Life is more important than choice. The air in your lungs and the heart beat in your chest is purpose. Believe it or not, your heart has been beating since the days in your mother’s womb. After about 5 weeks of pregnancy, things substantial to life such as the heart, brain and spinal cord are already developing. Our mother’s went through about 40 weeks of pregnancy and most likely went through hell during labor to get us here. What if she chose the route of abortion? We wouldn't be here to know; however, we wouldn't be here to live either. What if the life we have been able to live thus far never existed? it’s hard to imagine. Think about all of the opportunities we are given in life just because we are here. We can be successful, find love, make friends and one day make families of our own. Everything is an option, so why is it necessary to take those options away from an unborn child? it’s not. Our mother’s thankfully decided to bring us into the world. Children are the light of the world, and not something to throw away. Children are the essence of purity. They exude innocence and bring a sense of new beginning to the world. I know this first hand because of my sweet brother Jaxon. Right before his birth my family and I lost my sister and hope seemed lost. Truthfully, the excitement was not there for his birth because we were in the mist of grieving a death. Once Jaxon entered the world, joy became possible again. He replaced a devastating loss with a beautiful new life to focus on. The importance and privilege of life became clear like never before; however, others feel differently. While life should be the only option, some are pro-choice. They believe every woman's body is her own and the choice should be her’s to make. They want complete control of their body; however, this control should include preventing unwanted pregnancies first and foremost.

Trash

...May 30, 2012 Trash Why are there so many landfills in America? It is because the amount of trash that the people put out is too high. All of this trash that we put out is adding up into our landfills, end up being burned, or even flow out into our oceans. Since most things that you put out into our trash are not biodegradable, these landfills will continue to grow and grow over time. Such things will have a negative impact on the environment. Though you can’t see the impact of it now, it’s going to hit us like a ton of bricks in the future. We can help avoid this fate by simply eating less food, recycling more and to use more biodegradable packaging. There are many ways that we can reduce the amount of trash we produce as people. One main way is to eat less food. In this day and age not much food is sold without some sort of paper or plastic packaging covering the item. If you just lower the amount of food we eat we can drastically lower the amount of trash produced as a whole and lower our weight leading to healthier life styles. Based on values in 2001 the USA produced 409,029,000 tons of trash. In the same year there was a population of 286,345,000. This equates to roughly 1.43 tons per person, that’s 2860 pounds of trash per person. Now how to distinguish between trash from people vs. the trash produced by factories and other large companies is hard. Of these 409,029,000 tons of trash only 32 percent was recycled, leaving behind 278,139,720 tons of trash. In one year if...

...Abstract This essay will cover the history of Municipal solid waste (MSW) as well as how their facilities have changed due to environmental reforms. Various types of waste facilities will be defined along with what has been changed to help keep the environment and population safe from the hazardous chemicals. Lastly, one facility will be explored and their preventative measures will be explored.   Municipal Solid Waste Solid waste is a persistent, part of our lives, yet it goes unnoticed. Today, many countries are facing an approaching crisis in the management of solid waste as many waste disposal sites are nearing their capacity and the contents are continually degrading the environment. However, new and advanced solid waste management systems can help to reduce solid waste disposal, and subsequently minimize environmental and health impacts. Unlike decades before, new legislation has been proposed, and highly regulated to ensure better management of waste. Most widely referred to as nuisances, open dump sites can be found on both private and public property; sides of the road, ditches, river/creek beds, secluded forest/woods, back yards, and empty lots. (Illinois EPA, 2011). All of these hazards can cause detrimental harm to plant and wildlife habitats as well as significantly reduce the quality of life in the nearby communities. (Illinois EPA, 2011), (Hamilton County Public Health, 2007) The early landfills were heavily associated with environmental problems. When...

