1. Explain what patterns you saw in the walk-though data.

There are several patterns identified from these walk-thoughs. In most classrooms, there is nearly an equal amount of student and teacher centered instructional strategies being employed. The majority of the classrooms are well managed and the students were engaged in the activities. No lecture was occurring in any of the classrooms. There was a lot of hands-on activity and practice occurring. There was a wide variety of instructional materials being used (although this is not reflected in the data), and even in the class where there were no materials being actively used, the students were actively focused on a teacher prepared game. All of the teachers are proficient at asking the lower-ordered questions (knowledge, comprehension and application); there was very little higher-ordered questioning happening.

Teachers need additional support and guidance in specific areas, especially effective and higher-ordered questioning. Most of the teachers are directing effective lessons that are engaging, yet it is unclear as to whether students understand the impact of what they are learning. There was very little formative assessment happening at this time, as it was the end of the cycle, and students were reviewing or completing summative assessment.
