I believe that severs should be paid non- tipped wages. Many servers who rely on tips as a source of income while being on the tipped wages may barely get by if the are not tipped properly. They would also be lessed stressed and they could work with a clear head instead of worrying about what there tips would be like for the day. Severs work hard to provide excellent coustomer service and should be granted the non-tip wages.

Servers rely on their tips for their everyday expenses. Some people who eat out dont tip above 15%. This puts a strain on the sever and their home life. If the server was making non- tipped wages then that would benefit them and better help them out with their everyday expenses. Inflation has driven up cost of living by 75% over the past 24 years. Even if you provide them with superior service it mearly increases the tip by 1.5 % a reseacher at Cornell University had found. Severs can still give excellent customer service and still be tipped poorly.

Although some people fear that having the non- tipped wages will ruin restaurant business, One journalist reported that it increased the resturant sales and had a higher employment growth in the seven states that have thrown out the tipped minimum wage.

As a former server I can tell you that there were days that I might of made 10$ in a day. At that time i was getting paid 2.14$ an hr plus tips and that was supposed to put me at minimum wage. I rarely saw me meeting minimum wage when I was serving and i worked really hard at tending to my customers needs. Having the tipped minimum wage thrown out and having the servers be on a non- tipped wage is something I wished they would have done along time ago. It would of put less stress on me knowing I was getting that extra income plus the tips I had

Also, the tipped minimum wage (the minimum wage paid to workers who earn a portion of their wages in tips) would be increased in $0.85 increments from its current value of $2.13 per hour, where it has languished since 1991, until it reaches 70 percent of the regular minimum wage (Cooper, Hall 2013).
