1. The various contaminated areas in school according to the acquired class data was the front door entrance handles and the biology classroom doorknob. In the individual experiment conducted revolving the four locations in table 2 the front door handles contained a greater amount of bacteria than the AC vents and the office water dispenser. The least contaminated areas according to the class data was the cafeteria microwaves and after further observation a question was made, could the constant use of high heat or the microwave radiation have killed the bacteria or is there a possibility that the microwave could have been cleaned beforehand which resulted in the fact that it is the cleanest area for now before it is used and contaminated, compared to the science glass beaker that had been each day but had remained in a storage container for a long period of time and had produced more bacterial growth than the microwave. …show more content…
The general location of microorganisms in the school are in areas where a lot of students come in contact with and the building itself such as staircases, windows and hallway floor corners. Areas, where students and teachers come in contact with each day like the front door handles, contains a lot of microorganisms because they are one of the most common harbourers for harmful germs and bacteria, causing infections to spread such as E.coli, Staphylococcus, plus fungal and viral infections.

3. Bacterial colonies were observed during the lab but no fungal colonies were observed. Bacterial colonies appear as small creamy dots on the agar surface. While Fungal colonies appear as molds on the agar surface. Also, bacterial colonies are visible masses of bacterial cells arising from single bacterial cells while fungal colonies are visible masses of fungi arising from a single spore or mycelial
