In this chapter I will be talking about the user side and server side factors that influence the performance of a website.
User side factors
Processor Speeds
The Processor of the computer does affect webpages. The reason why webpages are affected by this is that if the computer system has a processor that is not very fast, then it will take more time complete the tasks at hand. The processor is the metaphorical brains of the computer, as it specialises in processing tasks. If comparing a Pentium to an i3, then it would be a modest increase in processing capabilities. Comparing a Pentium to an i5 then it has a major increase in speed. Comparing a Pentium to an i7, then the difference in its capabilities would be quite extravagant.
Cache Memory
There’s a type of memory that the computer uses which …show more content…
However, this will slow the time it takes to load a webpage as the browser has to run these add-ons and load the page simultaneously so the user’s computer performance will be affected as the RAM memory will be filling up with more and more processes. Upgrading the RAM will help by storing more of the processes.
Server Side

Number of hits
If the numbers of hits are very high and the servers are very limited, then the user will have a high increased time trying to access the selected webpage in the web browser. For instance , a new site in the web browser pops up and tries to load loads of people hit onto that website, which makes the response time of the servers would become lower and lower as many users are trying to access the site all at once. This is so that the webpage is not damaged.
Bandwidth
Now onto bandwidth, this is when the company that owns the website has to pay for more data traffic. For some context, it’s like pouring water through thick plus skinny tubes. Although, the extra bandwidth the healthier as the data will go quicker than the smaller bandwidth.
