In the given scenario the communication network within the Data Center should be optical fiber link, local area network, wireless communication network and also the VPN communication network. We should use redundant communication links to avoid disruption of work. The physical security program regarding the communication path and communication paths following few points should include:-
 Optical fiber link is used for the Data Center all across the Data Center for both primary and as well as for back up link.
 The optical fiber used to inter connect the Data Center is single mod due to long route and optical fiber cable used for short distance within the Data Center either single mode or multimode.

 Server rooms are protected by taking extra security measures i.e., biometric access control, CCTV cameras to record the activities at the sensitive areas and the security guard at reception to monitor the Data Center physically.
 The LAN network cables should be undergrounded.
 RF radio link is used for the point to point communication between the Data Centers in case of emergency requirement.
 VPN communication network used to make communication between the two Data Centers.
 There should be a predefined policy through which access of VPN allowed to the user. And the policy for allowing access to VPN is prior approval policy.
 If the user not using VPN communication link then the user should be disconnected.
 LAN connectivity devices such as switches and router should also be physically secured.
 Underground cable warning signs should placed at the specific interval where the cable undergoes.
 Only authorized person should allow to the Data Center and relevant servers. Role base access is granted to the employees.
 Centralized monitoring system is used to monitor the activities into the Data Center. Separation of duties mechanism should be implemented which is also very helpful in auditing
