One major benefit of using scratch tool for Primary Computing is that it allows learners to build real world essential skills such as problem solving, logic and systematic thinking as well as being creative thinkers (Waterworth, 2014). At first scratch can seem a little confusing but with practice and understanding of the different functions of the blocks children can become more confident with the programme. Waterworth provides us with an example of how at first when creating a scratch programme the intended action of the sprite may not always be achieved, this is a result of an error in the script. However, to solve this problem it requires children to use clear and logic thinking. As users will need to assess the problem, evaluate how it may have occurred and then modify the script to resolve …show more content…
Reiners and Wood (2014) also shared a similar view to this, they believed in order for children to think systematically and logically they will need to first familiarise themselves with the programming language. They state "the first scenario refers to teaching the structure of the "if-then" control statement in the programing environment ...there is also said to be a correlation between gamification rules, constructivist objective and computational thinking" (Scratch,2013 cited in Reiners and Wood, 2014 p.237). In other words what Reiners and Wood are trying to say is if children know the rules of the programming language and what certain blocks do and what motions link together, this will enable children to develop systematic and problem solving skills through a balanced and fun learning framework. This also links into the constructivist approach as the scratch program is an objective based programme. Children are said to learn better when they know the purposes and the objective of what they are doing, this process develops children into becoming computational

... I wanted to be ready for our next session so I looked into Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders in the APA’s The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM—5; American Psychriatric Association, 2013). The DSM states to diagnose Substance Use Disorder there are three possible levels which are meeting 2 to 3 of the criteria which would be mild substance use disorder, meeting 4 to 5 of the criteria which would be moderate substance use disorder, and lastly 6 to 7 means severe substance use disorder (APA, 2013). Prior to the DSM-5, there was only one level of Substance Use Disorder. Due to patient X’s previous history with law enforcement bringing him to the emergency room and the effect alcohol had on the disruption on his daily life, he qualified for Substance Use Disorder. To reference the Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders (APA, 2013). The diagnostic criteria consist of: A. Continuing to use opioids despite negative personal consequences B. Repeatedly unable to carry out major obligations at work, school, or home due to opioid use C. Recurrent use of opioids in physically hazardous situations D. Continued use despite persistent or recurring social or interpersonal problems caused or made worse by opioid use E. ...It was only 5 ml of liquid that would go into my bloodstream. This may not seem like a lot but if a bubble of air made its way into my bloodstream I could be in serious trouble. I was taking a very large gamble and if I screwed this up I might have to go to the emergency room. My parents were about a 1-2 hour drive away in Santa Monica and in Thousand Oaks, both working. I cleared my mind of all the things that could go wrong, took a deep breath, and told myself that I would be perfectly fine. I raised the needle from the plastic container. ...To begin this assignment, I reviewed the label contents of numerous music CDs that I have in my possession. During my review, I noted the common elements of information listed on the each CD cover. Usually, on the front or back cover of the CD, you can find the title of the CD album, the name of the artist(s), the title of the track(s), the name of the release company, and the name of the album’s producers. In some cases, on the inside of the cover I found the lyrics for each track. And some of the information I found described the entire album, while other data found described a single track. I used the information from my review as the basis for the following relation: There are several reasons for normalizing this relation. We are storing data about musical CDs. ...Unit 1 Discussion forum. Question 1: Using examples, briefly discuss how evidence is used to support evolution. Evolution is simply the processes of how species has changed with time. These occur through what naturalists Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace described as Natural Selection. According to Darwin and Wallace, “natural selection is the ability of individuals to reproduce specific traits that will enable that individual survive its environment. This reproduction of specific traits is what leads to evolutionary change,” (Avissar et al., 2013, p.482). In other to prove that evolution is not just a theory, but actual happenings on the earth. Scientists provided the following evidences. 1. Fossils: Evolutionists studied the natural remains of animals and plants, determining when each organism live. Result, although not...

...Diabetes Mellitus Sheri Shillingford February 18th 2018 Problem Statement: Overweight and Obesity are a distinctive risk factors for type II diabetes in America. Background Information The pancreas is long organ, weighing approximately 70-100 grams. It is sandwiched between the lower spinal area and the stomach. The pancreas is made up of three parts, the head, body and tail and is both an endocrine and exocrine gland. Endocrine glands release chemical substances straight into the bloodstream called hormones; whereas exocrine glands release chemicals through ducts. Chemicals released through exocrine ducts are called enzymes. Insulin and glucagon are the two hormones secreted by the pancreas that regulates blood glucose levels. Homeostasis of glucose in the blood is important so that cells could function efficiently. After consuming a caloric meal, the glucose in the blood increases, causing the beta cells in the pancreas to secrete insulin, which leads to the stimulation of glucose absorption via muscle, adipose tissue and liver. When blood glucose levels drop below homeostasis, the alpha cells in the pancreas produces glucagon which raises the glucose levels by stimulating the liver to metabolize triglycerides into glucose and releasing it in the blood. Diabetes Mellitus, more commonly known as Diabetes, is the inability of the body to properly regulate glucose levels in the blood. This dysfunctionality leads to elevated blood glucose levels. The four most common types of...

...I was a normal teenage girl with a normal life until January of 2015. That day, I had flu-like symptoms or possibly pneumonia. After all, it was the winter so I wasn't too concerned. I had expected to be seen by the doctors, have them prescribe me pain medicine and then go home. “You seem to have symptoms of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)” the doctors had said. I was not phased by what they had said. I simply thought they were referring to a temporary illness. As they began to speak more, informing me on my condition, the tears began to rush down my face. It was a cry I had no control over. The type of cry where you feel like you can’t breathe, and then eventually develop a headache. They began to explain to me what SLE was. It was a chronic, autoimmune disease. Hearing the words “chronic” crushed my heart. I felt like a prisoner being sentenced to life. That day, I felt as though my youthfulness had been robbed from me. My soul was no longer vibrant, simply full of despair. I just kept telling myself “man, these doctors don't know what they talking about.” Surely a mistake had been made. I was obviously in denial. I just could not grasp the fact that this had become my reality. I’ve heard of an autoimmune disease before, however I have never met anyone with it. I was eager to learn about my alleged condition. My intentions were to prove the doctors wrong. When I got home, I spent tons of energy researching my symptoms and I had bargained more than I had asked for. I had...

...Hi, Again welcome to this weeks blog post which will be identifying and discussing about the Return on Investment (ROI) in regards to Enterprise 2.0 and Cisco. What is ROI? ROI stands for return of investment and answers the question of how much value you get when making an investment. Say you were purchasing a product and investing a large sum of money into this product. In the terms of purchasing this product, would be that you would make a percentage of the amount spent back over said number of years. So pretty much ROI refers to making your money back, or anything a company has invested over a given period of time. So how exactly can a business or organisation work out there return on investment? If a company/business has a clear idea as to what the business wishes to achieve or reach an accurate return on investment calculation can be produced. However if a clear goal is not envisaged the lack of engagement will cause the organisation to not return a profit for the arranged investment. In order for a business to be able to firstly receive any sort of return on an investment and initial investment or a purchase will need to be made. The initial investment is then calculated and appropriately costed to enable maximum return on investment. Say for example a company invests $10 000 into a software which is used for developing HTML/CSS code (i.e Coda) this would be an accurate description of an initial cost. So how exactly can a website design business benefit...
