What is communication protocol?
This is the rule if you like for the devices that help identify and agree on the format of the data. These set of rules is called a protocol, this defines such things as the rate of transmission, whether transmission is to be synchronous or asynchronous and whether data is to be transmitted in half-duplex or full-duplex mode. Protocols can also prove useful for identifying and recovering from transmission errors and also can be used for encoding and decoding data.
TCP/IP
This is one of the most important protocols; the TCP/IP is used to connect hosts on the internet, it consists of two separate parts but both are connected. It was first created to connect numerous amount of different networks together, to create a much larger internetwork, which later on became the internet. TCP’s main role is to verify that data has been successfully delivered from one node to another. It also detects errors, detects lost data and detects duplicate messages and discards them when necessary. IP’s main role is to transfer data packets from one node to the next.
