1. The primary source of information that should be considered to modify the service environment to ensure visual affirmation in the area is determining what cultures or ethnic groups does the facility serve. This source of information will allow for them to appropriately create a visual affirmation in the area by appealing to the patients/clients/customers they are serving.

2. My view of the decision that more Jamaican members are not necessary since they already have two African Americans on the board is that this is not the best decision for the healthcare facility to make. It is also not a good business decision. It is important to have an organization of a diverse group of board members, staff, and providers. Two out of 15 African Americans will not represent or stand out (another word) as a diverse organization when the facility serves a significant number of Jamaica patients. Therefore, more Jamaican descent board members or people from an African descent are needed to adequately represent the population being served. As a result, the healthcare facility will better interact and connect with their patients, increase organization success, and patients will notice that the organization strives to meet their culture and health needs.

This is not an accurate view that cultural competence training through the hiring of a consultant will not be a sufficient return on investment. Actually, this training will increase their return on investment. It may take awhile for the public health entity to notice a return on investment or the beneficial results the training will produce but an increase in return will occur due to various factors such as increased patient satisfaction, increase in new patients, customer service surveys, and etc. In addition, community members will be satisfied of the services they receive once the staff gets the necessary training to know how to communicate and address their
