Abstract—In an internet distributed system the need for the best client-server assignment is a necessity in order to enhance the performance of such a system. Two major factors appear which are the total communication load in the network and the load balance in each server. But the enhancement should be effective from the time complexity point of view. The proposed algorithms for the optimal assignment of clients and servers was devoted either to enhance one of the main factors or both, or to enhance the time complexity. Facebook or Twitter is an example of social networks, where Facebook is a system that allows a group of friends to communicate and exchange messages and pictures, so if we could assign the friends to the same server that will reduce the inter-server communication, and also rebalancing the load at the servers will be preferable. eBay is an example of the auction distributed systems that also need a better client-server assignment. When assigning users that need a content to a server that does not provide their needs, this means those users will look for other servers in order to have their contents, so when assigning users to the servers that provide their needs of content, this will enhance the overall performance of the network.
MapReduce database distributed system needs the best assignment of the search keywords that are often queried to the same server; this will minimize the inter-server communications and enhance the