...engage in trash talking their opponents in order to gain a psychological advantage. The players do not always know the negative effects that trash talking can lead to. In the local 16 and up recreational softball league, there is a team that does a lot of trash talking. The end of the season meeting is coming up, and one of the coaches is debating if he should take action in trying to end the trash talking. I believe that a policy should go into effect with penalties and rules for teams to follow in order to provide fans with a healthy game atmosphere. Trash talking has become very common in many sporting events. Players tend to act as if they can say whatever they want to, whether it is on the field or on the court. Just because it is a game, does not make it right to do so. Trash talking may seem innocent to the person saying it, but it can actually greatly hurt the one it is being directed towards. All players are not able to ignore trash talking as well as others might be. This can especially be the case if an individual is new to sports or not used to being around trash talk. Trash talking can do more damage than just mess up a player’s performance. Trash talking can hurt a person both mentally and physically. A person who is used to having trash talking statements directed at them could start to lose a great amount of confidence they once had. With this pattern developing, many players could lose hope and desire for sports that they once loved. If trash talking...

Short Story - the Trash

...The Trash He looked out of the dirty window, which was covered with fingerprints and dead insects all over. He was sweating in the torn shirt he had put on this morning, before his long journey back to Denmark. He was already excited about his next lunch, rye bread with liver pâté and beetroot, just the way he liked it, just the way he knew it. It reminded him, that he had to go to the grocery before they closed. He had sold his house to fulfill the dream of his life; to become a tour-guide in Africa together with his best friend. His friend, Lasse Henriksen, left back home the week before, when he received a call from his mother, telling him that his dad was found shot on Nørrebrø. Lasse’s dad was a cop, recently celebrating his 30-year anniversary on the force. Lasse had to make it to the funeral, and support his family during the hard time. He hadn’t heard from Lasse since. He had tried reaching him on his cell, but with no luck. Wednesday d. 16th of April 15.09 o’clock Smallville Sigurd was pulled out of his thoughts, when the bus driver announced the final stop threw the speakers of the bus. Sigurd dragged his luggage out of the backdoor of the bus, and the bus went on along the empty and quiet road. He inhaled the fresh air, and felt his stomach sizzling of joy. He finally had reached his destination after a long journey. He had rented a weekend cottage in the edge of the small town of Smallville in the Northern part of Sjælland. He found the description of...

The effects of not recycling are proven to be harmful. Excessive amounts of garbage developing in landfills and the smell can be toxic, sometimes even deadly. Polluting in the water leaving people with nothing to drink. Dwindling resources that may soon disappear and skyrocket prices. Not only lack of education but also unplanned urbanization trigger this problem. Ankara which is a large city can be given an example for this problem. When the population of this city increases, the trash problem in that environment will cause many people, animals and the nature to be damagedin the way of health. Trash problem in Ankara become a highly controversial topic between the officials of government and many proffessionals in Turkey. While the officials of government argue that there is not a trash problem in Ankara, the proffesionals and experts support that this problem has been remaining in nowadays in Ankara. Trash which is a global problem has been increasing minacously in Ankara day by day because of lack of awareness and unplanned urbanization. The main reason of trash problem in Ankara is lack of awareness. In today's world, education is not a measurement to specify people who learn what is the good or bad thing. Especially university students who are known as a well-educated people have negative effects in this problem. For example, the picture above is belonged to Ted University's students. This picture is a scene which describes how much well-educated students give importance their area and how these people show an approach to this problem. Therefore, it is not related to university or school, this is related to lack of awareness between...

Interstate Shipment of Trash

...Landfills have a unique history since their extensive use began after World War II to concentrate municipal solid waste. They have transformed from simple piles of hazardous, unsanitary trash into reliable, engineered foundations. Even as the annual rate of trash landfilled per capita rises, the amount of landfills has decreased dramatically from twenty thousand in the 1970’s to the remaining two thousand eight hundred today. This is due to the benefit of the interstate shipment of trash in environmental, ethical and economic perspectives. Subtitle D of the Resource and Conservation and Recovery Act requires strict environmental protections. These strict laws lead to the replacement of small landfills with expensive, regional mega landfills that can generate enough trash to afford the technology required to conform to the law. The new privately owned landfills therefore, lead to the interstate shipment of trash since landfills across state borders are more accessible for a city than an inner state landfill. This increase of mega landfills is environmentally beneficial since there are fewer landfills, making it easier to regulate under the more strict laws. New landfills also benefit the environment by converting emitted methane to electricity, compressing more trash into the same volume as old landfills, decreasing ocean dumping and reducing urban areas use of incineration. These engineered landfills also provide sloped cells that allow for a controlled collection of...

