community Book Festival We are looking to fund our Non-Profit Community Book Festival, The San Diego Community Book Festival. We have filed our paperwork and incorporated the name, and registered as a non-profit. We have applied for the non-profit federal and state exemptions, created our corporate bylaws and appointed our initial directors. Our first board meeting was held and all necessary licenses and permits have been obtained. With the completion of these, we need to take the next step and the most crucial one which is fundraising. When it comes to fund raising, individual donors contribute the largest amount. There is also available funding through grants offered by federal, state and local government. (cite source SBA) The catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) provides a database of all federal programs available to state and local government (cite sources gsa.gov). Upon trying to find funders you need to look to many different resources and not focus on just one. Treating a funder like you would any type of business prospect is key, keep things professional. (Foundation center) The foundation center is not a resource to supply funds, but there to help you in research providing information on how to receive grants and other resources to fund your non-profit. When trying to get funding make sure...

...------------------------------------------------- Background and personal life[edit] Nick Vujicic was born to Duška and Boris Vujicic in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia.[2] Although he was an otherwise healthy baby, Nick was born without arms and legs; he had no legs, but two small feet, one of which had two toes. Vujicic has two siblings, Michelle and Aaron.[3] Initially, a Victorian state law prevented Vujicic from attending a mainstream school due to his physical disability in spite of a lack of mental impairment. However, Vujicic became one of the first physically disabled students integrated into a mainstream school once those laws changed.[4]But soon enough, his lack of limbs made him a target for the school bullies and he fell into a severe depression. Following this depression, at the age of eight, he contemplated suicide and even tried to drown himself in his bathtub at the age of ten. From then after the love for his parents prevented him from following through.[5] He also states in his music video "Something More" that God had a plan for his life and he could not bring himself to drown because of this.[6] Vujicic prayed that God would give him arms and legs and initially told God that, if his prayer remained unanswered, he would stop praising him indefinitely. However, a key turning point in his faith came around when his mother showed him a newspaper article about a man dealing with a severe disability. Vujicic realized he was not unique in his struggles and began...

...THE STRATEGY LENSES 21 The four lenses are introduced more fully immediately after this chapter and will provide the framework for separate commentaries on each of the three parts of this book. This section introduces them briefly as follows: ● Strategy as design. This takes the view that strategy development can be ‘designed’ in the abstract, as an architect might design a building using pens, rulers and paper. The architect designs, and then hands over the plans for the builders actually to build. This design lens on strategy encourages a large investment in planning and analysis before making final decisions. It tends to exclude improvisation in strategy development and underplay the unpredictable, conservative or political aspects of human organisations. Taking a design lens to a strategic problem means being systematic, analytical and logical. Strategy as experience. The experience lens recognises that the future strategy of an organisation is often heavily influenced by its experience and that of its managers. Here strategies are seen as driven not so much by clear-cut analysis as by the taken-for-granted assumptions and ways of doing things embedded in people’s personal experience and the organisational culture. Strategy is likely to build on and continue what has gone on before. Insofar as different views and expectations within the organisation exist, they will be resolved not through rational optimisation, as in the design lens, but through messy compromises and...

...Russian folklore fairy tales," -Sergei Merinov , a Russian catoonist. American animation began in the 1920s because of it potential to make profits at a time when cinema idustry was in really hight level and it was golden age of it. As it is not surprisingly Disney soon became one of the most successful animators, largely due to its merger of art with bussiness and profit(David MacFadyen, Yellow Crocodiles and Blue Oranges ). The Disney became popular and now because it aim to capture the spirit and innocence of childhood. It displayed characters running aroud, playing through colorful frames with musical accompaniment.
