Menneskets behov for fortællinger Fortællinger er som et stykke kunst, der i mange år har eksisteret i form af mundtlighed, såvel som skriftlighed. Men det at skulle læse og kunne fortolke et værk, falder ikke alle lige naturligt, mange mennesker mener, det at skulle sætte sig ned og indleve sig i 150 siders tekst, er spild af tid, mens det for andre bruges som afslapning og et break fra den virkelige verden. Men selvom vi alle har forskellige holdninger, til det at skulle sidde ned og fortolke en hel bog, hvordan ville det så se ud, hvis vi alle besluttede os for at læse den samme bog, ville vi kunne få den samme forståelse? Derudover ville det så være muligt for det enkelte individ, at identificere sig selv med bogens personer samt dens handling?

Se det er et stort spørgsmål, som jeg tvivler på de færreste kan svare på, men hvorfor er det sådan? Mit bud lyder på, at det skyldes, at vi som enkelte individer har forskellige måder at opfatte verden samt livet på, da vi alle ligger inde med forskellige interesser, uddannelser såvel som livserfaringer. Det siges at en fortælling kun kan leve i det omfang den bliver læst og opfattet på. Mange læsere føler en stor trang til, at investere deres følelser og drømme i en bogs handling, i håb om at de sidst i fortolknings processen kan identificere sig med hovedpersonen samt fortællingens handling.

Mathilde Walther Clark er forfatteren bag teksten Genkendelsen ligger i marven, ifølge hende så er læsning noget personligt og tilhører kun det enkelte individ, men ikke nok med det, så er læsning også en oplevelse for mange læsere. Flere læsere har oplevet og oplever stadig, at kunne sidde tilbage efter at have læst en bog og sige, hold da op hvor minder jeg om hovedpersonen, eller det andet scenarie kan være at man læser bogen i håb om at finde noget glæde i ens eget liv, når man tydeligvis godt ved, at man selv går og altid har drømt om det liv der udspiller sig i bogens handling.

Men hvad er det der gør, at mange vælger at blive så fascinerende af en fortælling?

Hvad er det der gør det så spændende, og ikke mindst lærerigt, fordi ifølge mig selv så kan jeg ikke se nogen mening i at skulle læse en bog OVERHOVEDET, da jeg bare ikke føler for at skulle bruge min tid på at læse og fortolke og ikke mindst indlevede mig i en fortælling, hvor hele oplevelsen hurtigt forsvinder væk, efter bogen er lagt tilbage på hylden.

”Jeg tror meget på fortællingen, på det behov for at fortælle og for at høre andres fortællinger”

Det siges at man lærer noget nyt hverdag, også selvom det omhandler at man skal sidde og lytte til andre, så er det stadig noget man ikke skal tage for givet, fordi man lærer meget af, at lytte til andre, da man oftest lærer at få en anden forståelse for deres tankegang og hvorfor de netop tænker og handler som de nu gør.

”Vores drømme er vores personlige myter. Når vi bliver ved med at fortælle hinanden f.eks. H.C Andersens eventyr, eller Karen Blixens fantastiske fortællinger, så tror jeg, det er fordi de ligner vores drømme. De går dybt ”

Ifølge Mathilde Walther Clark så er vores drømme i realiteten en bunke personlige myter, men hvad mener hun egentlig med det? Skal det betyde, at de drømme vi går med er så fascinerende og uvirkelige, at vi ikke kan gøre andet end at lade dem være en myte? Fordi i dagligsproget så er vi bekendt med ordet myte, som værende en betegnelse for en kollektiv illusion, altså noget som vi alle går og drømmer om, men som vi i virkeligheden ikke kan opnå. Betyder det så at alle dem der har de uopnåelig drømme, er dem der har lettest ved at se og finde den dybere mening i en fortælling? Eller det bare en myte.

Lear fails to maintain order in his kingdom and his family; Gloucester loses his sight; and Cordelia, the only one who really loves her father, dies.