Other illegal fields where the mafia is present are the drugs and prostitution rackets. But the Mafia and especially the Camorra act also on many legal sectors of our economy and politic. Many labor unions are fluttered with “Camorristi” which take control of various building and road constructions all over the country trying to make as much profit as possible. From the beginnings of the 90’s the Camorra also took control of the industrial waste in Naples. They started to decide where and how to collect the trash and where to built the landfills. All of this under the eyes of the Italian politicians and the world. In 2008 a huge environmental crisis exploded based on this issue. Roads all over the city were floated with trash and cars could barely access the center of the...

Andy Mulligan Trash Quotes

...In Andy Mulligan's novel, Trash, the main character is determined to shape his own destiny. The main characters in this book are, Gardo, Raphael, Rat and Jose Angelico. “They must have…...they killed him.”This quote occurred in the book when Jose Angelico chose not to tell the police where the money he stole was hidden. This quote proves my thesis because when Jose angelico did this, he had 2 choices, to tell the police where the money was or to get killed and not tell anyone where the money he hid was. Jose Angelico’s decision of not telling the police where the money he hid was, got him killed. If Jose Angelico told the police where the money was, he probably would have gotten a less harsh punishment. Another quote in this book is “ how can….. in the bag.” (page...

Mirror Traffic

...http://altohio.com/mirror-traffic Mirror Traffic, the fifth release from Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks is the glorious distillation of the S.M. oeuvre. Produced by Beck Hanson, the album maintains the lanky looseness of former Jicks-backed offerings even as its songs are condensed down to their respective essences—several tracks clock in at less than three minutes, a stark contrast to previous records where 10-minute guitar odysseys were becoming common. Much like Bob Dylan’s twenty-first century output, Mirror Traffic digs through the past to repurpose musical styles, from psychedelic LA country to first-wave British punk, twisting them into new but familiar shapes. Beck’s role as producer seems split between tightening up the performances and curating the palette of stylistic overlays drawn from the Rock History vault. On “Long Hard Book,” reverb-soaked slide guitar evoke desert midnight, while the chorus’s pedal steel pairs with Joanna Bolme’s spot-on Emmy Lou Harris impression to create an afterimage of some long-lost Grievous Angel outtake, until a fuzzed-out guitar outro pulls the listener back into unmistakably Malkmusian territory. “Tune Grief” is the song the Buzzcocks might’ve recorded if they’d grown up in southern California, a short punchy track complete with single-note guitar solo and beach-bright backing vocals. All of Mirror Traffic’s influences have surfaced in Malkmus’ previous work, from Watery, Domestic onward, but here, arguably benefitting from its...

Metal was the second common form of debris found, aluminum cans, steel, and tin cans were found. Other things were found as well that include rope, fishing equipment, glass bottles, paper, and cloth. Trash Island Research Paper

...If you don't already know, Trash Islands are just big or small islands of trash on the water. Trash Island sizes vary, for example, (Ocean Cleanup. “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch.” The Ocean Cleanup, Greenhouse, 2018, ) says there is a Trash Island in the Pacific Ocean that is three times the size of France. They are usually very large and they stay together because all of the garbage goes to the ocean's current and it gets clumped up, this is why all of the Trash Islands are very large. Trash Islands pollute the water just like water bottles pollute that water. On water bottles you can see an expiration date, that is not because the water itself gets bad it is because the water bottle becomes old and the chemicals and oil comes out of...
