The subjects will be treated, patients muscle energy technique treatment of gastrocnemius. The therapist gently encourages the patient’s ankle of the foot into a dorsiflexed position until a bind is felt. If the range of motion of 90 degrees is normal position then again, the patient is asked to push their toes away (plantar flexion) to activate the gastrocnemius. After a 10-second contraction and on the relaxation phase, the therapist encourages dorsiflexion to promote lengthening of the gastrocnemius to perform the gastrocnemius and soleus stretches.37. The patients were treated with 5 minutes of aggressive soft tissue mobilization directed at the triceps surae and the insertion of the plantar fascia at the medial calcaneal …show more content…
Numerical Pain Rating Scale: This NPRS was used to check the patient’s level of pain. The scale is anchored on the left with the phrase ‘‘no pain’’ and on the right with the phrase ‘‘worst imaginable pain”. 30
2. Measurement of Ankle active ROM: The points of reference which will be used to measure ankle dorsiflexion active ROM are the median line of the fixed arm of the goniometer on the line of the fibula and the external line of the moving arm positioned on the head of the fifth metatarsal. After the fixation of the arms of the goniometer, the fulcrum will be secondarily positioned in the inframalleolar region, so that the movable arms remain parallel to the fifth metatarsal line. The goniometer will be positioned to perform the movement of active ankle dorsiflexion, while the examiner observe the movement until the final active ROM is achieved, at this level the range of motion in degrees will be noted and used for
