Christus’ work can be identified as Northern Renaissance because of many of its different elements. The figures in this painting look unreal because of their unrealistically proportioned bodies, especially the unusual size of their elongated heads. There is also a very unrealistic sense of space in this picture, as everything seems really cramped. The artists during the Northern Renaissance also paid meticulous attention to detail. This can be seen in the woman’s headpiece and the amount of detail put into its pattern. It can also be seen in the mirror by the man in the red’s right arm. The attention can also be seen in the different items in the background and how the artist used value shift and methods such as that to create a sense of realism
